I'll admit this is just a pipe dream, since it would likely mean changing the game's code, but I'd love to see a mod that makes mission failure criteria a little less strict. I want to think out of the box and change up my strategies every now and then, but the mission linearity can occasionally get in the way of that.

Another mod I'd personally like to see is one where it forces the game to keep your current core levels when replaying missions (Like, having level 7 stamina for example) as well as your weapons and inventory.
I literally don't like using the Mission Replay feature because it basically neuters you down to everything being level 4, with only basic weapons and 2 opened health tonics at your disposal.

Stop camera sway while in a shootout.

Fix compendium bug allowing all progress bars (plants) to be filled.

LaMat Revolver and Evans Repeater in SP.

Adjusted horse stats that let me give any horse any stats I want. Fear level, Speed.. etc..

I’d love a mod to show gang member locations in camp all the time, not just when they have an item request turn in. I hate having to try and track down what gang members are there or not and searching all over the place for the random ones on guard duty.

For example, nothing like not being able to find Tilly after you rescue her in Valentine from that guy in the alley and then 4 missions later you finally find her and are like hey who was that guy assaulting you?

I can't believe no one has said anything about bountys.

A little cutscene ripping some low quality paper from a wall after a sheriff glued it to it.

You go, catch or kill the bad guy,

Go back, and then

A little cutscene where you receive the money.

It worked perfect in the first game didn't it?

Oh i can only dream.

Definitely a mod that makes it so that you can recruit companions from camp. Anyone too, not just limiting it to the active guns. Would be cool to take Mary-Beth, Tilly or even Molly out for a night on the town, go drinking with Karen or some of the boys, take Jack fishing again, take Cain out for a walk, go out for a big hunt, play poker with anyone at a bar, or just take all the active guns out for a huge shootout. Would also be cool if the mod made it so that you could recruit them during missions. For example, I always thought it would be funny if you brought Strauss along for the debt collector missions, or if you could recruit more members for big shootout missions, like "Preaching Forgiveness as He Went." That might require a good bit of work to make sure the missions don't break but it'd be great to see. In the same vein, it would be cool if there was a mod that let you recruit literally anyone (such as Eagle Flies but also random NPCs), ala the old San Andreas cheat.

I'd also like to see character model swapping, not just for Arthur but anyone. I can already see all the vids of people dueling Micah and Dutch, haha. And while it would take a whole ton of work, I think it would be cool if people could get Mexico in the game and then recreate RDR's missions. Dunno if that's even possible but it's prolly the closest we'll get to a Red Dead Remastered I'm afraid.

Also, I might be in a minority for wanting this, but I would love an option to turn friendly fire on, both for your horse and the companions. Even have it on in camp, and concerning camp, have the ability to actually run. Maybe even make it so that if enemies or the law come close to camp, you don't get an automatic game over, but a shootout ensues.

Just got another cool idea for a mod (unless they make it an option on PC)

The removal of motion blur. As beautiful as this game is, I feel the motion blur makes it harder to spot the finer details!

Got another couple of mod ideas: I'd like it if they could mod the missions "Horsemen, Apocalypses" and "Fleeting Joy" to have all of the gang members present. I don't know how hard it'd be to mod missions but I would love to see Micah, Javier, Bill and Lenny modded into the former, since there's really no mentioned reason they should have been absent.

A fun one would be making a Blackwater camp mod. Not saying any missions would need to be made for it, but it would be pretty cool if someone made it so that the gang roamed around the camp. Maybe we could even have Davey wandering, and Mac and Jenny have models; in the likely event they don't, maybe we could find models that look reasonably like they would and just pretend.

And finally, this one is kind of personal: Mod in the ability to spit on people. Yes, that and smoking were some of the things I were looking forward to doing most when the game out. And yes, I was very upset when I realized I couldn't.

The questions I'm wondering, now the game's got an official release date is...

Which version do we get, for modding?

Disc version which boots through R* Game Luncher, or the Steam Version?

Which one is most likely to get the mods on it first?

Well, I'd imagine it wouldn't matter, seeing as for GTA V you have to use the Rockstar Launcher regardless of what version you own (even if you bought it on Steam, you're still forced to download and install the launcher to play the game)
So, I think both versions should be fine for modding. Or at least, neither of them will have an advantage.

I'd like some weather mods like the tsunami, tornado and meteor strikes that were in GTA V. Maybe a bit of Zombie infestation aswell for a bit of survival roleplaying. Definately the tsunami mods or at the very least a sort of rising and lowering tide mod that make the water cover more or less of the map which would make things that bit more interesting.

Disable invisible sniper

Disable water deathwall

Disable map invisible barrier

Disable boat sink wall

to name a few we'll surely get early on.

Boah, what I really want to see is all Mexico recreated again... I want both maps (RDR and RDR2) complete to explore, with nature and NPCs. I want that feel I had on first RDR when I crossed that border on that ferry with Irish...

AND CUT BETA STUFF!!!

Obviously Mexico mod with all its towns and stuff. And if the modders are able to make some really powerful tools... Some other map expansions as well. I'd love if there was a way to expand the map north, filling up that hole in the eastern part of New austin (We lost that snowy part there), expanding tall trees, big valley and Ambarino and connecting them.

Finally we have confirmation of a PC version, though I think everyone knew it was coming.

My reasonable wishlish:

- Gang members followers (already possible through exploits)

- Storyline economy rebalance to stop players from getting too rich by the end of Arthur's storyline, and to cut the final payout at the end of the game

- Wanted level QOL fixes

- General QOL fixes (i.e. Stop forcing certain weapons for missions)

- Cut Content restoration (if any is found)

- Fixing that darn useless bathtub at Beecher's Hope

- Original RDR1 clothing ported over

- Online weapons ported over to Story mode

- Online clothing ported over to Story mode

- John's hair obviously

- Mods to change the player character

- Offline mode for RDO?

- Traffic count boost for offline RDO

I don’t think we’ll ever get a complete or good Mexico map mod to be honest.

I mean hell, it’s been what? Five years GTA V has been on PC and we still don’t have any complete ports/remakes of the old maps? Hell, even the 3D era games’ map ports haven’t had their final release after all these years. We’re also talking about a map that isn’t even on the same platform. RDR1 was never on PC, and I don’t think OpenIV’s RDR1 support is very strong.

Well actually we have had full map ports for GTA V. A full Liberty City map mod does exist for that game, though it's really big to download and isn't too easily found (It's not on 5Mods).
That's not even going into projects like RDRV, an attempt to port the entire RDR1 map to GTA V (That got shut down by TakeTwo). So, it's very possible something could exist for RDR2 in terms of maps, so long as OpenIV (or a similar tool) has decent support for it (which it theoretically should, seeing as RDR2 is based off GTA V's code and the like).
