Recommended Posts

- Increased presence of aggressive animals at night

- Civil war mod (sort of like ped riot mod in gta v)

- more diseased people in areas of lower class people for realism

- more animal population density

- illnesses and diseases mod

One thing I would like to see, and I might just have to make it myself: a map mod that makes the map more realistic and desolated in terms of a western landscape. In my opinion the RDR2 map, as gorgeous as it is, doesnt feel enough like the old western frontier. There are roads and paths literally everywhere and the map is huge but cramped. Back then you had main trails, but veer off those and you find yourself in plain nature, no paths, no trails, no roads. Just nature as long as the eye can see, and where its easy to get lost. Yes indeed, my first mod project for RDR2 will be making a mod that makes the map feel more wild and realistic, getting rid of most of the roads. Because it honestly feels kind of ridiculous in a western game that you cant even find a wild spot on the map without any path or road going through it, there are literally roads everywhere like a GTA game. The game needs even wilder nature and less of a checkerboard of roads going everywhere.

I shall call the mod: True Western Frontier map mod for RDR2.

I think that was the point - the east of USA was much more 'populated' and urban than the west , known as the "Wild west" . More roads, paths , larger towns and cities . the old western frontier that you mentioned appears in red dead redemption 1 where it took place in the actual undeveloped and empty deserty west close to Mexico. Red Dead redemption 2 takes place in the area that was setteled since the European  immigration of the 18th century , meaning more and more roads .

Spoiler

First I would like to download a fresh epilogue save with 0% completion stats for John (no side missions, trapper gear, or challenges progressed for John).

I also wanna download a mod that restores John to his former RDR1-self. His OG hair, his real OG outfit, maybe a different walking animation too.

I don’t feel like playing through the story again as Arthur, it’s too much of a time sink. I just wanna jump in as John ASAP and mess around/explore. I may not even get the game on PC until these mods (and epilogue save) are available.

Aside from that, QoL mods like faster animations, more immersion like actually being able to starve to death or freeze in the snow, etc...

Sorry for spamming this a 2nd time but I really really hope that someone makes masks and bandannas unbroken (honor gets affected when it shouldnt)  ...Rockstar doesn't care to fix their games after release 😕

That's actually not a bug it's a feature. People can identify you even if your face is covered by what you wear (if you don't change your outfit often)

No...it is broken - what is the purpose of wearing it if your honor goes down? Judging by the Wiki and RDR1 Hides your identity so honor and fame won't change. Remove it to decrease your wanted level faster.”

It is supposed to work the same in this game (minus fame). Where is the "feature" here exactly ?

Maybe you are both kind of right.

To begin with something is definitely off, because the Pinkertons are set to be the only pedmodel that can recognize a player wearing a bandana.

<Item key="Pinkerton"<Flags>IsLaw IsCop CanReportSpottedPlayers IsPinkerton NoticeIgnoresPassivelyWanted CanIdentifyDisguisedCriminals</Flags></Item>

The good news however is that I have located a Condition that can offset everything about how a ped reacts to player putting a bandana on, what the player does while he has it on, and how it will affect the ped Ai memory afterwards.

<Condition type="CInteractionConditionWasAgitatorDisguised"/>

This is just one of almost 600 editable conditions for general Ai behavior, and on top of that we have almost 150 conditions for specific  Ai (Class ) Interaction behavior and much more.

Conclusion, I will be very surprised if we will not be able to fully customize the bandana/honor/recognition systems to perfectly fit our personal preferences.

good finds ! But personally....making a mod  that makes everyone not recognize you while committing murders with the banana   is a "bad game design " - players can abuse it to never get wanted in the game . in my opinion it should act exactly the same as in RDR1 - no affect to honor , and removing it to decrease your wanted level faster ( also hopefully if the fame system returns via a mod it wont get affected as well , I'm crossing my fingers for all these kinds of mods :) )

Personally, I would not like playing through the game knowing I could just hide behind a bandana while I spree-shoot myself way through Saint Denis.

If we are talking about how a potential mod of mine would look, then it would carefully document which files I have edited in order to give the users the needed insight ,

so they can configure the conditions to match their preferred playstyle.

For instance, you could mess around with these supporting conditions to either make masked crime more punishing or the opposite.

CAIConditionApproachingCrimeSceneEvent

CAIConditionCanWitnessCrime

CAIConditionCrimeInvestigating

CAIConditionCrimeSceneContainsInterior

CAIConditionHasConfirmedCrime

CAIConditionHasCrimeAboutCriminal

CAIConditionHasForgivenCrime

CAIConditionIsCrimeSceneFlagSet

CAIConditionIsPedClosestToCrimeSceneBody

CAIConditionNumPiecesOfCrimeSceneEvidence

CAIConditionWantedHasReportedCrimeInQueue

It's not the bandana that's causing you to be identified it's the fact that you are wearing the same clothes you have worn in town when you weren't wearing a bandana. Trust me I've read up on this.

Alright....why is the honor affected then ? It's a bug in the game that Rockstar gave no sh*t to fix , including the honor\bounty system

Wait a second - does the bandanna make a difference If you change your clothes and go back to town with it or without it?

Your honor is effected because in rdr2 you don't need to be identifyed for your honor to be effected. Think about how if your out in the wilderness and you let an animal bleed out with no witnesses you get bad honor. It's like karma it's meant to represent your morals. The bandana is just to stop bounties.

Sounds interesting. Do you have some sort of source on it that info?

Knowing more would make it easier for me to find the file i need in order to override the default system.

so......in rdr1 it was wrong and here it makes sense you say ? Does it stop your bounties if you wear it + new clothes or just new clothes ? If both then it makes perfectly sense and fans that complained about it being broken just didn't think it through

It's just something that's different from the original game.

Yes if you change your clothes frequently, get a haircut and use bandana it will be harder for them to identify you.

I either read about it in the official game manual or a article online I'll see if I can find it again.

A Plant vs. Wildlife, where you could fight wildlife fairly, like in PvZ

Or replace the plants with persons (gang members?) and shoot at the wildlife from fixed positions.

Then, you stand on a plank and make orders of what comes in at each round.

--

or a chess game with wildlife as pawns on both sides, and it would look like HP Sorcerer's Stone scene

can't wait to see a rabbit mauling a bear :D
