PSA: If you own this game on Steam, launch it through Steam. You do not *need* to directly open the new Rockstar launcher yourself, for anything.

Posting this just because I keep hearing about people having issues with it, who don't seem to realize that you're supposed to just click "play" in Steam itself like you would for any other game.

Or maybe people post that cause it doesnt work? mine doesnt launch unless i manually click play on r* launcher. this sh*tty drm only cause problems

If that's the case, there's something wrong with your installation in general.

 

If you have the game on Steam, all that *should* happen after the latest update (that installs the launcher) when launching the game via the Steam "play" button is:

 

- You have to re-login to your Rockstar account and do a captcha exactly once (the very first time you launch the game after updating.)
 

- That's it! After that, it will always just auto-login to your Rockstar account and open the game (you'll see the "Connecting to Rockstar services" screen for a few seconds, and then the game will start up.)

 

Again, *none* of this involves manually opening the Rockstar Launcher yourself, at any point, ever. Steam takes care of bypassing most of it for you, as it does for the vast majority of games that have standalone launchers.
