For everyone crying about gold costs for the roles, if you could dry your eyes for a min and answer this it'd be great....

Would you rather pay $250 Start Up costs or 15 Gold per Role? There has to be a start up cost, I thought it'd be even worse than this judging how they've been throwing gold at us since the 1 Bar per Rank Up weeks.

We also had 2 weeks of double gold for each daily challenges. and today they gave us an extra week!

I had a feeling there was going to be a start up cost...Especially when Rockstar was generous with all the gold bonuses..

This tbh....

I was seriously expecting 25-30 Bars/$500 per Role so I'm surprised.

It's a huge bummer to see that the Trader role will develope into a role involving sell missions. Worst of all, we're gonna be Cripps' dog. f*ck that crap.

As far as I've seen, the Collector seems the most lonewolf role of all 3. Not sure if it will be the most profitable one, but it seems you'll be left alone while doing your job.

I think the most anticipated thing of this update will be the character rebuild, so I can fix the eyes of my character.

Trader looked like the best out of the 3, now looks the worst by far. I hope I can at least use the wagon to hunt&sell on my own, not just resupply Cripps. And being able to buy supplies instead would be pretty handy tho. I knew the GTAO business model would come to RDO sooner or later. Sigh.

I say this because I know I'll end up doing all the sh*t of this update for the sake of tasting everything, even the biker trader selling missions. But not right at the beginning, when griefers will be salivating for their easy and slow preys. The first thing to do will be goofing around doing collector (especially) and bounty hunting stuff.

By now we can only stockpile some more gold and money to prepare for this.

What I will say about this update from what I've seen and I'll preface this by saying the BH and Collector sound like a lot fun, but I'm not seeing any of this "grand plan" they talked about in the interviews in this at all.

They talked about a bounty hunter being potentially able to be more of a morally grey hunter, or even an outright morally black (low honour?), and you'd get rewards for this to the point that people could recognise you as a low honour bounty hunter. From the UI they showed and from what they've said, I aint seeing anything that even hints to this and I'd be surprised if it's hidden away somewhere.

Likewise for Trader, the idea that this could be the start of your own business and reaching the point where you could maybe even own your own shop. We're working out of our camp for Cripps' company and having to fend off attacks in an all too familiar fashion.

Collector seems like the best of the bunch so far though I'll say that.

I hope they add some wash station for my character so she could clean up the damn dirt off her face 😤

Collector seems like surveying the land and looking for hidden treasures. I do love the RDR2 map and exploring. I'll probably start with that, then dabble in the others at some point.

I'm hoping we can just hop in and out the different roles to experience them all simultaneously in a way.

Also, hope this update brings world / game fixes. I.e, Alert errors everyone gets. - if that every gets fixed...

Collector seems the best because it seems like it will stay relevant especially the rewards. It just seems like that role will age well and Bounty Hunter would be the next best role. Trader would be cool if it was OUR business and Cripps worked for us like what he does now and let us decide the name of our business like in GTAO. If someone wants to name the business Player & Cripps Co. fine, but we should be the front runner. I wouldn't mind raids for Trader if they were all npc raiders while on defensive mode and we change to offensive mode it allows player raiders in the mix.

The way I see it is do the Bounty Hunter role and get all the bells and whistles as well as the Collector Role, but once finished with the Bounty Hunter role by getting all possible unlocks go full Collector with an occassional Trader Role. That Trader Role hurts a little though considering I'm a fan of hunting pelts, meats, etc, but I'm also not surprised it turned out that way either .

Wow, there is a lot to be excited about here for me.

One of the things I noticed in the pic showing the Collector - Rank 14 screenshot is at the bottom of the Equine Assistance pamphlet is says:

“Tip - Speak with farmers on your journeys. They will oft times plow up collectables and relics not knowing the significance.”

This, to me, eludes to more NPC interaction, which I think is pretty interesting. (Too bad my guy can’t actually speak!)

The Collector role definitely seems more appealing now with more details.

The thing with BH and Collector is that they both sound like they're gonna play at the pace we want to play at that time. Want action? BH. Want to chill? Collector sounds perfect for that.

Trader on the other hand is gonna be chilled hunting coupled with arse cheek clenching dread when you're driving your wagons to and from places. Your camps gonna also gonna be getting attacked, which sounds like a gigantic pain in the arse.

