The balls in Rockstar's court on this.  Okay, so now we've gone through this bit, how exactly are they highly valuing veteran players? Giving veteran players the ability to earn 210 gold bars in the 3 week lead up to the DLC was pretty cool. As a result of that, none of us vets have been struggling to buy the new DLC stuff, or at least I havenât.  I suppose you could argue that you only needed 6 weeks in the game to benefit from that, but I feel like thereâs a pretty big overlap between âveteranâ players and ones that played regularly in the 6 weeks prior to a DLC. P.T. and The Dedito Gae

TiberiusMcQueen
I don't feel like I should be entitled to a bunch of exclusive stuff that gets withheld from others just because they haven't played as long as I have, and are we seriously talking about "Veteran players" in an online game that hasn't even been out for a year? Rockstar very much did reward players who have been here from the beginning, they did it during Beta, with a s***load of free gold. Jason
They valued veteran players by releasing a huge update last week. That is literally all we've asked for since launch and we got it. Some small currency bonus or an exclusive cosmetic item isn't rewarding veteran players, that's an incentive to log in and them immediately log off. Content is the incentive to play and that's what veteran players want to continue to do. Â We have absolutely no need for anything else. They released the huge update to save their game from dying and attracting new players and have something to thrown in the balance of all the negative feedback they've gotten repeatedly. We got elements of what we've asked for, but we've asked the obvious. We've also asked for a number of game fixes or game modes, which they conveniently ignore. We've been a bunch of that since launch day, during the "dark times" when there was nothing to do but hunt. Gold? We've been given that too during the same time and hell, pre-update they ran double rewards on daily challenges for 3 weeks, something which veteran players benefited GREATLY from due to the streak bonuses only veterans had. Those three weeks essentially paid for the entire update for veterans.  The other thing is cosmetics, a fancy "veteran" coat or something, sure that'd be kinda nice but in my experience of playing MMO's and other online games that have given veterans the odd "thank you" cosmetic.. no body wears them. People like looking unique. Even then, we actually do have an element of exclusive cosmetics in game right now as a lot of the Feb update clothing hasn't returned to the store, particularly things like the Morning-Tail Coat which a lot of people want.  This is all just my opinion but personally speaking I've seen communities go to sh*t because of veteran entitlement and I've even seen games go to sh*t because devs bend over backwards for veteran players which is a dark rabbit hole to go down. In my experience the best way to value veterans is to support the game with good new content, giving them new things to play and earn. A new player isn't going to waltz straight into the game and catch up, especially not with this new form of progression in RDO with the Roles stuff.  ¯\_(ă)_/ÂŻ Edited September 19, 2019 by Jason TiberiusMcQueen, RaigeGames, IamCourtney and 2 others
RyuNova
I will admit that the free Gold Bars at the beginning is one of the only reasons I am still here. Jason
That double gold on challenges basically allowed me to not give a sh*t about cash this update which I only had like 2k of last week. I was able to buy the pass and the roles and then a bunch of the new stuff that I wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise. Not an excuse to not fix them but as a player they haven't been greatly impacting my experience in-game.  We've asked for what we saw was possible within the game limits and what we've experienced in the single player game. Each role has very familiar elements of what we had as side missions in the story campaign. Extra butchers? Haven't seen them. Trapper? Haven't seen any. Housing? Uh..., what? We got the things we asked for, because it was already in the game to a certain extend. We've asked for more PvE. Their answer "Here's new Showdown modes!". Many have asked for the sodding cards to be rid off. Their answer "Here's new cards coming in soon!".    3 minutes ago, Jason said:  I'm curious, what to you would be valuing veteran players?  Cash? Doesn't even have to be a give away, but a cosmetic thing which is no longer obtainable and adds some value to your character would work. But simple and clear communication to changes that has a high possibility of game play changing effects is what I see as value to long time players. A message about the upcoming change in character appearances, because of (what I guess) game stability reasons and offer an additional free appearance change beforehand. Long time players are informed and aren't surprised with a potatoe head character. Characters they've been grown attached to over time.   3 minutes ago, Jason said:  This is all just my opinion but personally speaking I've seen communities go to sh*t because of veteran entitlement and I've even seen games go to sh*t because devs bend over backwards for veteran players which is a dark rabbit hole to go down. Veteran players can spend money too, cause a lot of veteran players can be players who played once at launch and never touched the game since. Unless we're determining veteran status by stats which is a slippery slope, and people can hit level 100+ in 2-3 weeks, so new players would be counted too.  