I wonder if I should keep Paint It Black III, or swap it for Slow & Steady III for when I get griefed? I already have Iron Lung III and Fool Me Once III.

Yup, that's why i stopped playing PVP. Ability cards and tonic chugging make it into an all around ridiculous experence. Also, maps are crap.

I think Red Dead Online's PvP modes would be fun if they were more like Red Dead Redemption Multiplayer's PvP modes. Instead of having seperate (Free Aim) modes in the menu, how about our aim setting determines the aim type of PvP mode we join. They could then replace (Free Aim) modes with (Hard Core) modes.

 

(Hard Core) PvP:

  • Forced weapons and ammo instead of player owned weapons and ammo
  • No Item Wheel
  • Ability Cards are disabled
  • Everyone has Paint It Black I
  • Dead Eye meter starts empty and can only be refilled via tonic pickups that spawn out in the open

Well, if you're waiting for RDO to become an eSport, I wouldn't hold your breath. And if you're the type of player who takes it seriously enough to make a complaint video, you're playing the wrong game....

I don't think I've ever killed another player in free roam. I played at launch for a few hours, realised it was a pointless sh*t show and didn't bother playing again until the recent roles update. I think I've been killed by other players maybe five or six times over the last week, press charges, move on.

OP does have a point. Tonics paired with an array of defensive cards are a problem.

The only known counter I've seen is dynamite arrows. Those will cut through all that and one shot your enemy.

You are correct about the Dead Eye meter starting empty, however you are absolutely incorrect about having to take a tonic to refill your Dead Eye meter.

 

Just shoot a few rabbits, birds or any animal for that matter.

 

...get headshots and it will fill faster.

 

...equip the card "eye for an eye" and it will fill even faster when you get headshots.

This thread is a trip lol.

 

This particular card combo is pretty ridiculous at the moment, but I'll use it myself to help with anyone trying to come at me for whatever reason. Won't be crying if they nerf it though.

R* could simply put someone in charge that knows that they are doing.

 

Half the people in this forum could do a better job balancing pvp and making it enjoyable again.

 

PVP in this game was basically DOA.

I agree that they should be nerfed in the game types like showdowns and free roam events, but not in public lobbies.

I still say that a bit of free roam could be better balanced too.

 

Players should not be able to carry so many tonics at one time. 

 

For example.  R* did a good job with the ammo in RDO.   Its not like GTA O with 10000000s of ammo being carried at once that you can refill instantly anytime you want.  Ammo carry is balanced in RDO.

 

But the tonics and satchel food items.   Its over the top.   Im carrying hundreds of instant heals/dead eye fills at once time.  It should be much more limited.  3 health tonics 3 snake oils for example should be the limit.  Not 20 or 30 of each.

 

On top of that, PVP game modes need proper hosting options..  Private lobbies.  etc.  

 

 

Like I said before.  The Current GTA O has a solid racing scene.  If the next GTA 6 O has only PUBLIC racing with no options.  GTA 6 Online racing scene will be DOA.  Just like the pvp in RDO

Idk, R* is noticing that a lot of it's player base on RDO isn't all about PvP. From what they've seen on their end is a lot of players preferring either co-op or competitive PvE content. (From the latest interview.)

 

I don't think it means the death of PvP, just they'll stop focusing on it like it's the bee's knees of the game. I enjoy PvP, I enjoy the Free Roam skirmishes, never really bothered me but I do know I want more co-op/PvE stuff over the PvP. More so since I can't pick specific game modes or maps.

 

Doesn't sound like they plan on taking out the PvP portions of roles either. Those that want to play the villain and steal supplies or whatever will have said option the entire time.

Nerfing cards is the only reason I didn't buy any of the new ones. They already did that to us once.

Honestly the cards should just be completely scrapped at this point, and tonics should not be usable in PvP, refund players for their cards and get rid of all of them.

I know a way where you really don't even need health tonics.

...and it's totally 100% legit. Not a cheat.

 

If you're referring to certain cards, weapons, ammo, defensive mode or a combination of any or all of the above, then it's not really a secret.

If you're referring to a solo lobby, then that's no secret either.

What that person showed in the video will never happen in a real PVP situation. That person chugged close to 20 tonics while the video recorder shot him none stop causing his damage to eventually become zero. It's a unrealistic situation that will never happen.  If it do happen for the sake of arguing,  stop shooting that person for 10 seconds and the buff disappears. I smacked a group of 7 last night in a 2 v 7 and all of them where using a similar setup.  Winning streak works well to counter that card. Damage cards need buffing imho. Not Nerf Nerf Nerf's.  More nerfs will render cards useless in the end and waste people's money.  Just my humble opinion.

I am not the best at PvP, I enjoy it sometimes but this is so broken. This was last night when I was trying to complete my Daily Challenge - headshot 3 players in Showdown.

PVP was barely existent from the start. It seems like a PvE approach is the main path they are trying to go down.
