Grand Theft Auto IV: Renderware Edition

I got another idea, revamping the whole economy system would fit this mod as money in IV is not devalued like in III.

I have a custom SCM featuring that revamp. It includes balanced mission, stunt, rampage, and side-mission rewards.

Things like wasted/busted or the cost of weapons are hardcoded, so we can't change them that easily, but it seems most weapons in III have a similar price to their LCS counterparts, and LCS has a money system similar to VC, so not really a problem.

 

About the sounds, I have my personal ones, all (or most) sounds related to vehicles and weapons have been replaced.

I could provide them if you really suck at sound modding :)

That would be great idea. If you could send me this SCM, I would be grateful. About the sound, me and Sasuu want to replace most sounds, but if I won't handle this, I will surely message you.

Thanks for your opinion! Words like that really motivate me. You don't need GTA IV to install this mod, only GTA III.

I've been trying to make timecyc similar to GTA IV where color are dark and colorfilrer is a little orange gray. Do you guys think it's fine? :)

I'm trying to refresh GTA III peds to make them fit into the project atmosphere. Editing GTA III peds is very hard, but possible. Here I'm posting result of swapping head from GTA IV.

I'm not sure about the timecycle (I also saw it in your streams), it looks pretty good, but it gives the game a totally different atmosphere... It does match GTA IV pretty well.

 

Also, those GTAIV heads look too big for the bodies...

On my streams, everything is actually changing on every stream, because I'm testing things. And about the heads, I think scaling them a bit will solve the problem.

Instead of only converting heads why don't you convert whole peds from GTA IV or use them from III Universe Replacement mod. Also how about rigging them with skins and bones.

I started with head to check if it works, making the whole body is a lot harder but I will take a try. And about bones, I have seen the mod that adds boned peds to GTA III and Sasuu tried to convert a ped directly from GTA IV to III but it was impossible. Maybe I will check peds from HD Universe Replacement.

Use Skin and Bones. The Hero also updated his tool to support those models. You should ask ForeverL about this, he converted a few models from LCS.

Change the health and armor bar color to match GTA3's one.

Also can you add colision to vehicles's windshield to make them compatible with Fire_Head's Breakable Windshields mod?

Are we going to code some GTA IV missions when peds, radio stations, vehicles and everything else is finished?

Uh... this is supposed to be a GTA IV style modification, HUD colors will be changed to fit IV's for sure.

Coding missions would be hard for me and Sasuu, we have never tried this before. But if you could help, that would be nice - when everything else will be finished of course. :)

I've never tried coding missions from scratch, so I think we should look for a SCM programmer after we finish everything else.

DimZet once ported IV weapons for III, I can't find them online right now but they're stored on my computer.

A question, do yall plan to make some map changes to make III LC looks more like the IV one? For Example, adding an Bohan-like island, or placing Francis International in Portland?

It looks out of place imo, the world geometry is too low meanwhile the vehicles geometry is too high, it clashes with the atmosphere.

 

Retexturing the low poly models with high definition textures makes them look uglier, it's like printing photographs of buildings and then gluing them to a cardboard box and call it a day.

 

Also, why GTA III of all GTA games? It has the most clunky, basic and outdated gameplay mechanics of all GTAs.

I would have chosen San Andreas, heck even Vice City, for this (there are tons of Liberty City maps for SA), since its has the most modern Renderware engine available for PC and it has better gameplay mechanics than GTA III (bikes, better car handling, planes, gunplay, and much much more).

 

 

Sorry if this sounded mean for you, but that's my view on these kind of mods.

In my opinion, GTA IV: Renderware Edition is something more than "HD Mod". We are trying to bring the whole GTA IV atmosphere to GTA III. And why GTA III? We just want to keep all the missions.

They could add the bins from GTA IV for all it would matter. Traffic lights? They look exactly the same in both games...

Would it be possible to have a GTA SA: Liberty City Beta 7 edition of this mod? I know that mod is abandoned, but it's way better than the original GTA 3 to me.
