Karen Daniels
Even after being showered with gold (giggity) from Rockstar Support, I feel as if I did not get a straight answer and just now decided to start a new chat ticket about the current issue with faces (especially with beta characters) and got the sad news that this Widening epidemic is here to stay. Do with that what you will. I have gone and changed my character's appearance and set some sliders to the more narrow end... but the result is not the same. It is close, but not what I had. Hence why I did the chat ticket. I still have the traditional ticket open and waiting for a response (gonna give it another 36 hours until I get one). I mean sure I got another 10 gold out of this (not that I needed more) but it doesn't change the fact that this has affected many and that it has affected it to where even narrowing facial features does not yield the results we want: having our character look like they did on the 17th. The chat went on longer. I asked what the reason was for the change. Was told they are only told what was changed and not why. SeekingAsylum
It really sucks when you've waited months just for the character editor to be made available, are finally happy with how your character looks after being given the opportunity to tweak it, and all that only to wake up the next morning to see yet another 'break more than it fixes' patch completely bloats their face. Boy, does Rockstar love to spike my OCD... I've submitted a ticket on this as well. Everything about this just screams 'not intended' to me. I would think it makes some sort of sense that any beta character models people have wouldn't be affected unless you voluntarily go into the editor to 'obtain' the updated faces if you so wished... or at least that's how I thought it'd work. Nothing about my character's face looks like the new models anyhow. It's literally the same face I've had since beta, just stretched out ridiculously Pocket Fox, ghostsoap01, Karen Daniels and 5 others

I can definitely say this: the wide options are definitely more on the wide side for sure compared to how they were prior. Not making excuses but it does seem they intended to give more definition to that end but have royally screwed the pooch in doing so. I can see it as this was the intention, but it did not work out as planned. I cannot fathom the reasoning to overhaul (8 days later) the facial structure of all beta characters without any warning or notice that this would happen. w9u2jd

Is it possible at all to get your character at least close to what they used to looked like? Or have you managed to? From observing my own character outside the editor with the pictures I have, it seems like parts of the face are just so bloated--or just not in directly editable areas--that we're just gonna be stuck with those wide, circular faces in some subtle capacity no matter how much is adjusted. I'd mess with it myself to find out, but I just don't trust the stability of that editor. I really started diving into it a lot after I had already tweaked my character, and had to spend a good amount of gold bars afterwards to fix him again because for whatever reason it decided to de-age him and crank the faded scar on his face to max prominence... this is even without me saving anything. Just going in the editor, messing around, and backing out Close, but not enough. There has still been a big difference in definition and structure. In order to be safe I recreated her after randomizing her, because the options are set to custom as opposed to the base you choose, and the sliders are also randomly set (or re-set to a different position on the chart). This was my character on the 12th after overhauling her face entirely This was her today after the update (bad angle makes her look worse aka head shrunk lol) This is her after editing sliders to be more narrow on the chin, jaw and cheeks And a recreating of the first shot It is much closer than post-update, but still not the same. The chin is not as defined. The jaw still is too wide. The actual cheeks feel more sunken but that was to try and achieve the look of the rather angular look I had... and the cheekbones are the wide option, but set more to the narrow end. It is far from the same. Luckily I recorded my creation of the face and can simply watch it and adjust as necessary if this is reverted. Apologies for the potatoes quality with the final three images, I used my phone to take them for my support chat. AmyStone
None of this makes any sense. I can't imagine this was intentional. It would make no sense. A lot of players have lived with their characters for almost a year and I can't see any reason why rockstar would intentionally change everyone appearance because there is absolutely no reason for them to do it. I think this is just a mistake and I'd expect it to be fixed some time soon. I'm certainly not going to start messing with my character's appearance because if they then fixed the problem then I'd never get her looking how she did. Like I said, wide options are more wide (before to go really wide you had to go full on) than before. But this could not have been the intent. At the same time why tell Support that all beta facial structures have been removed, instead of it being what it was; a mistake.

Going off the monstrosity that my character has turned into, I'd imagine I won't be able to do enough to get him to my liking again. I think it's best in this case to just leave well enough alone with trying to fix the damage done to my poor guy. I'm gonna be patient and try to wait the next few days out in hopes that Rockstar will address this or put out some kind of fix. I know at least from the pictures I took that the scale/size/shape of all of my character's facial features are exactly the same, it's really just around the jaw and the sides of the head that are stretched out. Considering I can't do much about that, the ball is in their court for now. Unfortunately. It was just because hey, free gold, why not take a stab at it? I do hope that this is a mistake/oversight by Rockstar that will be fixed. As I said in another thread it is similar to the incident where on 360/PS3 GTA O characters became elderly or got skin damage added out of the blue, as well as the transfer of characters to next-gen and PC where while our heritage and sliders were the same, they looked drastically different for the most part. As I said, you can try and move the sliders around, but they are all in different spots than they were when you fine tuned them so it won't be as simple as just moving the ball in a direction, but moving it back to where it was originally. At that point though we are better off resetting the appearnce entirely via randomize and going from there. SeekingAsylum

AmyStone
I've opened a ticket asking about this. Just to ask if they know about it and if they are planning on fixing it or leaving it the way it is. I don't the person replying will have a clue but it's worth a try. Out of interest. Has anyone played around with this enough to know if there is a quick fix in the character editor? Are there just 1 or 2 sliders you can use to get pretty much get your character looking the way they did or is it going to be different for every character? When I pressed the support worker for that info, it was a simple answer "we are told what is a known issue, what a known change was but not why it was." The first chat I was in the person did not seem to know how to respond. Hours later with this one, I was immediately told that this was a change made by Rockstar. We shall find out soon enough. Regardless, if this was the plan, to not mention this in the notes or give any type of headsup, a free appearance change voucher, or reasoning... it just doesn't add up. The majority of playerbase has been affected by this and they should address this. If they don't... and subsequently do not fix this, then this was there intent. But again, we just spent time and our free change option just to witness our characters become the Maniac Cop (seriously Google that actor... that is how we all look right now). 1 minute ago, AmyStone said: I've opened a ticket asking about this. And based upon the first direct response to the change I got from support it would line up. But to remove the beta face structure... I do not understand the logic there. BUT, and it is a big one... the voucher was mostly viewed as a "first time is free" deal similar to how GTA O allowed you to edit appearance after you completed the prologue, and once you hopped into next-gen and even once more after you putzed around for a bit. Hopefully when they notice the thousand tickets all reporting the same thing they’ll get it sorted. Not touching my character in the creator until they at least speak on it officially. If they can’t give us the beta heads back, fine, but give us a “head width” slider or something ffs. Im just going to be 100% honest. I know that one employee in that chat said it was intentional. But take that with a grand canyon sized grain of salt. Most of the time these support people have no clue about what was and wasnt added in an update. More than likely when you ask , they just google it to find same info you would find. Ive often found people on support ends of things are mostly out of the loop of stuff. There would literally be 0 reason for them to make our characters all fat faced outside of , of course seeing everyone already use their free face change so they can charge us gold bars for it, but even that does not make much sense. Most people have enough gold they can afford to do that without purchasing gold. It seems that this was somehow an unintentional thing that happened due to the update. Maybe they meant to make something else in game "fatter" and somehow it also got applied to our characters faces. We just all need to keep opening tickets on this so they see a flood of these reports so they will look into fixing it. This however does not make me feel good about future updates that they will be doing though. They need to figure out whats causing their issues and stop bringing in more with each update.
