XxElBigMex913xX
*SCROLL DOWN TO SEE NEW DETAILS ABOUT THE SEQUEL TO JOKER* So Joker is about two weeks away, and it seems that I am not the only one that's pretty damn excited to see Joaquin Phoenix crushing as the Clown Prince of Crime in 70s Gotham when it comes out. Based on the reviews, this film polarized everyone at the Venice Film Festival and TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) as the very first comic book and DC film to be part of these film festivals like this. Interestingly enough, Joker actually won the prestigious grand prize at Venezia 76 that will definitely get an Oscar or two because of the way that reviews said about this film in a way that's respectable as a comic book polarizing masterpiece. I know that this film will meet or exceed expectations without a doubt. And most of all, Joker isn't just a regular comic book origin movie like Wonder Woman or The Dark Knight on the DC side of stuff, it's a psychological arthouse-like crime thriller that will get you talking for awhile compared to the films such as: The King of Comedy, Once Upon A Time In... Hollywood, and Taxi Driver. So what are your thoughts or reactions on Todd Phillips' Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix as The Clown Prince of Crime? Before watching Todd Phillips' Joker, there are a few films you must check out before it arrives on October 4 or whenever you feel like it: You Were Never Really Here If you watched or liked Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive, I think you will love this one. It's basically a former FBI agent and hitman going through PTSD and Trauma being obligated to the dirty work for the government by locating a missing girl and rescuing her from those that gets the main protagonist in deep schmidt as he does the work by killing and hammering those that harm her. It's a perfectly shot film that will get you in the edge of your seat. Her By the guy that brought MTV's Jackass or Being John Malkovich to life, it's basically a love story set in a dystopian future of Los Angeles about a lonely guy wanting to find and restore a relationship that mattered to him after divorcing his wife by establishing a primal connection with an A.I that he falls for. It's a damn beautiful film btw. Inherent Vice By Paul Thomas Anderson, this film may not appeal everyone but it's basically an undercover cop movie that involves weed and sex that personifies hippie life in Los Angeles. The Master Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, this film is basically about trauma that will question about religion. Not going to appeal everyone, but this film is definitely those movies that probably needs to be seen. AWARDS: And of course.... And finally.... UPDATE SUMMER 2022: WB & DC Entertainment Officially Announced that a sequel to the Oscar Winning Mentally-Ill Clown Joker is getting a sequel called Joker: Folie à Deux. Folie à Deux is a delusion or mental illness shared by two people in close association to one another. Could it be that Joker found his Harley Quinn after revealing that the sequel is a Drama/Musical? Edited August 4, 2022 by XxElBigMex913xX Edit and Revision 3.0. TheGodDamnMaster
I'm really stoked to see this. Easily my most anticipated film. I love his more traditional clownface design in this too, it's just something new for the character. We already know Joaquin Phoenix is going to deliver a knockout performance, I just wonder if it will be Oscar-worthy like Heath Ledger's. Mister Pink
People know I'm not a huge fan of the current trend of super hero films but Dark Knight trilogy and films like this really appeal to me. I've seen a couple of the trailers and one on the big screen. It just looks amazing. Phoenix is perfect for this role. He's just so adept at playing these strange, loner figures. His performance in The Master was just phenomenal. Ashamedly, I never watched PTA's Inherent Vice. I'm a huge fan of PTA but I think a friends review put me off seeing it. But Her, The Master, we know we'll get a brilliant acting performance. You can see it from the trailers. @Zello Tell me about it. It's the cringiest sort of "controversy" ever. I'm not sure who keeps giving these outrage types credence. The Time Ranger 1 🆆🅰🅽🅽🅰 🅶🅴🆃 🅱🅰🅲🅺 🆈🅾🆄🆁 🅻🅾🆅🅴
Zello
Saw it theater was pretty much empty because of the controversy probably. I was more afraid of the usher who took my ticket tbh scary looky man. I don't like giving the Joker an origin story I prefer him mysterious all I want is him falling into a vat of chemicals and going from there. Unfortunately he didn't fall into a vat of chemicals he is just truly crazy I guess it's good they didnt do that since this isnt a traditional comic book film. One thing I did like don't look if you don't want the surprise ruined. eyeballs
Super excited to see this flick. Looks like a superhero movie with a dark, edgy side and it's that kind of stuff I've always ate up. The hype is real! XxElBigMex913xX
TheGodDamnMaster
Just got back from the premiere. I'm struggling to gather my thoughts, but overall I enjoyed it. Phoenix owns that Best Actor Oscar as far as I'm concerned. XxElBigMex913xX
So I got back from seeing it, and I could definitely say that it's amazing. But however... [HUGE SPOILERS in Hidden Comment] Spoiler ...the film felt like a template from Taxi Driver which makes it kind of cheesy in a way that's familiar. No wonder why these top critics are too sheep when an Mentally-ill Arthur Fleck killed his own 'mother,' victims, and dreams that sparked the controversy these past few weeks. And this is what Todd Phillips tend to do with this film. Everything else on the Joaquin Phoenix's triumphant performance and the organically effective technical aspects such as Larry Sher's Cinematography, Hildur Guðnadóttir's melancholic score were excellent. And the film reminded me of V for Vendetta. Now I'm waiting for a Lex Luthor story now if DC Black is officially a go. Edited October 4, 2019 by xXElRadioDJ913Xx Final Touches Boah.. Mister Pink
