Yeah that happened to me. The mighty wolf man got wrecked. Will be keeping explosive rounds handy for next time..

Have you considered a shotgun with incendiary rounds? Bears are not a fan 

 

Also, approach from the North, i.e. travel anti-clockwise around the lake. That way when you get to the bear you'll be between it and the Wolfman, so won't have any trouble aiming at it. Just don't miss

So I completed the 4-star one today. Was trying to be stealthy the last 3 times so I went with another approach. Hoped on my horse, pulled out my shotgun and just trampled and shot any wolf that showed up. Rode around like a maniac (super awesome when nothing else has guns.) and laid waste. Hogtied his ass and went about my business taking him to Colter.

 

Apparently a roided out bear can spawn in Colter. (Unsure if it's random or because of the difficulty) I loaded explosive slugs and got one shot off before I was bucked and mauled. Bear came from the cuts too, saw a red marker then he just shot out from behind the buildings. Gun-ho works on wolves, not on bears I guess lol.

 

Did the same plan the 2nd time, trampled and shot all the wolves with no regards to stealth.

 

Left via Big Valley instead. No bears.

 

He spawned on the far left of Lake Isabella up on that hill both times, so having the huge open frozen lake to ride in circles probably made it more simple then it could of been. Going to try it on 5 star as well, if it works just as well I'm grinding the hell out of it.

Had a bear survive 4 explosive slugs to the head, then on the next run it died from just one shot.  So keep a safe distance, lol.

I've found this one quite easy. Even the 5 star wasn't as challenging as last weeks. Had a lot of fun with it. Looking forward to next weeks.

Weird one this, I did the 1st one on my own and it was very hard wolves everywhere, Then i joined an old returning mate mate and he had completed All the levels of this event so we went into the finale and Yes you guessed it extremely bloody hard but we got thru without dying or killing wolfman.

 

Now the weird bit we did it again some 3 hours later this time 4 of us and we split into 2 groups of 2 and it was so easy it was unreal we got wolfman with only seeing 3 wolves and hog tied him and set off down towards Big valley The other pair with us came up to us with 4 wolves chasing them we warned them about the bear near the end but that did not show either 

 

There must be different levels of wolve attacks in the finale but will see in the next few days as ive got do them all on my account and a few other have too

Two times i tried to do this in the hardest level and two times my horse crashed and killed the Wolf Man...

this morning i've finally beaten the wolf man 5 star bounty it took three tries though.

the 3rd try i was in a raging blizzard (i was riding my chestnut arabian).

i killed any wolves i've encountered, when i found the wolf man the bear was chasing him.

i managed to lasso and hogtie the wolf man and put him on my horse and quickly ride back to colter and i didn't bother with killing the bear.

and i did all that solo.

Bears appear to be an enemy on 4 star and higher. There are two different Wagons you can take Wolf Man to and there is a bear waiting near the drop off of both of them. Eagle Eye really comes in handy for this bounty mission since it lights up any enemies near you, so if used right you may be able to spot it before it even sees you and either avoid it or fight it from a safer distance if you cannot sneak past.

I killed him with dynamite arrow at night and strong blizzard, a dramatic ending for the 5 stars mission.

 

Can't wait to see the next boss, I would love to see some native boss like in Sunset Riders:

Fairly easy five star. Dynamite arrow the bear, hogtie wolfman and keep moving so you don't get surrounded by wolves. Done.
