GTA V Crashes with error code 0xc0000005!! HELP!

Nah, I crashed yesterday after about hour with 436.48 and another R* random advice to disable MSAA and FXAA.

So... anyone has success to tell support that instead of running random advises they should ask developers to debug their game?

Yep... with NVIVIA Driver 436.48 and after 3 minutes gameplay:

Name der fehlerhaften Anwendung: GTA5.exe, Version: 1.0.1737.6
Name des fehlerhaften Moduls: GTA5.exe, Version: 1.0.1737.6
Ausnahmecode: 0xc0000005
Fehleroffset: 0x0000000000d0d5d9

So nothing changed.  Haven't heard from R* Support since 4 days now...are they running out of ideas?

tested the version 436.48 with my graphics card RTX 2060 that also cuts the problem is not always solved

So I come back to my version 431.86. The series 436 is cursed.voila if it can help!

If you want to be quiet once and for all to install the driver 431.86.No recorded cuts.

I have the same problem, sometimes it happens after 10 minutes, sometimes after half an hour to an hour.

It's really annoying, however it can't be my computer. Only GTA V / Online crashes with the error 0x0000005.

All my other games and applications run great and never crash....

I even checked the drive GTA is installed on for errors, checked my Windows install, but nothing seems to indicate that there is anything wrong with my setup.

So it does seem to have something to do with the game, oh well let's wait for a patch then and hope for the best.

Anyone using Nvidia hardware and running driver version 436.30 needs to downgrade drivers if they experience this issue.

436.30 completely ruined the game for me, crashing every session, sometimes after 2 minutes, sometimes after 30, no way to tell what was causing them as it was completely random. It was so bad that it got me thinking that my RAM or video card were going defective. I verified the game files on Steam, tested the memory for errors - everything came out just fine, as expected.

Then I started suspecting the video driver or the latest windows 10 update ( build 18362.356) for this problem. I uninstalled the 436.30 drivers and went back to 431.86 (which is labeled studio driver but really doesnt matter) because the 431.xx branch is the last fully stable one. 436.15 would probably work too bc I don't remember GTA crashing that much with those, and maybe some people need the 436.xx features like the sharpen filter, integer scaling or ultra low-latency mode.

Anyway, with 431.86 my game is back to normal - other than due to cheaters, no more crashes.

DDU'd back to 431.86. Still crashing. Goddammit!

I have been having this same problem, and I have tried all of the "solutions" that I could find. What worked for me, maybe, was deleting the Redistributables folder in the game install directory, then run the launcher in Administrator mode. The launcher re-downloads the 189 MB installers, and installs them. Last night I was able to play for 4 hours and then today, 3 hours. The first time I got on this morning, crash after 23 minutes, the 2nd time was for 15 minutes. Then I deleted the folder, and then I got 3 hours of play time. I did not crash last night or today, the two times. I ended the session myself.  First time in a VERY long time. Maybe this would work for someone else.

Nope... not working for me.

Although downgrading Nvidia to 430.86 seems to work for me.

EDIT: UPDATE I’ve been playing for a week, no crash at all. Seems like downgrading it to 430.86 fixed it for me.

Game crashed after 25 minutes of gameplay with nvidia driver 430.86 installed  (uninstalled with DDU, then installed )

R* support (now in GERMAN....) AGAIN wants dxdiag, msinfo32 and launcher log file.

Maybe the german speaking r* support employees are better...  (Julia F.   Tier 3)

Still have hope.

No they don't. I correspond with them since August. 7 replies from Support from 6 different employees. I think its just a Callcenter and working only with a FAQ from the Rockstar Support. I am somehow sorry for them, realy. I think they don't have any connection to the development team. Just useless questions, suggestions and everytime they want some dxdiag, msinfo, launcher logs etc.  An employee wanted to send my details and information about the development team. But I'm not sure about it.

By the way, my crashes are still there and I tried everything I can read here in the forum & Internet. Sometimes the games works for 3h, sometimes 2h, sometimes just 1h and on the next day 15min, not more. But exact this time. I could set the clock afterwards.

We would like to inform you to please remove the Samsung NVMe Controller attached to your PC.

Yet another brilliant idea...

Okaaaaaaay.

I tried a ton of different suggested nVidia drivers to no avail. However, I just acquired a new mobo and CPU off a mate and switched it over without uninstalling/reinstalling Windows or nVidia drivers and now GTA works just fine without crashes. Something Rockstar did with the Casino update is definitely disagreeing with some motherboards.

Old setup was Asus Maximum VI Hero with i7 4770k

New setup is Asus Prime z270-a with i7 7700k

Has anyone tried the recommended manipulation by the link below to solve our problem.

Hello,

Hope my school-french isn't so bad, the hint says (i think):

install NVIDIA Driver Version 436.48, then execute  C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Ansel\NVCameraConfiguration.exe   and disable the Ansel-Status in the menu.

(never heard of that before).

That should POSSIBLY solve "random crashes of GTA5 after daily mission".

I gave it a try, but unfortunately the game crashed again after about 15 minutes of gameplay - same error as before.

I have 24 GB memory.

Guys, how much memory do you have?
I have a think that if it caused due to memory leak - it could be that we all have more that 16gb of memory so game can grows as far as it wants and sometimes when it grows it hit some internal limit or some buffer overflowing and trying to access invalid memory address...

Hmmm. My old board had 32Gb (Crashes). My new one (for now) has 16Gb (No crashes).

Fact is that I have laptop and I didn't saw crashes on it, but I played a little so don't sure about it. For example, I tried old drivers on pc and game last longer - but still crashed after 6 hours.

But the funny thing is that it has only 8gb of memory, so the game starts growing from 2.5gb to 3.2-3.5gb and after hitting 98% used memory - part of used memory drops back to 2.5gb and starts growing again and cycle repeats.

Maybe if you have "unlimited" memory - some buffer overflowing and we get access violation error.

Right now I created ramdisk on my pc to limit gta5 process memory consumption and right now it consume 400mb (security cam afk staying). I want to check if it will crash today or not. If not - that will be really funny.

In default conditions game crashes in 15mins-2 hours even in afk sec cams mode (doing nothing in solo session).

I had 64GB. During the crashing session in August with GTA 5, I checked all of my RAM modules via "mdsched". It turned out, that 1 module was damaged. But I had no issues with OS, other Software or Games, no crashes. So at the moment I have 48GB. But I can't remember, that my RAM was full via Taskmanager. But I will have a look again.

Before the Casino Update I had also 64GB, without any issues with GTA5 of course.

Are there any users with AMD-Graphics card installed having the same problem?

Or does it only crash with NVIDIA graphics cards?  (Although i still don't believe that the problem is related to a driver)

I've got NVIDIA and the game still crashed today (with nvidia 436.48)

R* support now asked me to turn off "fullscreen optimization"  in the "compatibility" properties of GTA5.exe and then give it a try with Directx 11 or 10.

Doesn't make any difference, game still crashes (with nvidia 436.48).

Yeah, I gave it a try too, for testing with Dx10.1 with new and old driver the last 3 days. But it's still crashing. It's a game issues!

  1. Hello everyone,

The update 436.48 worked for me as I already said above. But since I updated Windows 10 1903 (KB 4517389) the cut is repeated again. So I went back to version 431.86.
