I havent got the Wagon yet, but I find jumping onto NPCs horses to be useful. You can put a carcass and pelt on your own horse and keep riding the NPCs until you put a new carcass on the NPC, then ride to camp.

Seems like every lobby I join has more than 15 people. If I go to an isolated part of the map will animals spawn?

Is there ever a time of day/week where the numbers drop?

That was...wow.

Can anyone tell me the best camp location for gathering materials? Preferably a zone near cougars as they seem to give the best material worth.

For me, it's the Heartlands, anywhere close to Emerald Ranch/Heartland Overflow. Also, the road that runs southwest of Valentine near Downes Ranch. Big Valley/Little Creek River is okay. For Cougars, I'd go Great Plains, since there's 3 Cougars spawns.

The Hunting Wagon is the single best trader, hunting, even just selling to the butcher item.

It is totally necessary, with all the server disconnects.

I realized this again yesterday, plagued by "disconnected due to a fault in the rockstar gaming servers" again. It makes a big difference, mowing down 2 to 3 star pronghorn/wolves that spawned on you (growing to love those wolf "random" spawns ;) ), then dismissing your horse and dumping them in the wagon before the next disconnect. I'm to the point now where, no matter what I'm doing, if I get a perfect pronghorn/deer/couple of wolves it is immediately "flee" the horse and summon the hunting wagon; For best results, go to a fork in the road so the stupid wagon has choices and can "find" you.

I've made most of my $13000 I currently have, as well as what I spend on clothes/themes/wagons/etc. from $500 trader local sales. Even so, the 4 or 5 ones that were "disconnected due to a fault in the rockstar servers" REALLY HURT. 4-5, even out of quite a few successful ones, are too many. There should be a way for them to tell when things were going OK, then the disconnection was their fault, so when you get back in the game you still have the materials and can at least just repeat the sales mission. Until they do that, I'm starting to "cheese" it and use the interactive collector map thing to finish out the last few items in collections for that guaranteed "rockstar disconnect friendly" cash.

Trader is the one I REALLY like. The animal spawn problem with 17 plus players/whatever, as well as the disconnects, ruin it. I'm still silly enough to try, but it gets old.

Why they don't just LIMIT the lobby to 16/whatever players, where I still see really good spawning, is beyond me; You notice instantly, when it is at 16 and things are great and then it cruds out and you look and you are at 21 plus.

My current favorite camp is somewhere like Rio Bravo, near the Rio Del Lobo rock. There are a couple of reasons. First, it is easier to get a condor if the stupid resupply mission is for one (often right by the "o", on the map under "Ri"o" Del Lobo Rock." Also, the "random" pronghorn spawn groups seem to be not affected by the "no animals, ANYWHERE" full lobby thing. So you can be riding along, seeing no animals, then suddenly five pronghorn (boy, do I spaz out then, if I even get ONE perfect and a couple 2 stars I feel good.)

If nothing else is working, I "cheese" it and go to the sleeping cougar spawn just above the "T" in "Tall Trees",  on the map. I found something that works fairly well, using the Hunting wagon and then riding east along the road, to the fork and then circling back to the spawn point. Often, by the time I get back with that slower wagon, the next cougar has spawned. Since some of them can even be just one star, I'm happy once I have a few 3 star and 2 star and the wagon is full.

Still love being a trader, hunting and donating to camp was one of my favourite things in the story mode leading up to chapter 5; so having this as a passive business is fun without It feeling forced.

Got a ridiculous amount of $ right now, is the large delivery wagon worth investing In?

Comes with  greater risk, as any players in range are notified of your run, & you can not be in defensive mode & if your wagon is destroyed/stolen you get nothing, distant sales best done with a group/posse.

I've "cheesed" some distant sales for the daily (if it is something like "do 2 long distance sales.")

I wait until I do the local delivery for 100 materials, celebrating if I manage it without a disconnect. That is the main reason I don't do the long distance sales, the main enemy would be the rockstar disconnect.

THEN I do the long distance delivery, with 1 or something materials; I've never had a single player bother me, usually never seeing any on radar even.

