Undead Nightmare hints

Today I stood near the corpse wagon in Armadillo when suddenly some corpses slipped slowly from the wagon...I hadnt touched them, I was 50 feet away.

 

It was probably a bug, but very creepy :D

I might be wrong, but I really don't think it is a missing texture. It's also only happening with dead npc's, so no living npc's feature those eyes. If it was a missing texture, we would most likely see dozens of videos about normal npc's having the same issue as well.

Specular textures can be vary on different objects, on the Bolt its only green on the wood so it can not shine(unlike metal for example).The eyes have diffrent shades because on channel Red of the specular they added the "shine" around the pupil so it goes more in green/yellow/red direction.When you tone the channel in the texture brighter for shine it goes more and more in the yellow/red tone on the complete texture.

 

Here for example a specular from Farming Simulator where you can see the different shades.

I stumbled on this just now... there's no reason, it's always an unpopulated location. No mission was active.

 

She was levitating next to this old fireplace. She could be pushed around as she floated. When pushed upwards, she'd slowly float back down to being just above the ground.  I stuck her on a horse and took her to Rhodes.  After I took her off to see if she float, I couldn't lift her back up.  Well technically I could, but the game would immediately put her back down again.  Too bad!  I wanted to see what would happened if she floated in front of a wagon passing by.

Those creepy howls coming from the native burial ground ..    I heard them at manzanita post  at 3 am . I was about 50 - 100 yards north of the house .

They say that is a fox mating call or something. But that doesn't debunk anything in my opinion.

One thing I would like to add or suggest is the bola item. If you speculate, it could be used to immobilise a zombie without a lasso right if zombies were to be a thing.

Ummm.. Guys? 

I think I found a 'live' one. 

Here is what happened; I saw a dog at the side of the road (grey dot) and followed it. Instead of taking me to a collectible or ambush, it was a dead body. It is the 3rd or 4th one I have seen in the last 2 days. 

After looting the body, I usually walk away but thought maybe the dog wanted me to do something with it so I picked it up and followed the dog for a bit. 

Nothing happened so I looked for a safe place to leave the body. 

I found a half burned building nearby, dropped the body on the floor and saw the eyes. 

I picked it up again and placed it in a better position for a screenshot when.. well.. Have a look for yourselves.. 

 

 

I can't lie.. It freaked me out a little! And nobody can say this was just textures, the thing has animation.

Could also be something like they're classified as dead bodies that weren't previously alive in the players game, therefore they don't have normal eyeball textures since their eyes aren't supposed to be open, but some bug is causing the eyelids to open at times (and as we've seen in the video above sometimes correct themselves to a closed state).

It's lips and throat move too, like it's taking it's last breath. 

 

OK, this is getting weird.. 

 

I went into the office at the Heartland Oil fields to find a tarot card. I was searching through the medicine cabinet on the wall and found this green vial. It appears to be the same colour as the 'zombie' eyes.

I can assure you, that green vial was there since Day One of RDO. I saw it since then, but i've never understood what it was. I always thought it was a kind of "Special cartridge for pump shotguns". But, of course it isn't..

 

So, unfortunately, i don't think its something involved with zombies..

Spent all night roaming the backalleys and slums of St Denis looking for zombie or vampire clues -- nothing! But what an incredible setting for a little horror diversion...

That was my point, think of that body as the exact same as a normal live NPC in that it likely uses the same rigging models and animations but different textures since they're bodies that are supposed to have always been dead. If they aren't intended to move or be interacted with like a live NPC there's no reason for them to have specific textures like eyeballs and instead have a default texture that takes up little to no memory at all. Being as those bodies aren't supposed to be moving on their own it's likely just some bug causing weirdness at times. That's my take on what we've seen of this so far at least.

 

Edit: on this train of thought I would love if they introduced some "supernatural" type missions for whatever reason, see no issue with it if they were solo lobby affairs like the story mode and legendary bounty missions.

I would hope so. Unless Rockstar literally intended for Arthur Morgan to be the first person to encounter the supernatural in Red Dead Redemption 2.

So have we come to the conclusion that Undead Nightmare 2 is definitely not coming (this year) and it's all easter eggs or glitches or both?

But we may have an online Halloween theme for a while.

Scary horse masks, blunderbuss, a themed playlist? Etc
