Crips is actually tolerable now (and useful!). If you sit at camp long enough he'll tell you stories about his life which I think is pretty cool

Are the movement controls the same? Like L3 to walk and hold X to run? Hope touching L3 doesn't make you run now?

I've had one cool encounter: During the initial trader mission collecting the wagon, a carriage driver lost control of his carriage and it headed for the cliff-side overlooking Armadillo. I tried to reach it but didn't make it before it went over. The guy sounded pretty worried and ran off.

I think it's collector related, I'm getting new noises and vibrations and found 4 unmapped collectibles so far. If you see a an injured animal it's worth checking for arrows and I got a tarot card in the Van Horn waiting room.

Okay, I may have jumped to conclusions and been misinformed. Actually getting time to play and seeing it first hand the new animation for looting is not terrible. The example I saw was literally the player waving their hand without bending down and looting like that. The game feels snappier as well.

Enemy shootouts feel so much smoother to me, I've been able to take out groups of enemies much easier without getting stuck behind objects or loading/looting animations. Initial reports made it sound like the looting animation was completely gone, whereas we still bend down to pick up items, we just don't pick the body up. I actually like the new changes

To my shame I was the same and was too hasty in my condemnation. The animation for looting is fine, you still run the risk of leaving yourself exposed so its all good.

I think the sound you guys are referring to is the the Idle Timer warning?

 

Try standing still for two minutes and wait for the Idle Warning to pop up in the top left corner of your HUD, the noise happens at the same time. Is that what you're talking about?

Don't think so, I've had it while looking in menus and I've never heard that noise for idling before the update.

Anyone bought the weapon variants?  I have styled all of my weapons.  When I select the collector variant, do I lose the my gold plated weapons?  Also, do the weapon variants do anything for the weapon, such as increase damage or accuracy, reload speed?

I was hearing a clicky noise while standing and checking out all the new stuff. Turns out it was my character cracking his neck. Not sure if it’s the same noise you’re referring to though.

yes to the losing your gold plated variant of the weapon, no to everything else.

Oh it was a thing before unfortunately. It's just that not many showdown players use snipers, so you don't get caught in the dance much.

 

Now it could end up bad. Although, the new aim assist might help.

Collector isn't free as it oughta be, having tons of issues with mission objectives (can't interact with them, turn-in won't work etc.), getting caught in eternal load screens...I'm not one to exaggerate over technical hiccups but it felt like early beta days tonight, am I just unlucky?

Only issue I had all day was a collectable didn't spawn even though I was getting the vibrations as if it did, which probably had something to do with the gang hideout spawning in the same spot, I'm guessing.

 

Been absolutely faultless other than that.

Hrrmmm yeah, none of has it been anything that hasn't happened to me here and there in the period since the game became reliably stable overall, guess I'm just having a bit of bad luck :/
