Which GTA Game do you think has the most beautiful timecyc ever?

3D era: I like the timecyc in original Vice City the most, GTA III is a close second with its amazing gloomy atmosphere. VCS looks pretty as well but it's way too dark at 19:00.
HD era: There is something about the muted autumnal colors in GTA IV that I love, its heavy atmosphere works better for me than that of GTA V.

I like VCS the most, really fits with the gameplay and atmosphere. (and story, kind of)

VC has to be the best one, in my opinion. Such an epic feeling seeing the sunset from the beaches and the sea shining and all of that...

God, it makes me want to play it all over again  We better go back to Vice City soon, do you hear me Rockstar?

VCS was nice too, but it felt a little too blurry to my taste.

From the HD era, V is my favorite.

GTA III, VC and SA. On Playstation 2. Hands down.

Dark and foggy atmosphere of LC or almost inexplicably colorful VC..  but nothing beats beautiful turquoise shades of sky in LS, or pinkish desert skies of Bone County.

My kneejerk reaction is to say V but also i haven't played IV since i started appreciating stuff like how moody it is on purpose

Yeap, that AND listening to K-DST while riding my Freeway through those desert roads...

That's probably the most iconic setting of the whole map of GTA SA, to me.

GTA V does have a desert area, but I think Rockstar kind of failed to replicate that feeling. It looks good, but not as epic as it was in GTA SA.

I think it also has to do with the map design, too many mountains and a too small Grand Senora Desert. The cool looking canyons are not there. (Also SA's shorter draw distance helps.)

San Andreas' timecyc shines in how every area feels different. GTA V looks nice, especially those sunsets and lightnings, but on the other hand kinda plain IMO.

While we are at the timecyc and various weather effects it provides, I am simply in love with the draw distance fog of SA. I know it might sound counter-intuitive, since we are literally seeing less, but on the other hand not only does that create certain feeling of having a larger map, but aesthetically, it sort of gives greater artistic importance and visual meaning, if I can put it that way.

I don't know but making comparison to a newer and modern games, no amount of cramped up technology of the most advanced visual features, no amount of graphical horse power beneath the hood, still haven't managed to impress me like those older games, eg. III, VC and SA and I'm talking about the system that is almost 20 years old - Playstation 2. Don't quote me on this one, but PS2 version of SA uses " Radiosity " which is some kind of lighting technique that is even more precise than Ray-Tracing, so I've heard.

Here's a few screens from my modded PC version of SA with SkyGFX mod (thank you @The Hero) - which brings 100% authentic PS2 atmosphere, with few perks that come along with PC - MS/KB.

I'm using SkyGFX too, and I love it. Playing SA on PC looks so much better with this mod, it gives a lot more depth and life to the game... the default timecyc of the PC version just feels crappy, like they made it in a rush or something. Especially the whole lightning and reflections thing, even the vehicles look so "square".

Same thing with the timecyc of the PC version of Vice City. There's no possible comparison between the PC timecyc and the PS2 timecyc of VC.

Have you guys ever tried to fly/land a plane in GTA V with fog?

The fog in this game is some serious sh*t, especially during those early morning hours... like the San Fierro fog, if not worse.

I still haven't played a whole lot of V, but from what I've experienced (from my PS3 version) it is quite rare to catch foggy weather, but when it comes you're sure to have some visibility issues, especially if you're flying a plane.

Probably Rockstar intended it to be some sort of mix between fog and smog, don't really know if you guys find it realistic or just exaggerated as I've never seen what real smog looks like... but I do know that Los Angeles is kinda famous for having some serious smog, right?

Also I remember Rockstar making quite a few references about smog in GTA SA's Los Santos.

Easily my favorite mod by far. Exactly, I could waste hours in either of those games, watching weather patterns changing. Honestly, something I would not think of doing in any other game. Yeah, you got that right, there's definitely difference between how cars look on various platforms and reflection that PS2 offers is the desired effect that not only perfectly fits in, but indeed it make cars look way better.

Don't have anything against smog, fog and any other similar kind of effects, quite the contrary, they are pretty artsy, but thinking about V in visual sense, I know that game is beautiful looking, no doubt, but I just can't feel that. If that makes any sense.

It's a toss up between IV and V for me. I love the fog in GTA IV but I also love the sunsets in GTA V.

Yeah, I don't have anything against it too... I'm just saying that it is VERY hard to see anything with those weather conditions, especially if you're maneuvering a plane during dawn/dusk.

If you don't slow down your speed, chances are that you're going to crash against some building or mountain in a blink of an eye... or even sinking the plane into the ocean as you're forced to fly closer to the ground to actually see the obstacles ahead.

For 3D era, I'd say the PS2 version of GTA San Andreas has the best timecycle with GTA III being a runner-up due to its realistic feeling. In the HD universe, I think GTA IV may have the best timecycle, although I wish there was an option to disable that "yellow-brown-grey-ish" filter without any mods. I'd also like to mention GTA V with NaturalVision Remastered, but hey! It's a mod, not a vanilla timecyc done by R*.

My money's on VCS because, well... It's obvious! What about you?

Well you're gonna lose all that money because I personally prefer GTAIII peasoup or GTAIV when it's not sunny.

In terms of just the sky on a clear day, regular Vice City.

I don't get San Andreas. It looks very saturated.

GTA SA. Through the most part it is just okay, but some moments are worth mentioning:

- Sunrise underneath the Oram bridge

- Sunrise over the Sherman reservoir

- Purple sunset over the desert

- Red storm in the B'o'B accompanied by a torrential rain

- Heat waves rising from the pavement and roads in LS

These are the most magnificent scenes in the history of game making. Even on PC they look captivating, but PS2 picture is a pure beauty.

Nothing in VC struck me as outstanding to be honest. GTA 3 is extremely realistic, but I wouldn't necessary call it beautiful. Haven't played VCS enough to make a judgement. LCS and GTA 5 are just meh - there is sky, there is rain, but it's a little bit below average. GTA 4 is like a sewer burst and covered everything in crap - unless it's a rainy evening about 10pm-4am - then it is beautiful.

The timecyc in San Andreas looks kinda pretty on the PS2, but on the PC version it looks ugly. Lol.

Love China, by the way.

I really like the purple skies of the desert and Las Venturas too, it meshes well with the bright lights of LV especially so I like that area in San Andreas the most

I don't prefer one over another, each game has a different timecyc to match the mood of their universe.

That video best describes what I like about the games made by Rockstar. There's even a part where he talks about the weather
