Are we going to see some humour in this film? I'm not sure. It might look out of place given its serious tone. Other films like Goodfellas are really good at putting chilling serious themes along side humour and banter. And the humour never undermines the serious nature. I enjoyed Breaking Bad and I'll give this film a watch. I'm only going by the trailer, so I could be completely off the mark. I think it's important not to go in expecting it to be Breaking Bad. That's a problem a lot of people are going to make. It's the same as not going in to Better Call Saul thinking that. I went in to that show thinking of BB, but it was a lot more slower and not as much action. This looks to be more of a melodrama like you said, it'll be a huge focus on Jesse as a character and obviously after everything that has happened to him, he won't be the Jesse we know/remember IMO. I'm surprised the guy hasn't lost his sanity yet with all the sh*t he's gone through.

And I did enjoy it, granted, I only watched the first season. I've thought about what I wrote earlier and I think a lot of it comes down to Aaron Paul. His acting has been divisive. Most people will say his performances are excellent and I don't think he's bad, just not great. I don't know what it is. I don't any ideas about how the Pinkman should be played but it never sat well with me through BB. I don't think it's the writing or the show, it's just me. I'll defo try keep an open mind about this but cautiously. Lonely-Martin 1 𝙼𝚄𝚂𝙸𝙲 𝙽𝙾𝙽 𝚂𝚃𝙾𝙿

We did see moments of him being by himself during the show, but you always had Walt shadowing over him. We've never actually seen him independent. Walt was always controlling him in some way. I don't know, I think it'll be interesting. Just probably not as fast paced as Breaking Bad got in the later seasons. I don't think there will be any comedy really if I'm being honest. I'm not sure it fits with Jesse's progression as a character. In the earlier seasons, Jesse was a different person and Walt and Jesse's partnership was still fresh. The times where they were on good-ish terms produced some of the funniest moments and that got all washed away later on.

Pepperjack
Without getting into spoilers, I felt this was a good send off for Jesse as a character. Had great cinematography as well. Good action and a fitting end for the character. The only gripe is how fat todd got, lol. My headcanon is that in the span of the six months that jesse was held captive, Todd gained weight then lost it all before Walt showed up. That's the only explanation. Guest Billy Russo
Let me just say first off that I got literal goosebumps as soon as it started. Even though I've been hyped for weeks, the actual realisation that I'm watching Breaking Bad again in some form gave me chills. SPOILERS BELOW Spoiler - I loved they still managed to fit humour in even after everything that's went down and what Jesse went through. I wasn't expecting any at all. Skinny Pete and Badger are still exactly as you remember them, and even Jesse had moments where he wasn't super serious all the time. Almost like the Jesse you remember. There's cracks of his old self that shine through. - The scenes with Todd and Jesse were great. I loved they delved a bit deeper in to that. Todd was always a particularly interesting character because of the way his personality shifts and just his character in general. He's got so many sides to him. The way he can be so calm and collected in f*cked up situations. It's hard to watch Jesse in those scenes, he hasn't even got enough will in himself to fight back anymore. There's nothing left for him to fight for anymore. He feels that helpless in those moments. The character development is fantastic. There's many moments where he could have easily killed Todd, but he didn't. It's great to see all the build-up before the moment Walt comes in Felina, and you see Jesse just finally unleash on Todd. - I used to hate Jesse's parents on my original watch, but it's actually easier to see it from their perspective now IMO. It's easier to side with Jesse as a viewer because we've seen everything he's gone through, but you can also understand where his parents come from. - That scene where Jesse is running back and forth helplessly in the lab was hard to watch. Makes you really realize the sh*t he went through. - It's awesome to see Jesse get even more badass now. It's almost like he's not as afraid of dying anymore, he's been through the worst somebody can and he's got some serious balls now. That shootout was awesome. There weren't a lot of action scenes, as I expected, but that was worth waiting for. Although I laughed at the end when the guy went "Dude you're on fire" it came out of nowhere. Love the little moments of humour. - I basically screamed with the joy at the flashback scene when I saw Walt. I just wasn't expecting any, and it was so awesome. Seeing Walt & Jesse again, insane. I think I nearly cried when I saw the RV too. I feel like there's so much to pick apart with that scene. It was so perfect ending with what Breaking Bad is known for, Walt & Jesse together one last time. It was amazing how true to their initial partnership it was at the beginning, just the little details and how they interacted with each other. Speaking of the ending, I thought it was perfect and Jesse starting his next chapter in his life. We don't need to see it or what happens after, it's just nice we know for sure that he made it out of Albuquerque. The flashback with Jane was touching as well. If I had to rate it, I'd give it a 8/10. It stayed true to Breaking Bad, whilst having it's own identity and didn't spoil the story of Breaking Bad in anyway. It only enhanced it I feel. The flashback scenes were all appropriate and added to the film, and gave fans things to talk about and analyse.