What I'm trying to say is that little gifts don't go a long way for veteran players, they'll get us to log in and get a reward but if there's no content then we log off, so I'd much rather have the content. I want to play the game and be rewarded by earning things, I don't particularly care for being handed gifts cause I've played since X day or I'm X level.  Anywho, we'll be at this for hours if we continue much long I'm guessing. I don't disagree with you on a lot of it, their communication is poo and stuff like yesterdays update breaking faces without warning and still no word from it is poo, their silence on lobbies is poo, etc. I just aint fond of the idea of in-game gifts for veteran players for the reasons I've said, I just want stuff to do basically.  Now I'ma watch the football. Assblaster
As a veteran player the only appreciation I want R* to extend to us vets is not to mess up our beta characters so that new players can have an easier time of it in the character creator. I made some good-looking characters with the old creator, it just took a lot of tweaking. It took time and patience but it worked alright. Â They shouldn't have changed anything if it was going to alter older characters. That's a pretty hard slap in the face of their diehard playerbase. Pretty stupid move if you ask me. Dark Spark
If you're not having any success salvaging the face by making the cheeks/jaw narrow, may I suggest trying to make the face taller instead? Lengthen the chin, raise the eyes, and put a little more space between the eyes, nose and mouth. Â Both my post-beta characters were built that way from the ground-up. There was only so much you could do to make the face narrow, so I had to lengthen it to carry off the desired result. Switchblade Eyes

No it is not. First chat support I got the guy was basically giving me the classic IT101 speech... asking me to go into the creator and fix her and he would credit my account with 10 gold. The second one is whom the screenshots are taken from that kicked off this thread. Â It seems however that this was an intended change by Rockstar but they did nothing to mention it. Again... I have no issues with a change, but when it is something as drastic as this was, not giving players a headsup of any type is a f*ck up on a higher level. We all rushed to change our faces on the 10th only for them to be Stalloned 8 days later. Â The best thing Rockstar could do is revert the facial structures back and credit everyone with a free appearance change voucher. Nuff said. TiberiusMcQueen
If this is indeed intentional then they really should've told us in advance, and not charged anyone gold for character edits until at least a week after they made this change, as it is I feel like my female character has been robbed of the free edit and 10 gold that I spent on changing her appearance twice prior to this, and support has yet to respond to my complaint, I'm going to be pestering them until my character gets refunded for the two edits that I used prior to yesterday's update. Â Someone said that the free face change after the Roles update should have been free for a week but according to what someone else said the changes we are seeing should have been applied when the Roles update dropped and everyone was put on the new slider system. FOr some reason this part of the update was held back and the result is that everyone has used their free face change and get lumped with this. SeekingAsylum
The only thing that leads me to believe that this is unintentional is that it was never mentioned in the patch notes whatsoever; be it the notes for the update on the 10th or 1.12 on the 18th. Â One would think they'd make note of a change that large in there or in advance, but that didn't happen here. Just from the stir this has generated all over, I feel they'll have to respond to it at some point sooner rather than later. All I know is that I'm not touching the editor until there's some kind of confirmation or another fix to address the issue. I really don't want to make a bad situation worse. Â "Various stability fixes" doesn't really cover all the bases, and definitely doesn't sum up a change this drastic and without warning. However, if this ends up being how things are going to stay, I'll just have to suck it up and try to make something else out of it. Not much more can be done in that case. I really, highly doubt this is anything other than a bug, though. w9u2jd