Why not have both Options?

Especially the camp one considering I never could find my camp for the past 3 months. How much you want to bet it would get attacked why we are clear across the map gathering pelts. I don't know I'll at least try it a couple of times, but I see myself returning to the old ways of hunting.

About camp raids, since there's no smartphones in 1899, you're not supposed to get the advice of a raid when you're too far away from camp. Maybe they trigger only when you're in or close by? The companion dog is supposed to alert you beforehand. I see the dog being extra agitated if a raid is about to pop up, like it's feeling strangers wandering around or something.

my personal opinion regarding the trader role and it being a potential griefer's paradise is that it would have been a novel idea if instead of encouraging griefing, they configured it so the attacks were carried out predominantly by randomly spawning gangs of NPCs, and have a system where other players were rewarded with gold/RDO$ themselves by coming to the aid of trader wagons that were being attacked, or at least have that option for players who aren't motivated by griefing, who could help defend wagons against those who take pleasure from doing so.

it could have tied into the honour system nicely.

maybe there's potential at some point for a role where players are rewarded for intervening in the favour of traders who are being attacked, maybe a bone fide lawman role.

hell, it's got the potential to tie into the bounty hunter roll as well.

just a thought..

Since i don't know how the raids and business works in GTAO , i have a question. Are the raids only activated when you have "supplies" in your property , or they are completely random? And with how much frequence do they occur?

I liked the sound of the trader role but after today i have doubts. I consider the camp my safe space so that i could get attacked while being there distastes me.

You just improved on what I was thinking. All raiders/gangs are npcs and the people who stumble by a raid on a trader's camp or wagon would be rewarded. I like your idea. This could create more gameplay for Bounty Hunters in the area of the attacks.

Well, I for one am extremely excited.

I'm thinking I'm gonna be a Collector for a day job, and a Trader on the side

GTAO when you stored stuff depending on the business it could be raided. Now if you have upgraded security measure at the business/storage area usually in the form of security guards the less likely it would get raided.

Aye and you could be right but we have new binos confirmed for the Collector role (which that image is from). We do however have an eyepatch for BH so maybe they have added an eye accessory slot.

I look the like of the Collectors outfit, gunbelt and bandolier.

The 15 gold price tag for getting the licenses though. Lower it R* make it 5 each.

Finally able to have more outfits and name them though, nice.

Thank you! Sadly the eyes are a little messed up. Not to noticeable from afar, but it's seen with closer up shots. If the editor does reset it from the beginning, then I'll probably keep him the same. :)

I also wonder if the extra belts are part of the new coats or they are a new slot.

thats what I might do too if they reset it. If that is the case they might as well drop a 2nd character slot.

I'm hoping its another slot, but I feel it may be a part of the coat

But I want a belt(not the holster belt) like Sadie's

The Gun Belts, Holsters, Satchels, Weapons Style Mods make everything in the game look simple and plain.  We are going to look like cowboys and girls from the highest fashion places in the world.   I am liking the new update images.  Has anyone determined if the horse or guns shown are new?  I know they have new gun styles that appear more noticeable possibly only in the images and not so much in game as is currently available.  My only problem is the new buckles and what not make our old gold buckles really ugly.  The new ones look way better.  I wonder if there is anyone out there who has obtained all the buckles at this point. I have 87 and have 33 left. I am over half way complete on approximately 17 of the ones I have not completed.  I guess the outfit slots will help as long as they are not bugged.

The more I think about it, the more I get drawn to just one role alone, The Collector. Also, that role isn't gonna be enough to keep me glued to this game. Even when there will be invite only sessions in the future, so we can be a Trader with far less risk, I am not gonna be a Cripps lakey. So far, this update might not be the life saver I was hoping it to be. The entry fee doesn't bother me at all. We've got that for free in many ways already and will still get it for free on several terms. But, even though I didn't expect that much from the roles, it's even worse than I imagined. We're going back to the Biker DLC whereas I was really hoping Rockstar would go a different way, like they said in the early days of RDO.

Not gonna lie, I am quite dissappointed, at least with the info we got so far. Hopefully they'll release some extra info that could change my mind, but so far, nah. This is not gonna be it.

Also, yet another currency to grind for? Come on, man.
