Do you have to own an equipped MOC in order to have an armed Insurgent?

Thinking about some things to do with the money from this week's double bunker sales, and if I'm reading things correctly, I would have to buy an MOC and equip it with the vehicle mod shop in order to get an armed insurgent.  Is this right?  Kinda makes me question the dollars vs payoff since I already have a Terrorbyte that has a weapon workshop so the only real benefit would be the vehicle workshop

Thoughts?

Your question feels incomplete but I'll try to answer it.

The 'regular' insurgent is a PV and can be modded at LSC.

The Turreted Insurgent is a Pegasus vehicle which you cant modify. However you can turn it into a Custom PV by use of a Benny-esque upgrade in the MOC Modshop.

Personally I wouldnt get the MOC just for that unless you got money to burn and want a PV Turreted Insurgent real bad.

I think the Pick-Up Custom upgrade from the Pegasus vehicle can also be done in the Avenger vehicle workshop but NOT the arena workshop. (You can modify it in the latter with the weapon expert, or put Benny's wheels on it with the Benny's mechanic, but can't do the upgrade itself.)

The main reason to get the MOC is to unlock trade prices. https://gta.fandom.com/wiki/Mobile_Operations

The personal vehicle storage is unique to the MOC, so you might want to get that if you already have an Avenger.

This post makes me grateful that I've played GTA online organically over the last six years and unlocked everything in a natural step-by-step process. Imagine coming into this game over the last year and having to unlock and pay for everything at literally hundreds of millions of dollars and trillions of hours? Goodbye wallet and life.

Yep, that's me...grind grind grind.  The worst are the research unlocks for the bunker.  F Rockstar for not letting you choose what is getting researched.  Of 10 unlocks, 5 are liveries for me.

Urgghh! The bunker research random paywall; I remember it well and it was one of the most annoying aspects of any update ever released. Besides the explosive rounds on the sniper rifle and the rockets on the Oppressor Mk I (now outdated), you don't need any of this stuff. Yet, there is something in our brains that tells us we need it ALL!

That's....involved and I don't have my PS4 hardwired into Ethernet.  So no go for me.  I will likely just wait until I have a metric f*ckton of money to complete these as the ratio of liveries to actual usable sh*t is pretty ridiculous

Just untick "Connect to internet" in the Network settings. It's one of the easiest "glitches" out there.

The biggest joke is that the Insurgent, Technical, and Dune FAV miniguns are downgrades compared to the stock gun.

What do you want the Insurgent for?

The Barrage is on sale and comes stock as a personal vehicle with two mounted guns and has excellent explosive defence.

For me it is the AA trailer's flak cannons which make every 5-drop Merryweather bunker sale a breeze.

Until you hit the Insurgent with the cannon and it OHK it. I find the Explosive Rounds on the Shotgun and Heavy Sniper much better for that mission.

True :D

Gotta be careful with it.

I have used a fully upgraded APC (mine) towing a Flak Cannon Trailer only once and the destruction it brings is unparalleled.

I have an AA trailer (I forgot which weapon I got) but haven't used it yet. How do you spawn it for the 5 drop Merryweather? Is it a Pegasus?

No,  it's a personal vehicle and you wont be able to call another personal vehicle at the same time IIRC.

Call it via Interaction Menu -> Vehicles

For both Heists and missions as well as broomstick boi griefers.  I pulled the trigger on the MOC and Insurgent Custom this afternoon.  Expensive, but with the 2x Bunker payouts this week I'll grind like a mofo and make it back.  I had $5MM ish and went down to $1MM after doing all of it but I'm already almost back to $2M and have a half full bunker that I'll sell tonight.

Don't get me wrong. I love my Insurgent PUC but I was just wondering if its worth all the expense when the barrage is on sale and comes stock with twin mounted .50 cals.

The MOC Cab with the trailer detached is the best vehicle to drive around in the game seeing as its practically invincible to everything.

This is good to know re: the MOC cab...did you get the flat front one?  It kind of sucks you have to have multiple people to do any of the missions in the MOC though...how do they pay and are there any favorites or ones to avoid?  RE: Insurgent vs Barrage, the Barrage I read can be a pain rollover wise, doesn't ram anything and is not great for occupant protection, and I plan to use it in ways where it will likely be under fire a lot, so decided to bite the bullet [pun intended]

No, I got the classic American one over the flat fronted European one. The Phantom Custom can carry three people sitting on the back if the trailer is unhooked and I think has a slightly higher speed.

Only worth it for the discounts. I only have the Oppressor and APC one done because I wanted the discounts. The others can f*ck off.

I can respect that. I have had the IPUC since it was released at full price and I only bought the Barrage because it was on sale.

^^Good to know the Phantom is also super powerful as that's the one I selected :) I look forward to crewing up and slapping around griefing broombois after the 2x bunker grindfest

You can also join the fun world of playing CEO Haulage. Just detach your trailer and connect your MOC Cab to the Haulage trailer and laugh your head off as all the sh*t stains in the lobby flood to you but are left flaccid when they cant destroy you.

The Haulage trailer cannot be destroyed and the MOC just soaks up damage. The majority of attacks will come from behind but the Haulage trailer is invincible so have fun.

I'm now double excited for blowing all that money that I can do fun things with the cab as well -- most excellent news

Yea, it's a really fun bit of kit.

I still enjoy running Haulage and seeing the idiots in the Lobby jumping in their Hydras, get frustrated and then crashing.

Another big difference is that you can throw sticky bombs and proximity mines out of the Phantom, but not the Hauler.

I think the Mobile Operations missions are pretty fun and sometimes join random invites. When I hosted them I played them with friends though. It's probably pretty frustrating to wait for randoms to join only to then f*ck up the simplest tasks.

The Insurgent Pickup Custom is the best vehicle of the gunrunning DLC imo, its the best combination of speed, armor, weaponry & battering ram, possibly still the best weaponized vehicle in the game despite the broomstick existing, if you ever do any freemode work with other players in your org/mc, you NEED this vehicle, makes everything so much easier. Its virtually indestructible, stops for nothing, npcs and noob players struggle to hit you because you sit much higher then usual, has mines, 50 cal & a range of armored window options, works just as well in the middle of nowhere on the side of a mountain as it does in small streets & alleyways in the city or on the highway. I cannot stress enough how much of an valuable asset this car is.

The flat front cab for the MOC has the burnout speed glitch thing btw (make sure to disconnect the trailer before trying)

Dune FAV is the best Gunrunning vehicle IMO because it's the only way to use the Up-n-Atomizer while driving. 😉

Thats just gonna get fixed at some point tho, the Insurgent Pickup Custom is meant to be this versatile/doesn't rely on any bugs/glitches/tricks :D
