Fat Faces Are Here to Stay

Rockstar really need to put out something official about this, their support has always been inconsistent when it comes to knowing what's up.

If it's here to stay then they really need to turn off character appearance change fees for a week or something to people can fix their characters up.

I unlocked the Character Change voucher from the Outlaw Pass last night so I don't wanna waste that on a change if a fix is coming.

yeah i would def wait. This was not intentional, i truely believe they meant to adjust something else in game and somehow it got applied to our character faces. That support person does not know. If it was intentional why would they give out 10 gold bars to try to fix it ? The support person just assumes it was intentionally something done in the update but they have no real clue .

As I said before, small things infuriate me and this is a small thing. It looks like my character but...wrong you know?

Had the puffy face too, but the fix was really easy. I did use my free voucher for it, though, but I don't mind since I had no use for it anyway. I just readjusted a few sliders and my boy was back to being his normal self again. No biggie for me.

Which sliders?

Im just going to be 100% honest. I know that one employee in that chat said it was intentional. But take that with a grand canyon sized grain of salt.

Right. And they probably just want to get rid of people. If they say they don't know or that it was a problem then they have to do more digging or give some kind of compensation - and they would probably have no no clue what amount of compensation to give. Far easier just to say it was intentional and move on to the next person.

Yes, and by how much. If there is a magic formula that everyone can apply then it would make things easier if we end up having to change things.

I think all characters affected with this bug, just need to adjust the cheeks and narrow the chin, at least all characters that i had seen have that problem, so if you don't want to alter the other sliders, go for this two only

Cheeks, eyes, chin. I only adjusted the width on cheek and chin by an amount to which my character looked normal again. On the eyes I adjusted the position a bit to a more inward setting.

I think the issues may really effect those more who already had those settings on the more narrow end of the scale to begin with. Therefore there is only a slight amount ( if any) they can go down now from there , so they are not able to get it back to where they had it looking.

That's the problem. I've tried adjusting two already with the free voucher. As soon as you go into the eye section of the editor (or any section), it resets your settings and I can't get them exactly as they were. I've wrecked characters trying to fix this, so I give up.

They're just not the characters I made and grew attached to. I know it sounds petty of me, but I just lost my love for these characters and for the game.

Rockstar just doesn't get it. I've been a good customer and dedicated player of a dozen characters, now they've casually and (gulp!) intentionally ruined them, what for? a joke? This is the dumbest thing they could've done.

I was merely two days away from spending gold on multiple characters for the outlaw pass...not now. R* just kissed my money good-f*cking-bye.

You're only a good customer to Rockstar if you spend real cash on game currency regularly. Playing a dozen characters while buying only 1 copy of the game doesn't make Rockstar love you more. Really, they don't care much about how much you play. They care for how much you pay. Sad but true.

That said, I absolutely know where you're coming from and I do understand how messed up things can become, when your character just doesn't feel it's the same as when you started out with. The character building, purchase of cloths fitting their 'personality' and so on.

I guess I'm lucky to be able to recreate mine every time again.

Not really true. Yes they want people to purchase microtransactions but veteran players are highly valued, they are the heartbeat of the game and if they go then everyone else goes. Same with every other online game.

This particular issue sucks but they've been throwing gold at me left right and centre for the problems I've had this update that I've sent in tickets for, on top of releasing an update that gives out gold and cash faster than ever before.

I don't think it makes me more valuable a customer -- like they care, money falls like rain on them. But gold doesn't come easy to a guy with so many characters and so little playing time, so I've spent plenty since beta started. Was about to shell out 20 bucks on ten characters --- sure I would've got it back on some of em, but not all. They effed up for sure but like I said why should they care.

I tried logging on this morning and giving it a go. No way. Heart's not in it now. I'm taking a break from the game for awhile, I'll keep watch on the forums in the hope they'll reverse this. If not I'm gone, there are other games.

I don't know. They don't show much appreciation towards veteran players in this game. Just about everything in this game is obtainable as a new player. Sure, there are things that need leveling up since the new update, but otherwise, no rewards for the veterans. No "Thanks for playing RDO since day 1. Here's an exclusive item as a reward". Every Joe gets the same stuff available, new or old. Servers are mainly populated by new characters. Every time I check the lists, there's 80% of them below rank 50 or just over. The amount of high ranked players can be counted on 1 hand in most cases.

If they, like you say, highly value veteran players, they have a lousy way of showing it.