Jabalous
it was fun to watch. A nice start for Jesse. From the desert to the snow, what a new life! I guess Better Call Saul season 5 will put a closure to the Breaking Bad universe. Non Funkable Token
Is this The Guy?
Wow I had a completely different viewing experience from everyone else. Breaking Bad is my second favorite series of all time so it saddened me that I couldn’t get through the entire movie. The Todd and Jesse flashbacks were terrible lol. I don’t know if it gets better later in the movie but I turned it after the first hour. Maybe I’ll try to finish it again later? I want to give it another chance sure because I loved the series so much. Edited October 12, 2019 by Is this The Guy?
Craigsters
It was a good watch, and what I expected!.. I thought the money would be in the pool floor where the El Camino cap top was at, hence the film's name "You don't understand! I could've had class. I could've been a contender. I could've been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am." On the Waterfront 1954 M.Brando
darthYENIK
I really liked it. A lot of reviews are calling it an epilogue, and I feel that is a good way to describe it. It isn’t necessary but it’s a good fit to show what happened to Jesse, a question we all were asking after the finale. They crammed so many small references and call backs into it. Of course I loved the flashback with Walter and Jesse in the hotel and diner. Jesse pouring ice into his bath and then tipping the bus boy $50 to keep the pitcher of water. This alludes to the episode in the second season “4 Days Out” when Walter and Jesse are stuck in the desert when the RV breaks down. AND I even went looking through that episode and Walter and Jesse are wearing the same thing when Jesse drops Walter off at the airport as they are in that diner. As far as I am concerned, I came to the conclusion that this movie made after watching the Breaking Bad finale. There really was no reason to make this movie, except to confirm what we all want to happen to Jesse after everything he’s been through. But it still felt like a welcome continuation, and was satisfying as well.

KarimNTerr
Loved every bit of it! Especially how... ... none of the cameos felt forced, or as a fan service. Laker23
Incredibly satisfying. Spoiler Wasn't surprised how Jesse ended up, and glad to know what I imagined in my head back when the show finished is basically what became of him. I never imagined Vince would kill him, so I didn't feel a sense of tension during the scenes where I was probably supposed to feel that, but I didn't really want that from this movie anyway. I literally wanted an epilogue of sorts, and it's exactly what I got. Todd is a fantastically disgusting character who plays his role perfectly. I can't say I was expecting the majority of flashbacks to feature him, but I really enjoyed them. Everything from the creepy ass snow globe in his bedroom to taking his belt off his dead cleaner and putting it straight on without a second thought, just perfectly showed how disturbed he was. Him asking Jesse if he wanted to say any words as they were burying the cleaner was amazing in such a f*cked up way. Flashback with Walt was fantastic, and Walt's last lines having such a deep meaning made it even better. I'm gonna ignore how awful his bald cap looked walking down the hallway, as it looked a lot better in the diner. Despite this serious tone of the movie I loved how the obvious in your face humour, and the classic BB dark humour was still there in parts. His interaction with the vacuum guy (R.I.P.) when he was calling the police was brilliant. Personally super glad they didn't show Skyler, Walt Jr and others. I prefer to imagine what's going on with them in the aftermath, so I'm glad they weren't shoehorned into the movie to wrap absolutely everything up. Same thing with the hidden money, I'm happy that mystery is still out there and is up to the viewer to interpret where it might be. Bring on Better Call Saul now. Expecting nothing but big things in the final couple of seasons. Jabalous