Then I realized I was stupid; Since it was only 1 material (one bag when smashed wagon),  I could smash the wagon then throw it on my horse and take off at high speed (you still get the credit for goods sold, which is easy since it is only one bag.) That little wagon it gives you is actually hard to "break", though. Then I did this last night, since it wasn't registering "distance traveled with a delivery" for the daily, but the stupid one bag went underground after I smashed the wagon on purpose after the distance for the delivery daily completed. It is still just the one bag for 6/whatever materials (not sure what the cut off is, when it is more than one bag.)

So with the hunting wagon, do goods stay in the wagon after you leave the session?

And how many deer carcass can you fit in there at one time?

Carcasses remain in the wagon permanently, I've had some cougars sitting in there for over a month now.

It can hold 5 deer carcasses; think of the cart as having 10 inventory spaces - large carcasses that would go on the back of your horse take up 2 spaces, small carcasses that would hang on your saddle take up 1 space.

50 Medium Pelts (placed on horses ass)

PLUS

10 Medium Carcasses (hangs from your horse)
OR
5 Large Carcasses (placed on back of horse)
OR
5 Extra Large Pelts (Bear, Elk, Moose, etc)

Not sure if it's a thing, but every time I go on a delivery mission, I whistle for my horse when departing from my camp. It follows me all the way to my destination, of course.
Each and every time I do this, no enemies spawn at the delivery location and I can make an easy delivery. Could be coincidence, but the few times I didn't whistle for my horse, enemies spawned at the delivery location. 🤷‍♂️

It is, because I ALWAYS have my horse follow; Those guys still spawn (unfortunately ;) ) They just sometimes don't, so you got lucky. I have a camp right near Benedict point, which makes a delivery to Benedict INSANELY easy  unless guys are there to shoot at me. Sometimes bad guys are there, sometimes not.

Yeah, I never whistle for my horse when I drive the wagon (I've had issues with his dumb ass somehow managing to get in the way numerous times) and I'm about 50/50 overall for having NPC shootouts at my delivery points. I'd prefer to have them more often tbh, there's a ton of loot to be had if the corpses don't decide to spontaneously despawn.

And it's the few bits of action you get with that role.
This is how I've always looked at it:
Collector: Highest profit/Least action

Trader: Medium profit/Medium action

Bounty: Medium profit/Most action

I've had the buyers killed by those NPC's once. Not wanna see them die again with a $500 load I can't deliver. I thought they couldn't die on a local sale, but apparently they can.

Deliveries must be clean, swift and bring in the money. :D

Your goods can also be destroyed be the NPC's. So be extra cautious.

Fair enough! I run long distance sales as much for the excitement of potential danger as for the extra $125. I've been pretty lucky and haven't lost a single sale so far for any reason (gameplay or disconnects) but I probably just jinxed myself by saying that...

I am always extra cautious with the goods and sometimes even travel along the displayed route, to be sure enough I don't ride off cliffs. And I don't want to waste ammo on enemies much, to keep the profits maxed out :D :D

I lost one sale to NPC enemies and a few due to my own stupid mistakes, like running the wagon off a cliff or into trees while checking my phone, not minding the battery of my controller, that sorta thing.

When I ride up to the delivery location and hear gunshots, I get off the wagon and jump on my horse to go kill the enemies. They always leave the wagon alone when there's no one on it.

This spot, if I could purchase this little plot of heaven . . .  Not Thieves Landing per say, but where my camp is located. My favorite spot in the game.

It seems to be:

I base this on not having a camp, since I could not get one to spawn and gave up. Sometime later, after doing other stuff, I'll see "Production stopped, Resupply needed", but of course there is no camp on the map.

They made camps work REALLY stupid; Even with 24 players, there are FAR more than 24 possible camps. So the game should EASILY move you to a camp in the district you were in, OR a nearby district. Yet I'll log in, with no camp, but ride by as many as THREE of the choice spots I've had my camp in with ALL of them EMPTY! I've noticed this both in Rio Bravo and Cattail Pond.

Has anyone ever had this happen? I got my camp nicely tucked away right next to the stables at Thieves Landing:

Started a local delivery, destination Thieves Landing and my camp moved:

Thought I'd have the easiest delivery possible, but nope. It still was a very easy delivery, but pretty weird to see my camp moved for the delivery.

I've had my camp up and move for other reason, even before my eyes. But not for a sale.

One of the camp locations I know of is almost the same spot as a gang hideout. So when it comes time for the gang hideout, the camp moves.

I actually think something along these lines is why we see the camp moved so often. It's in the place of an event that takes priority.
