Why didn't R* drop another banwave on this update?

Everyday i ran into cheaters who blew me up, crashed my game, destroying my cargoes you name it. And their numbers increasing, I can tell by those Chinese cheaters who kept advertising their cheats on the text chat, every five minutes they come and leave, why wouldn't Rockstar do anything about this?

Wow, that's weird. Rockstar Support doesn't randomly tweet out about banwaves out of the blue. In fact, I don't think they've ever tweeted about a PC banwave before

This is why it could be indication of some actual anti-cheat improvement

Because they would ban all the innocent players while all the cheaters would roam free, like withered leaves blowing through the autumn wind.

I certainly hope so!

It's been far too long that cheaters have had free reign.

The RDR PC release is getting closer, they really have to do something significant before that, or be a total laughing stock.

They should consider the effect on their reputation that will have.

Don't think I've seen them publicly prewarn before.

I imagine it's a public showing just to gear up towards RDR2/O's release on PC. Aside to play story only, after seeing what R* do with PC GTA players and how much they allow unpunished or blanket the victims of menu abuse with the cheats often getting the free pass, definitely damage control to sell to more players, lol.

No chance I touch RDRO on PC.

Indeed.

Although RDR2 SP part is a must. Even if the game is basically the same, I'm so excited about the stuff that REAL modders can perform with it. Map expansions and such *drools intensely*

And the datamining through the cut content will be EPIC. Can't wait for the announcement.

What difference will it make? "Oh no, my account got banned. Let me just load up one of the other ones I have and continue playing. Or I will just make a new account, use my Mod Menu to Mod everything I had back on this account and continue playing. R* foiled me for abut thirty minutes."

Other places, that we won't speak of, are still selling Modded accounts on every platform for a pittance. Thousands upon thousands of these accounts were created, you wont ever stop Modded money getting into the games and you wont ever stop Modders. I have seen multiple people who openly state "they wont play GTA after an update until the Mod menus have been updated" Updated? Thats all it takes.

Developers will never be smarter than thousands of people with too much time on their hands working together will be.

IP ban? Nah, VPN
Account ban? Nah, different account
Account reset? Mod menu that sh*t back in.

And in this futile battle its always the little guy that gets sh*t on.

This is an example of how impotent R* is against cheating. Go on Youtube and look up any glitch video. These people BLATANTLY leave their Gamertags, PSN ID's etc for everyone to see and nothing gets done. R* has proof that these people are encaging in "illegal activity" and they do nothing. You could literally spend a month watching glitch videos, adding peoples ID's to a list and then ban everyone at the same time in one glorious wave.

If they wanted to be more through they could cross-reference peoples ID's vs their stats on Social Club. "Oh whats that? You have seven hundred million in "Vehicles Sold"? And yet you have only earned two million from everything else? Where did the money come from in the first place? BANNED!"

Except that the buzz on all the cheater communities is that they've implemented hardware id bans :D (idk if this is true, but considering how widespread this rumor is im fairly sure somebody dug into the game code and found this)
So more like "Oh no, i have to buy a new mobo cpu gpu etc"

Good. I didn't mention that because I didn't think that R* would go that far. It wont do anything, the clever people are using spoofers.

To be blunt, r* are brain dead idiots. Basically they allowed hackers full access to admin rights of the game. Even If you actually guess correctly the hackers and try to report them, they have full admin rights, aka your hacking report goes directly to the hacker instead, and they can kick you.

Pretty pathetic r* can't grow brain cells and actually bother stopping the hackers from full access to the admin rights of the game.

It's probably not worth it to them to re-write aspects of the game to make Online work and perform better with GTA 6 around the corner.

They do care, have tried many times to fix the problem, but they just can't as of right now.

Enjoy paying for online. That's why I'm sticking to pc. Make no sense to play online.

I just played for WAY to long because i just kept hopping sessions enjoying the dumpster fire, theres a clear rise of cheaters again (im guessing people trying to get their moneys worth while they still can) but i also saw the "[username] was detected cheating and has been removed from the session" at least 12 times today, i'll even admit that a few of those i kinda provoked lmao, i really hope this is here to stay and will get expanded upon, at the moment it only seems to happen for some real obvious stuff (cheaters teleporting other players, spawning themselves personal blacklisted vehicles, etc) and off-course it remains to be seen if R* can keep the upper hand, but my god today was a good day

Spoiler

Well I pay to "eliminate the garbage" in the game...
But I don't judge...

And the benefits of paying a XBox Gold, is more than just playing GTAO...

I bet they'll stop once RDR 2 on PC is out lol

Let's be honest, that's the only reason they're trying.

Technically almost impossible and legally catastrophic since they do not sell nor control hardware. Microsoft uses complex hardware ID technology to check for the activation and it's deep in the OS and not available as a stand-alone API. Cheating will be as it was and P2P is to blame.

VI will be the same in terms of P2P connectivity. RDO is the same too. But they can keep that garbage to themselves since I'm not playing their online games again.

Actually pretty easy to implement (a basic version anyway, yes there will be people clever enough to spoof id's etc, but even a basic version should handle at least 50% if not more of current cheaters, as those are just nooby kids who hardly know how to buy their cheats)

Also legally theres nothing wrong with this either, the EULA is accepted by the person, not by the social club profile, since they cant do an iris scan or whatever (lol) this is a perfectly legal way to deny a person that broke the EULA acces to the game, they have to 'detect people' somehow, and this is a perfectly legal fairly often used approach these days (sidenote: this is why CS:GO went free to play aswell, Valve implemented this in Steam for that game, made the game free to play to test this system, and there are hints it might roll it out as a service in the future)

Cheaters have no rights, they accept the EULA and then break it, T2 & R* can literally sue every single person in question, but since thats obviously an impossible task (at this point anyway) they just go to greater and greater lengths to keep those people out of the game.

Checked some cheat forums this morning and its hilarious how bscly every thread has 30 people saying they've been banned on several accounts in the past day

They are banning people left and right. It's just not enough. If you look how quickly they patch glitches, especially those allowing you to get money, you can get an idea how much effort they spend on right out cheaters. There is just too many of them.

Banwaves, by the definition of a banwave that people commonly attribute, do not exist. This has been proven many times over for quite some time now.

What do exist, precisely, and has been tested and proven, are background scripts which update with what are called signature scans of a certain mod menu trainer or another, usually several at a time per bgscripts update, which will then cause any player using one of the mod menu trainers that have been sigged, to essentially become detected if it has been injected via LoadLibrary into the GTA5.exe process and the user loaded online with it injected, even if the did not use it does not matter, their account will become suspended within a few hours typically.

This may give the appearance of a "banwave", but technically it is not a banwave by the false definition that people use for this term "banwave", but merely should be referred to as a detection. Of which of course by the very nature of how bgscripts sig scanning would appear results in a so-called "banwave".

Rockstar do not traditionally wait for a certain period of time (months, release of a new dlc, etc) to mass suspend a massive sh*t-ton of modder's accounts lol, it has never really worked like that.

Anyway, aside from signature scans, Rockstar commonly also implement measures for certain features that mod menus may be capable of to be come detected upon usage; Usually used to cause spotty suspensions amongst the users of more technically advanced mod menu trainers which effectively block bgscripts from retrieving the signature of the menu when it is injected.

Aside from the above, there are also staff who in fact are documented to be in-game in essentially a hidden player SCTV spectator slot (player index 31 or 32), but these staff are usually only tasked with finding money drop lobbies or modders spawning money in-game to other players. These are what usually result in the little minimap notifications that are sent out lobby-wide stating "XXX was detected cheating and has been removed from the session" basically a manual ban enacted from one of these staff.
