Rockstar Support:

I know this is frustrating and that would frustrate me too. In order to resolve the issue, you are facing I would suggest you that please some below workaround steps as they have worked for many other players     (WHAT ???)

  • Delete settings.xml from the social club folder from the location C://User/Documents/Rockstar and reset the graphics setting in the game.
  • Launch GTAV go to the setting and in the Graphics tab check if all the setting is high, turn off the second option i.e; Reflection MSAA, Ambient Occlusion to normal and Tessellation Off.
  • In Advance Graphics change the Extended Distance scaling accordingly and check the game again. If the issue persists restore the graphics settings to defaults.

As always, if you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

My answer:

Yes, it is really frustrating, but the VERY MOST frustrating thing is that Rockstar Support does NOT accept the fact that the problem is in the game.

In GTAFORUMS.COM there are at least 25 users with EXACTLY the same problem, do you really think all these users have some problem with their PC, hardware, software? No, it's the GAME !!

Besides that, i deleted the xml file, did the settings as you asked me for and guess what... same game crash after 7 minutes of gameplay.

As always, please get your programmers to work on the problem instead of creating another needless game launcher (which also does not solve the problem).

Reducing settings. Yeah, I can imagine that reducing the graphics quality would worked out in the past for some users who would insist to max out graphics while playing on a potatoe, but I did play with very high/ultra settings since 2015, and still can in offline mode, with 60 fps most off the time. Exception are a few spots in the city during dusk and dawn (advanced settings off except streaming during flights). Nope, reducing settings to default in order to 'fix' the issue is a no go.

However, I did link the steam mega topic (1.200+ replies since august) as a reference in my latest reply. A few posts do regard the seperated issue with the latest Nvidia Driver, which is unrelated to the Casino issue:

Guys, if we want a solution for this issue, we should all open tickets for this - which i just did (again).

Rockstar support answered quickly, they need the following files:

- saved output from the dxdiag command

- saved output of msinfo32 command

- the launcher log file residing in Documents\Rockstar Games\GTAV

and an error description, i supplied a picture of the windows 10 event log

all preferably in english language.

So please open tickets!

Rockstar does NOT answer tickets quickly.  I have had a ticket for this issue for over a week with no reply from support ;_;

Think we all have open tickets, mine is open since september 7.

I sent those files at least 6 times already, they will keep asking you for other stupid and needless things...hundreds of users have this issue.

But keep on going, i'll do as well !

Just play and wait for the next crash, it will come.  (I hope for you that the crash won't happen again, but a lot of people tried a lot of things on a lot of PCs - and the crash came back)

Guys, i'm so desperate! Let's start from the begining:

I used a VPN to be able to get chips in order to buy the casino store itens, since i'm one from those banned countries. But guess what?! Now everyone apparently can purchase them! I got into trouble for nothing! So...i used ProtonVPN. I had a trial premium version for a couple of days, after that the VPN would automatically go for the standard free version. Seems like only toke 1 or 2 days of using the free standard version for my game get f*cked up! Here is what happened:

I launched the game using the VPN, while in the main menu of the game, during the loading time to join GTA Online, the game crashed like 20 seconds after being in the loading. Then i turned off the VPN but the problem persisted. Sometimes i was able to get in the Single Player for 3 seconds or so before crash. The crash would lead the game to automatically exit and then i would receive a Social Club notification saying that "GTA closed unexpectadly, blablabla", not saying the exactly reason why. Then, i did all the imaginable, i uninstalled the VPN, i checked my drivers to see if they were up to date, i installed the most recent Windows software version, and i was now able to play for 10 minutes (oddly enough, lol), but i would crashed again in the end. Then, i searched for solutions in the internet, i got one solution that was to go to the Documents folder of the game, go to Profiles, open folder "DC(and some numbers there)" and delete the files "cfg.dat" and "pc_settings_bin", but none of that worked, i would crash after those 10-ish minutes of game. I even let one friend and one cousin of mine that i trusted, to play the game with my account, and seems like they did it with no problem (one just made the login to see if my account was ok, the other played like 30 minutes and didn't noticed any problem).

After that i saw the only solution was to format the pc! I did that yesterday, my hard drive was completely cleaned up, my pc was "new like a baby" again. But the problem wasn't solved that  well, bcz i usually would crash at the first try of login into online, but at the 2nd attempt i would stay in the game for like 2 hours which was the time record (and then i crashed again!).

Today, for coincidence or not, seems like the servers were down for a little bit and when i tried to play the game i got the same problem of before...10-ish minutes of being able to play the game, then the crash.

[UPDATE IN THE SITUATION]: Today i tried to play GTA without internet, so i could just go to the Single Player! But i stay there for 3 hours without a problem! Then, i turned again the internet connection and the crashes after 5-10 minutes came too.

Here is what was the report of the launcher log:

P.S.: PLZ SOMEONE HELP ME! IN THE ULTIMATE OPTION I NEED TO CONTACT ROCKSTAR, BUT...i'm affraid that i will be banned for used a VPN (which i most need to tell them in order to get help...or a ban...).

I am having a problem, it is pretty strange, every time i interact with an NPC, killing, stand close to start a dialogue, trying to run over an npc with a car, the game crash and in the log i get the error 0xc0000005.
The game runs fine, i can do anything in the game, but interact with a NPC, even tried starting from zero, and in the first mission, when you kick the cop the game crash, if you kill the woman on the ground the game crash too, pretty strange right ?
R* just tell me to do a clean reinstall even after i did that 2 times already, tried to do anything they asked, and the game still crash, i'm using the 425.31 NVIDIA Driver, so isn't that too, can someone help me ?

Sounds like the same problem hundreds of other users have too.

