Otherwise this was my thought as well. But it would be interesting to see how much a full medium or large wagon brings in terms of cash.

Twenty five crates (One small Wagon) nets you sixty eight dollars so logically if we double that for a Medium Wagon then its a hundred and thirty eight dollars for a Medium and two hundred and seventy two dollars for a full. These are all on local deliveries.

Rough guess but add on twenty percent extra for a long delivery and its over three hundred dollars per Large Wagon for a long distance sale.

Twenty five crates takes fifty minutes so a full one hundred crates would take three hours and twenty minutes.

Ghostthatshigh

I like the trader so far, made me enjoy hunting again . I wasn't expecting to be able to craft anything , just some extra cash and I've made quite a bit so far. I went on a long hunting trip in the mountains and made my way to tall trees basically hunting on foot most the time .

@Jason

Any chance you can clear this up for me or someone else in this topic.

Whats the difference between Materials and Production? Does doing a Supply Run net me Materials or can they only be done by donating Pelts and such?

i pitched my camp in Big Valley right by the river and every time I get to camp there’s a horde of pronghorns there, I walk one to the table and have one on my horse, sometimes donating 6-7 carcasses in a few minutes filling up my materials bar like halfway. I’m never moving my camp lol.

A supply run enables production, but nets you some materials too. But you mainly fill the materials bar by spending carcasses and pelts etc.

Has anyone had a supply mission where you have to hunt a certain animal, take it to someone to trade for the supplies, and ride the supply wagon back?

It only gave me 10 minutes to do it, if you can't find the animal you are f*cked, i managed to find a pronghorn fairly quickly thankfully.

You can donate by hunting, doing a supply run, or purchase them, it's all the same. Production is the same as GTAO, simply the process of turning raw materials into sellable goods.

Yeah. Wanted me to shoot a turkey. Usually they are scattered all over the map. But not this time. Mission fail.

My main issue with the trader role is the same issue I had with it before it was an official role (my main source of money has always been hunting and I spent 90% of my time in rdr2 just hunting) and they didn't do anything to address it.

Your horse and /or wagon's inventory is not saved.  This makes normal hunting trips that aren't quick risky due to disconnects (I've lost hundreds of dollars of pelts from this).  The time it would take to fill a wagon instead of horse isn't realistic and makes it pointless.

I don't get disconnected a lot, but when I do it seems to always be my luck to have a horse full of pelts.   No fing way am I taking the risk of filling up a horse and wagon with pelts before delivery.  I think loosing that much time/money in one shot would be enough to make people quit the role if not the game.  Lord knows I've quit for the day or two over loosing a full load.

This needs to be addressed for this role to really work.  Also frankly this role is not that profitable in time tv money.  I've sold 7 loads so far and can say without a doubt I can make more selling to butcher in the time it takes.

Now where it does pay is in exp.  If you want to just make money skip it, if you want to make decent money and good xp too, it's pretty great.

Now fix the dang inventory disappearing on disconnects already Rockstar! I'd love to be able to actually make use of that wagon!

When you start up the Trader business after you get the wagon and go to your camp. There is another cutscene I would assume right? I was disconnected as I approached my camp. When I got back on the butchers table and everything was set up. Was I supposed to get some startup supplies? Because I didn’t

All perfect pelts and animals came to $62.50 local delivery/$78.12 distant.

That was my delivery price as well (25 units) but I've been throwing him any old crap just to keep the material in stock and for the XP for donations.

The pelt quality doesn't seem to affect the sell price just the amount of material you get for it.

So is the general consensus - don't buy supplies, as there's no profit?

I personally would say so, given the fact that the mission are not time consuming like GTA Online.

Mate, you need to read a letter from the mail office first and then go to the location to start the trader role (easiest way is to just press Trader on the main menu) Different person from the collector role :)

Do you have to buy the trader buy in to get a dog or can you get one without buying the table thing?

I saw the option to buy a dog from the Wilderness Outfitters before getting the Trader role, so yes.

Perfect pelts dont increase your profit, they increase the amount of Materials added to your stock.

Ahhh my bad bud. I was gonna ask if that was the case. And she moves each day. Go near Thieves Landing. She'll be around there! Tezfunz2 has a photo of the location on Twitter.

Materials + Supplies = Production = Goods

Materials: Acquired from donating animal materials (carcasses, bones, feathers, and pelts) to Cripps. The first supply mission Cripps sends you on gives you +50 Materials to get things started

Supplies: Acquired by purchasing or doing a supply run

If either runs out, production comes to a halt. Without materials Cripps has nothing to process. Without the supplies, Cripps can't process the materials. You can't just buy supplies and let Cripps do his thing, like a GTA Biker Business/Bunker, becuase he'll run out of materials. I haven't tried buying them, but 1 supply run appears be enough for Cripps to process 25 units.

Currently I'm trying to figure out the $ per Material ratio to figure out what's better suited for donating vs selling to a butcher.

Oh, and being a Trader can be profitable as a Posse. When I ran sales with a friend last night, the Posse Member was making a little over 50% of the sale. (If I remember correctly it was Posse Leader = $62.50, Posse Member = $32.50) Meanwhile you can supply Cripps with materials while doing Bounty Hunting. One player in the posse goes after the Bounty, ideally the Posse Leader, while the other player hunts and donates materials to Cripps. The player hunting still gets the GB/$/RXP/XP for completing the Bounty, even if they were in a different region the entire time. The "hunter" can then notify the Posse Leader when Cripps is ready to sell again.

Also it’s cheaper to use gold to purchase the dog. Charged me 12 gold bars for the lab(equivalent to $300) but wanted $400 cash for it. The other dog was cheaper if paid for in gold as well.

Anyone rank 4 yet? There is another letter, something about an invitation to new events.

Interested in this too, hoping it expands the trader role

Last night 2 us of did a supply mission delivering a wagon/oil tanker. At the start, the wagon wheel at the top was 3/4 surrounded by a red status bar. We had 6 minutes left on the delivery timer when the red bar cleared. The wagon blew up.

You get 5 trader xp for each item donated, just donate loads of feathers to rank up quicker.
