XxElBigMex913xX
Well for those that haven’t heard, Denis Villeneuve, the French-Canadian director that helmed Incendies, Enemy, Sicario, Arrival, and the masterful Blade Runner 2049 has already wrapped up with the production of Dune and it is safe to say that the 2020 remake will follow the source material very closely. Anyone that have seen David Lynch’s take of Dune (1984) or the mini-series on SyFy (2000s) may admit that they were kind of bad even though these attempts from Hollywood did not accurately captured the source material quite well. And I have to say it, but the book is one phenomenal read I tell you what. Which actors/actresses are in the film remake?: Timothee Chamelet (Call Me By Your Name/Interstellar) = Paul Atreides Zendaya (Spiderman: Homecoming/Euphoria) = Chani Rebecca Ferguson (Mission Impossible/The Greatest Showman) = Lady Jessica Oscar Isaac (Drive/Star Wars: Force Awakens) = Duke Leto Stellan Skarsgard (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo/Chernobyl) = Baron Vladimir Harkonnen or Flying Fatman Harkonnen Jason Mamoa (Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones/Aquaman) = Duncan Idaho Josh Brolin (Thanos need to say more?) = Gurney Halleck Javier Bardem (Anton Chigurh or the bad guy from No Country for Old Men) = Stilgar Dave Bautista (Batista from WWE/Draxx from GOTG) = Rabban David Dastmalchian (Prisoners/Coco from Blade Runner 2049) = Piter de Vries Chen Chang (Crounching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) = Dr. Wellington Yeuh Charlotte Rampling (Assassin’s Creed/Swimming Pool) = Reverend Mother Gaius Mohaim Sharon Duncan Brewster = Liet Kynes *GENDER SWAPPED ROLE* Stephen McKinley Henderson (Fences) = Thufir Hawat *Impressive Casting Though* [The Rest of the Supporting Cast..] Alia Atriedes (Currently Unknown for Part Two) Princess Irulan (Currently Unknown) [My wish is to have Chloe Grace Moretz, Julia Goldani-Telles, or Margaret Qualley to play Princess Irulan] Emperor Shaddam IV (Currently Unknown for Part Two) Feyd Rautha (Currently Unknown for Part Two) Will it cover the whole book?: Nope, it will be split into two films as the first half will focus on Paul and Jessica’s escape to the Fremen sietch. As for the second part of Dune, the release date is currently unknown at this time and it may focus on House Corrino's POV on The Atriede's influence to power since Princess Irulan and Shaddam IV will be in it. Plus, the remake may go after for an R-rating as the stuff that was described will justify the intensity that surrounds Frank Herbert's Dune. Who's writing the script?: Eric Roth (A Star is Born/Forrest Gump), Jon Spaihts (Doctor Strange/Prometheus) and Denis Villeneuve himself. *The narrative will exceed expectations ain't gonna lie about that!* Who's shooting the cinematography?: Greig Fraser (Zero Dark Thirty, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Lion, and The Batman) Teaser Shots of Denis Villeneuve's Dune: *The Dune remake is still gonna look very gorgeous without Roger Deakins this time.* When is it coming out?: December 18 2020 or 2021 due to COVID-19. Will there be more Dune coming out after the two movies finish?: Yes, there will be a prequel based on Brian Herbert's and Kevin Anderson's novel called The Sisterhood of Dune, but the TV show is called Dune: The Sisterhood. It will premiere exclusively on HBO MAX. All I know is Denis Villeneuve will be running as an Executive Producer of the show even though he's directing the pilot episode to start things off for the Bene Gesserit side of the story. And for the rest, Jon Spaihts, Brian Herbert, and Kevin Anderson are taking over as the creators and writers of the show. And one of the writers from Rick and Morty are currently writing the script for Dune: The Sisterhood. Should I read the book or watch the media material?: The book obviously. Alejandro Jodorowsky's Dune Documentary [The Greatest Sci-Fi Film Never Made and imo, it's 2x better than David Lynch's Dune ] "It's basically Star Wars and Game of Thrones set in space with some Lord of the Rings on-top." “The Spice Must Flow” Edited September 15, 2020 by XxElBigMex913xX Moar updated touches before the film's release boah... Icanhandlerejection
The Twin Peaks Dune did have some great acting in it Mr. Twin Peaks for example (unfortunately it also had some awful acting in it as well), excellent music (the closing theme music ia fabulous), and great art direction. It's major flaw was length too much to cover and nearly every artistic shortcut taken was a miss. The mini series was okay (budget or the lack of one was problematic), but not thev worst effort I have seen. The first movie ending with Paul and Jessica being accepted into the sietch is a good breaking point. The second movie beginning with the revolt and told from the Harkonnen and Corrino POV, to shroud and enhance the Muad'Dib legend and identity, would be interesting. HOW'S ANNIE?
Despite wanting a book closer to the source material, I can't honestly imagine anyone other than Kyle McLachlan in the role of Paul Atreides. It's strange, I read the book and the only thing that really seaps in from having watched the David Lynch film is McLachlan's performance. Edited December 15, 2019 by HOW'S ANNIE? Mister Pink
Finally, the trailer. Very nice. Anyone wondering the music, (in case they've been living under a rock) is a cover of Pink Floyd. Reckon they couldn't secure the rights for the original. Ivan1997GTA 1 𝙼𝚄𝚂𝙸𝙲 𝙽𝙾𝙽 𝚂𝚃𝙾𝙿
RARusk
Supposedly it is a nod to Jodorowsky's Dune where the soundtrack was supposed to be done by Pink Floyd. Interestingly enough Toto would later do the soundtrack for David Lynch's version. Mister Pink 1 "One day I will think of this as just another job. After all, this is what I do." Mister Pink
I went to see Dune in the IMAX on Saturday night. I was blown away. In my opinion this film is superb. I think it will be a future classic. Villenueve has just added another to his winning streak of highly rated films. He's becoming one of my favourite directors. Also, Dune Part 2 is confirmed and has got the go-ahead. OK, so it was a bit of a risk to do it in parts but Villenueve's career as a writer/director/producer has superb. His films are nearly all critical, audience and box office successes. It was a calculated risk but with good probability for success and it paid off. https://variety.com/2021/film/news/dune-part-2-sequel-1235094974/ Edited November 1, 2021 by Mister Pink AkshayKumar 1 𝙼𝚄𝚂𝙸𝙲 𝙽𝙾𝙽 𝚂𝚃𝙾𝙿