I did multiple clean installs, Rockstar now has at least six versions of my msinfo32 output, my dxdiag output, windows event logs, just name it.  They will keep you busy with useless and needless things.

Can you check your windows eventlog for the offset of the error?

Yeah, getting really annoying. They even had me disable services that actually made the game not boot anymore. They MUST have figured out by now that it's a wider spread problem. I'm just not yet entirely convinced it's only a GTA problem, might be some complex windows/nvidia/gta combination

Rockstar support wrote again:

- Remove the overclocking application (_CPUID_)

- Disable Bitdefender Security

- Disabling Steam Overlay

My answer:

1. CPU-Z from CPUID is NOT an overclocking utility, it is a freeware that gathers information on some of the main devices of your system.

No need to remove - and you know it (at least you should know it)

2. I will NOT again remove bitdefender Security. See my update from september 7 in this ticket. I completely removed Bitdefender from my system, rebooted, started game and the GAME CRASH reoccurred.

Read before talking.

3. Steam Overlay is NOT on, WAS NOT ON and WILL NOT BE ON for GTA5

Look before talking.

Any other "useful" suggestions? I have one for you: stop bullsh*tting and repair the game. Fullstop.

I do think it's the game.  Hundreds of people can't have the same problem.

Besides that, the game version was updated on sunday to version 1.0.1737.6  - and the offset of the error in gta5.exe changed as well.

good evening guys,

In addition to the problem described here I also had the problem that two PRODUCTS OF THE NIGHT CLUB did not grow still remained in ZERO.

In fact I was in contact with the ROCKSTAR ITALIA SUPPORT to solve both the Night Club problem and the sudden crashes that occurred after. In fact, I blamed the new Rockstar Games Launcher.

I  format the problem I formatted everything bought Win 10 Original and removed any antivirus, for fear that this was the problem. And I also updated the Bios of both the Asus z390 and Rtx 2070 cards thinking that that was the problem.

So I updated the Bios which is something I don't usually do because it can be dangerous, actually the launcher of the rockstar games coincides with the new Nvidea 436.30 drivers and I NEVER HAD THOUGHT that these could cause problems.

A week that I open the doors 6772 641555 bla bla bla , I call fastweb granting doors open to the windows firewall

.

Tonight I try and let you know But if it works, at least we have solved the problem of the crash.

For products of the Night club we will see

At the moment THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

GTA Online keeps crashing. Today exact after 1hr ingame. 😫

Support told me, from my msinfo32 they know, I have the newest Nvidia driver. But thats not true, I have a very old version from November 2018 416.81 😩 But...they told me too, they know about the issues with the newest Nvidia driver and GTA 5. Finally something!!!

They told me too, to deinstall my Antivir Avira. I'm safe from Windows Defender 😋 They said, Antivir (Avira) doesn't work with GTA5. Thats bullsh*t, it's fine. My GTA5 and all other software runs with Avira without any issues, since I have Internet! 1999/2000 😁

And the told me, to set the OS language to English US, maybe gamesettings from GTA5 too. WTF? No? 😂

Hope it works for you, but don't be too happy when the game runs fine for 2 hours.  I had cases (after some weird actions advised by R* support) where the game ran 7 hours, then next day first crash after 10 minutes gameplay.  Keep playing!

WTF? No? 😂

US English?   Next will be UK english because i think R* UK is responsible for GTA5.

They asked me to do that as well because they were not able to read/interprete my german files i sent them (msinfo, dxdiag etc).  Never heard such bullsh*t before.

OK, once again a useful suggestion from Rockstar support:

Thank you for your reply.
We are sorry to know that you are still facing the issue with crashing and we appreciate your continuous patience.
Please install the launcher location in the default location. While installing Rockstar Games Launcher, please select "Choose install location" as default. Do not select any other folder locations.
If the default location was already chosen while installation, and if the issue persists, we can try to uninstall and re-install the launcher to the default location.
Do let us know if you have any other issues or queries. We are happy to assist you.

I can't believe this...this is ignorance par excellence.

Thanks to all the morons that are suggesting to roll back the driver, as it helped them, now the support seems to concentrate on that, too.

Genius, pure genius at work. The crashing due to the casino update / horse race glitch fix exist s from two months ago, the problematic nvidia driver was released two weeks ago. Two seperated issues.

Completely ignoring the fact that the game runs excellent in offline mode for the people that are crashing due to the casino update issue.

Two keep support happy, I reinstalled the launcher. Guess what? It crashed after 20 minutes.

New observation:

1. Playing in fullscreen mode: crash in 15-30mins

2. Playing in windowed mode: crash in 90mins

It must be some kind of memory leak.

And to add: I have crashes on my PC, but not on my obsolete notebook, playing with the same accounts.

Rockstar "support" :

Please ensure that there are no external devices and non-essential USB devices connected to your system. If it is connected, please disconnect all the peripherals apart from key board and mouse. Also, please rollback your graphic driver and uninstall the DirectX then update the latest graphic driver and DirectX.

My Answer:

WTF???

You keep me busy doing things i have already done MULTIPLE TIMES - which you can READ in my previous updates and in a LOT of other tickets from other users as well.

Rockstar support has become the laughing stock in all forums, and it's getting even worse.

About reinstalling directx:  You might know by now that DIRECTx is an integral part of windows 10 and that there is NO OFFICIAL WAY to uninstall and reinstall directx.

Fix the problem instead of spending useless time for useless launchers!

Any other useful (!!!!) suggestion TO FIX the problem?

My useful suggestion: get your programmers to work.

This is getting really rediculous now.

There seems to be a problem along with the crashes in Single Player when buying a can of soda from any random vending machine as some users here pointed out. An error would pop up saying that Rockstar can not progress this transaction.

Many people are having this problem and yet Rockstar told me they can not reproduce this issue. Weird.