Yes, and pretty much why we have the daily challenges. They want us to keep going back and playing a variety of things. When we get the showdown dailies I see those as getting those who don't usually play them into the showdown lobbies to be fresh meat for the ones who live in there. And when I join them I feel like a piece of meat that's been fed to to the dogs to keep them entertained. If people start leaving the game then plenty of others will find it boring and before you know it there will not be enough people left to make it worth anyone playing. So yeah, it's important to Rockstar that we keep playing.

If that's what you think respecting veteran players boils down to then very few developers of any online game respect their players. It's not very common to just lock something like that behind a arbitrary date. I know there's some MMO's that have character birthday gifts but it's not something I see very often.

What keeps veteran players coming back and enjoying the game isn't some random gift, it's new content and progression. We've got that this update, we know they have plans to expand on it in future with not only new roles but adding more to the roles we have.

It was only a 156MB patch on the PS4, so I wonder what they actually changed in terms of "various stability fixes" that would've broken the character faces.

The game isn't any more stable, they've messed up faces, increased clipping, and my female character's guns now float six inches off of her back, they've done nothing but make things worse with this minor update.

I changed my character, making the cheek sliders the thinnest possible and he still looks a little too wide. Its like they changed a hidden "Head Size" slider and made his entire head wider not just the cheeks.

From what I've gathered it sounds like this only effects beta characters, so I'm guessing they updated all the beta characters faces to the new face models and for some reason some of the newer models have wider faces than their beta counterparts.

If I'm right I'm guessing there's not really a "fix" they can do other than reverting characters back to the now outdated character editor which I'm guessing they won't, so I'm hoping they give everybody at least one free appearance change, ideally a few but ya'know...

It still fries my bacon. My head is the thinnest you can get it, I even thinned out his jaw but he still seems to have a wider face.

Even after being showered with gold (giggity) from Rockstar Support, I feel as if I did not get a straight answer and just now decided to start a new chat ticket about the current issue with faces (especially with beta characters) and got the sad news that this Widening epidemic is here to stay.

Do with that what you will. I have gone and changed my character's appearance and set some sliders to the more narrow end... but the result is not the same. It is close, but not what I had.

How were you able to do a live chat? I don't get that option when submitting a ticket.

What makes a veteran player appreciate care of the developer is something we don't have here; communication towards those effected by changes they make, involving characters from beta.

Now they simply bloat your character's face, without saying a single word. Same with updates. Not a word during development, no 'keep you posted' messages, nothing.

With the daily streak resets, some got 50 gold bars to compensate, others get 5 or nothing. If there is appreciation for veteran players, they'd have a plan ready for when sh*t hits the fan. The one getting this, the other getting that, it tells me there is no plan. Only those who request support get helped. Those who don't won't. In this case, they could have handed out vouchers for free character changes before or right after the last patch. Now it's a "we do this and don't care about what you think" attitude, which has nothing to do with highly valuing players, new or veterans.

Yep their communication stinks and their customer support have never been on the same page ever, but those are two very different things than Rockstar only caring about how much you pay or rewarding veteran players with gifts cause they made their account on X day.

I'm not trying to defend them on a whole cause we all know they have a lot of things that they can and should improve on but not every aspect of Rockstar or everything they do is aimed at bending players over. The Rockstar community always seems to be waiting for the chance to go for the jugular and while some may say it's justified cause of X/Y/Z often the reasonable/valid reasons for it are ignored in favour of just making sh*t up.

Actually, it has all to do with appreciation veteran players. It all falls under customer care, of which we both agree, is fairly shabby. Even their patch note, "resolving stability issues" don't tell you your character you've grown attached to is not the same as before. This especially effects veteran players, who've stuck hours and hours of time into their characters.

It has to do with all players, there's no reason to single out veteran players. No one has lost progress from this, it's your characters appearance which can be fixed. If it's effecting everybody then everybody should get the same treatment, which as I've said before they should be handing out free character changes if they can't revert it. The balls in Rockstar's court on this.

I got it by selecting Installation/Performance. They also ask if they can help with other issues as well... so if you have open tickets you can direct them to that as well and they will help with it.

The support site often don't know what they're talking about. This is the same site that told me before GTA's casino DLC that they had a dedicated team working on fixing the orbital cannon glitch ... Yeah, take anything they say with a grain of salt.

Characters - well mine is thicc already so I wouldn't notice. Does seem like some of the women posted are wider in the face.
