universetwisters
-Identity (flopped) -RAW (yanked from kickstarter at the last minute, bound to flop) -CivilContractRPG (who knows where this is going yet???) -And I'm sure some others I forgot to mention Going through kickstarter and reddit, I notice there's a trend of modern RPG games. Pretend to be a cop, or a criminal, or whomever else! None of them ever seem to come anywhere close to fruition though, but they're all still very prominent on gaming sites. Also, it's always indie studios doing stuff like this, never any AAA fellas. But who pays attention to them anyway. Are modern RPG games going to be the next big thing, considering how many attempts to make one there are, or are they just failed attempts at taking Gmod RP nostalgia too far? Is the fact that AAA studios never tried to make one (to my memory) any indication that they're going to flop out and fail if they were to be made? If you are talking about actual innovation, then of course it won't be coming from a AAA studio, unless perhaps CD Projekt RED. I say that because, though they make great games, they haven't really innovated ludologically or technologically--but they are the only AAA studio that is gamer-run and has even the possibility of going outside of the box.
