[PS3] GTA V Installation Error xxxx/8486MB

Question

Pandora69_

So I am here with the infamous error that my game gets stuck at installing very close to the end of the game installation (8486MB). i got my disc and popped it into my playstation and had the game install onto my PS3. I let that happen and then I booted up the game and when the game install got ot around 7466/8486MB and stopped I gave it some time. After about an hour I restarted my PS3 and the download went down to 2186MB and then usually got stuck at around 1176/2186MB with again, waiting hours on end to see a result just to yield nothing. I heard some things about what it could be. Disc, HDD corruption, Storage, or corrupt install. I deleted the installs of the game, restarted the PS3 and then tried again, and got the same if not very similar results, just yielding different progression values. I made sure I had space, I have over 100GB free on my PS3 and I restarted the download 3 other times, so I have tried this 4 times. I don't know what else where is I can do. The disc seems fine as well, so if someone could please tell me how they fixed this in the past when it was presented to them (No, buying a digital copy of the game is NOT a solution) I have had this for a while and never had an issue, so I am ruling that out.

Yes, I checked this link for bug solutions, but all of it if not just over 90% is PC and I do not have a PC copy
Please and thank you. I am just trying to enjoy this game with a friend of mine and this shouldn't be happening.

That link is for the PC version of the game not console but anyways....

I know this is a silly question but are you sure you have enough space for the game? you need around 60GB for the whole game to install

If yes then disregard another thing you could try is deleting the day one update that installs, it's not suppose to install before the game itself is installed so uninstall that and then try again....

The most common reason people reporting this happening is.... when they found even the tinest of nick/scratch on the disc itself remove the disc and check the back of it to see if there are any nicks or scratch and if there is you may be have to get another disc or borrow one from a friend but before doing that take a very soft clothe such as a lense cleaning cloth and gently clean the back of the disc just using the cloth no cleaning solutions or anything and then put the disc back in...

Another option to try is...

  1. From the XMB (system screen), go to (Game) > [Game Data Utility].
  2. Important: Make sure you select [Game Data Utility]. Do NOT select [Saved Data Utility], as this will delete all of your saved games files.
  3. Highlight the game data utility file (i.e., name of a particular game you have been playing) you wish to delete.
  4. Press the button and select [Delete].
  5. Highlight "Yes" and press the button to confirm the deletion.
  6. A message indicating the file is being deleted will appear.
  7. A "Delete completed." message will appear once the file has been successfully deleted.
  8. Once all of the files have been deleted, go back to the XMB home menu.
  9. Reboot the game.

If that doesn't work try installing it on a seperate device such as a Portage Hard Drive (SSD Drives are the best as they have quick loading) and if none of this works seek a friend who has a PS3 and see if the disc will work on their console and if so ask them if you can install the game on their device to see if the problem persist if it does then it is 100% your disc causing the issue and will need to be replaced
