Now that we have Defensive mode, should the proximity blips go back to how they were at launch?

Now that we have Defensive mode, should the proximity blip system go back to how it was at launch, and let us see where everyone in lobby is when we pull out our map?

my opinion is no. I prefer it the way it is now. it's the method that best suits the way it would have been way back then when there was really no way of knowing who was where until they were either within earshot or direct view. it's all about traversing the frontier alone for me, and coming across other players by chance.

if you want to play with others, there are already options for that.

No, absolutely not. Proximity blips have been a good addition to the game.

Fully agree with @Surebrec.

No, no, and no again. It would just open the doors for griefing despite defensive mode being an option and there would be really no way to get away from toxic players aside from switching lobbies.

The blip system change was one of the best things they ever did; it's a shame that it wasn't implemented in GTAO as well.

That's what I've been thinking too. At least be able to see others from further away. I don't like the way the map feels completely empty most of the time. It usually doesn't feel like an online game.

That's pretty much been my only gripe with it as well, while I like the desolate MMORPG feel you get with proximity blips, sometimes it just gets too boring and lonely feeling. Especially with the way Online is right now with the lack of free roam content. (At least until the summer update, we'll see) Adding defensive mode on top of that you just feel like a lost wandering ghost most of the time you do actually encounter other players.

The friends I play with have got so bored with the free roam missions that we purposely take the wagon or money bags into a town and try to get others to attack. Even when we do that almost nobody does. Taking things from here to there is only fun when there's some kind of challenge to it. We don't care if the missions fails as long as some others come and play and make it fun. I think rockstar have gone too far in keeping everyone separate. If I wanted to be isolated from everyone else then I would play story mode. I sometimes wish I could be transported back to the first few weeks of red dead. That would be a lot of fun I think.

No, no, no. There was a reason why player blips were changed, even before defensive mode kicked in. Player blips on the map 'always on' will only be a point to point route for griefers to follow.

Bad idea.

You mean different lobbies or a personal option? If it's a player option then anyone can change the option to see all blips and so I can't see how that lets people hide?

Hell no!

One feature added that truly makes this feel more like the old west than it did at launch.

Plenty of ways to find folk. Showdowns, towns and cities, known spots where the freemode jobs are launched etc. Go find people like I imagine they had to back then before GPS. 🤣

(Although plenty here throws realistic out the window too of course, but I want the one positive change They made to stay as it feels right).

No; goodness no..! (Although I do understand the feeling of "But there's no-one here!" when looking at the full map.)

It's now more realistic, which (IMO) not only adds some mystery and spontaneity--but most importantly--lets players dodge griefers by simply moving out of their "range".

To some extent, it also gives players the freedom to go anywhere they want, without having to worry about being 'spied' on (and targeted) by a griefer clear across the map.

This was a very good move by R*; glad they listened and followed through.

More listening and following through is key.

Still complaining about griefers? LOL. The only reason I'd like to see them back, is so I don't waste my fkn time going to wherever and find a someone already there. Then again, when they put stupid sh*t like Roosters and Beavers as a challenge, I guess you should expect ti.

RDO used to feel like the end of the first game for me:

maxresdefault.jpg

Used to have some awful days in there, the high rank posses were rampant and they abused that parley workaround to no end, kept getting killed in my camp, hopping from server to server didnt helped matters and the game felt even more empty in comparison to now.

Thank god those days are behind now.

Whatever area you drop into when you enter the game is where a majority of the players are. Hang around there. You'll meet plenty of them. Roam out of the area, the fewer you will see.

This would only work for that user. Other users could still see your blip.

As long as players in defensive can be killed the blips should remain as they are. If all PvP combat is turned off during defensive i will endorse reverting back to the way it was.

Only if you leave a free roam event. Even then you don't usually spawn in with others. And you load in at the location where you left the game. So unless everyone leaves the game in the same area I don't see how that can be true.

shouldn't even be an option. the majority of us that seem to want it this way would be disadvantaged by not seeing potential griefers when they are just outside of range

Blips need completely removing from all modes except for posse members in freeroam and team members in PvP modes.

No ifs or buts, they ruin PvP and they serve no purpose in PvE when you're not grouped up.

I like it when I just happen across someone, it feels more authentic.

No blips please.

Also when there was blips, some tool rode halfway across the map to where I was alone just to harass and grief by trying to kill me or ruining my animal pelts.

The server that brings you into the game is the server being used by others that came on in that area, whether you chose an area to join into or your joining from the general free roam using the area which uses the area you logged off from. It makes no difference where others left the game, only where they joined it.

You can go to almost any town and there are people there shooting the place up or go to an area where people need to go to do a daily challenge. You'll find plenty around there.

Hell no, if you want to make friends just wait in a small town like Valentine or Strawberry. Proximity dots are the best thing to happen, and GTA VI's Online best have that at launch. Death to tryhards lzzzzzzzzzz

Maybe I've just been very unlucky but whenever I've visited a town lately it's been very quiet. Even Saint Denis doesn't see much action any more. I presumed that anyone interested in PvP left the game out of boredom and went back to GTA.