*Vague spoilers. Speaking generally. Just back from this. Packed screening with the threatre showing this film every 20/30mins. There's a lot of hype. I saw the "4K" version. Whatever that means. It's better definition, I suppose? Anyway, strange thing is, everyone in the theatre clapped after it. There are two times this has happened in my 25+ years of visiting the cinema. Once at Meet the Fockers and just now with Joker. So how was the film? As I expected. Beautifully shot, great to watch Phoenix and really satisfying, plausible origin story. I use 'plausible' loosely but endearingly. It's has huge King of Comedy Vibes and Taxi Driver. Fans of those films will like Joker. Phillips said Scorsese was huge influence and you can see it. I don't think it's really deep or layered so much. It's really just a what you see is what you get origin story. A portrayal of Joker in a more realistic world. If someone like Joker existed, how would you expect he became that way. And this story answers it nicely. I've read some bullsh*t reviews about the film possibly inciting people to be inspired by the film in nefarious ways. Bullsh*t. Where were those people rallying about Taxi Driver? Or any horror film? They're not consistent in their logic and are trying to politicize this film. It's pathetic. Why single out this film? Why not John Wick, Rambo or any Terminator. sh*t, I might identify as T-800 from the future, because, that's my gender: LGBT - T stands for Terminator. I feel emboldened by Terminator as his disconnection and lack of human emotion. OK, I'm being really stupid right now.. And I see people trying to politicize the film at attach it to the alt-right. Are they mad? If anything Joker and his followers would be Antifa types and anarchist types, against the rich and powerful and into causing destruction in protest. Anyway, thats a silly conversation and I'm not blind to the irony of me complaining about the politicization and bringing it into the conversation here. I've even read reports that the film invites you to be on Joker's side and that he's glorified and justified. In my opinion, he's not at all. He's a sad pathetic man and although you can sympathize with him, even empathize, it doesn't take away the fact that this guy is a f*cking nutjob. Except now we know why he's a nutjob and it makes sense. Doesn't mean one would condone his behaviour. Overall, I'd recommend the film. They dropped the ball with this one entirely. I almost think that the reviewers have been paid off to praise it. It's completely nonsensical. I almost think that the reviewers have been paid off to praise it. It's completely nonsensical. Yeah but it's an origin story, not a part of the series or timeline. It's not like they're trying to re-write the story. It's more like making a superhero story in plausible real world way. What would it take in the real world for a villain to end up looking like a clown with lots of followers. It's nonsensical in the comic/superhero world and now it actually makes more sense. If you think of it literally and that logically within the timeline of the the whole existence of Joker, of course it doesn't make sense. Gotham City doesn't really look like Gotham City. As I said before, if a Joker exists in the world, this is how he could have came to be in a more realistic and humane sense and less in the comic book, fall into a vat of acid sense. It's bit like James Bond. He's a character that transcends logical time and space. If it's not plausible because of his age nor is any other film with Joker in it really because he first appeared back in the 40's. The problem is that in the world of this Joker, Bruce Wayne also exists, and he's going to become Batman some day. So there's a 40+ year old Joker who would be in his 60's by the time he encounters Batman for the first time. Nolan's Batman trilogy did the whole realism shtick more than a decade ago. acmilano
Watched and loved it. Quite a dark vibe and something that can happen in a real world. Guess that people really e show some respect for everyone, and there would be much less violence. One more thing; the atmosphere in the city of Gotham was quite similar to Liberty City in GTA 4. It felt like the same city that Niko will come in 2008. Niobium, Lonely-Martin, Max.pain and 2 others

Guest Billy Russo
No joke this is probably one of the best movies I've ever seen. I'm not even kidding. Look, I don't go out of way to the Cinema for many movies. I hate the experience, and being surrounded by other people, but this is one of the only movies where I stopped caring and enjoyed it immensely. I was so engrossed in it, and Joaquin Phoenix was masterful. I wasn't sure how he'd handle the role, but man did he make it his own and totally separate from Ledger's portrayal. The movie was so dark, I loved it. 13 hours ago, SonOfLiberty said: So I just saw it. Will probably need to watch it on DVD or something again to fully wrap my head around it lol. As much as I enjoyed watching this, I can't imagine how amazing it's going to be on Blu-Ray. Not to mention all the extras hopefully. This is one of those movies I want to watch in a more personal setting with headphones by myself. Will be a definite buy for me. I don't buy many DVD's anymore what with Netflix and Amazon Prime, but this movie deserves it.
junkpile
Seen it last weekend. Every scene was dominated by Joaquin Phoenix. The movie itself might have some flaws but nothing that toned down the entertainment. Loved Heath Ledger's performance as Joker, but this is a different league. Is this The Guy?
Looking at the nominees for best actor and it’s looking like Joaquin may be the front runner for this which is surprising since it’s a comic book movie. I hope he gets it though because I thought he did an incredible job and he just beat out Nicholson as my favorite Joker. As far as the movie goes I didn’t go in expecting much at all but to kill some time but I ended up loving it.
