So the online map now shows "Rival Collector". This is new right? Never seen it on there before. Definitely never ran across one of these Rival Collectors. Has anyone else?

I assume it means the NPC rival collectors that can spawn, if so they're not new. Keep on the look out for a horse being ridden that's carrying big bags/boxes on the side of the saddles, it'll have an NPC on it that you can loot for collectables.

I think it's new to being posted on the map, I've run into the collector NPCs a few times before, but I don't recall seeing them shown on the map.

Yea I think its definitely new to the map, as I use it quite abit. I can't believe I've never seen one of these NPC collectors (or even knew about them), as much as I play. Are they a white dot like a random encounter? I'm now obsessed with finding one.

I usually notice the saddle bags as I pass, they're like wicker trunks almost on each side of the horse, and turn around to drop the NPC.

There's always a collectible, so it's well worth it.

Yes, the ones that I’ve encountered are looking over a cliff and appear as a white dot. I always get a treasure map from them.

Anyone know of a place to find a map of daily collectible locations?

Bird eggs in trees... I loathe you.  Sometimes I can shoot the hell out of you with a .22 and do you fall to the ground? NO!

I believe this is a gunsmith conspiracy to make me buy more ammo.

They probably will do something to make it harder for a while but over time it might be possible for the smart guys who figured out the map in the first place to come up with something. One thing you can be sure about with Rockstar though is that they won't attempt to fix the basics of the game like riding your horse or setting up a camp but I'm sure they will do an amazing job at stopping people making money. If they did nerf the map completely and make it a grind to rank up then that could be the time I follow all the other high ranks and find something different to play. Right now for me, the collecting is one of the few things that keeps the game fun. If they take that away then there will be nothing left to make it worth getting frustrating at all the broken things in the game.

I wouldn't mind if they changed Collectors in a way that nerfed the online map *if* they overhauled how the profession worked. They really need to give players a bit more control over competing these collections. Because let's face it, outside of a few very patient and determined die-hards, 99% + of the player population will never scour the entire game map looking for those last 2 coins or whatever...they won't find them in a reasonable amount of time if R* do their job and fully randomize item locations. And I've generally maintained, across all games of all genres, that if your game content or reward systems excludes the overwhelming majority of your player base from having a realistic chance of achieving them...it's probably an unfair, unbalanced or poorly designed game system. Especially if the reward (A few dollars more), doesn't really justify the expense in time/effort/uncertainty.

Without the Online map and predictable spawns, the 'End game' for Collectors (finishing Collections) just isn't worth it IMO. Not if there's no way to predict where an item will be. The only method we have now, buying maps from Nazar, is terribly cost-inefficient. Reducing the price of these drastically might help I suppose, but is kinda lazy tbh.

I would keep world spawns in since that's one of the draws of the profession. But randomized as much as possible (tarot cards may not become bottles for example, due to graphical requirements). Possibly randomized by player as well, player A may not find the same item in a chest as Player B (if an item was there at all). I'd limit each player to having only 1 copy of any collectible, and I'd prevent selling individual items. Only collections.  Basically like how collections worked in the Single player game (if I recall correctly). It's all or nothing. Which means introducing a game system to make finding those last missing pieces attainable.

The main addition would be some sort of Mission generation system that rewards you with treasure maps to items you do not already have.  Something like a 'Mystic Messenger Owl' perch for your Camp or what-have-you. It flies out and returns with a message from Nazar that launches a Mission to acquire a treasure map. You can no longer buy them from her directly. You start with an old, wizened, but broken down Owl that takes 60 minutes or so to return to camp with a Mission. Level up to buy better Mystic Owls with faster return speed (think Mash production here). Missions would be the usual assortment, with some spice: Invade a Lemoyne Camp, defend the Indian reserve, search inside a Grizzly/Cougar den, escort a lost trapper through wolf-infested forest, stealth raid on Butcher Creek, etc.  At the end you (and members of your posse) get a Treasure map to 1 or more collectibles you don't already own.

Anyway, however it would work, some combination of world wandering and mission-based gameplay to slowly, but steadily, finish our collections and earn some money in a more interesting fashion is needed. I like the idea of having 2 professions 'based' in Camp, rather then just the Trader. It introduces another item to the game loop, another ball to juggle between hunting, waiting on mash, bootlegger missions, resupplies and Bounty hunting (which kind of needs a buff, or tie-in with some other game system).

But all the above is moot I guess. R* never go backwards and significantly rework a DLC if it loses it's lustre, becomes obsolete with future DLC, etc.  They'd nerf the Online map and just leave Collector as-is, for the die-hard few to worry about largely forgotten 'Collections' (including the Weekly, which would become largely unattainable as well).

BUT THE BENZ

we don't make any gold collecting so there's nothing of concern really, or is there? collecting simply means hours of ingame-time,  that's what R* and T2 wanna see I guess.

and who cares if we have hundreds of thousands of dollars when at the core you need GOLD to accquire the finer things in life. right?!

So if a game disconnects as I grab a tarot card, and when I log back in the card is not in my inventory nor in the original location, should I wait for next rotation?

It’s a late reply, but if you are on PC, delete the cloud.dat files from your temp folder in app data, switch to story mode or quit the game and back to online and you can collect the item again.

I won't be surprised if they nerf the Collector role... However, they've sort of set themselves up by making Nazar's maps useless in the long run. What's the point in trying to finish collections when the maps are made so that there'll always be one or two pieces missing? It's Rockstar being Rockstar trying to make it difficult for us so that we'll go and buy Gold bars instead. Make the maps usable so that we can finish collections only by using them and I won't look at the Collector's Map ever again.

I actually still buy Nazar's maps as they aren't very pricey. I usually buy them two or three times until I have begun my collections, and then I turn to the Collector's map so that I can finish collecting at some point. It's just not fun for me to look at the map from the beginning and get grinding, but as it is I need to look at it sooner or later if I wish to finish a collection at all.

And I agree that this role is by far the most fun. Especially how it takes you around the map in one and the same session and lets you see different vistas, well, that combined with the general randomness of the sessions (strangers asking for help, rival moonshiner camps to destroy, and of course, other players) makes it the most entertaining in my opinion. If anything they should expand on this role, and if they nerf it then please at least make Nazar's maps useful for us.

Months ago they talked about introducing changes to this role so basically yes, they'll nerf it again. Maybe introducing more cycles to the item locations, maybe making it totally random, maybe reducing the item/collection prices or something. Glad that I got all the collector buckles ages ago.....

They could, add "special items" that are exclusive to those maps.

With regards to the collectors role as it currently stands, even though the item such an arrowhead are still cycle based, and you will pick up an arrowhead for example in that cycle location for an arrowhead.

Currently, most of the cycle spots I've been testing have given random items each time. I got three different types of Arrowheads in what was previously a static location for the Quartz Arrowhead.

And for the Jewelry locations, in each static location, you will get a random piece of Jewelry instead of what was there previously, so I've tested a few Necklace locations, but each time have been given either a bracelet, ring, necklace or earrings.

So digging locations, whilst you know what type of collectible is in the location, you will get a random item instead.

Heirlooms and non digging locations seem to currently static and the same item is in the exact location.
