Shauny7488
If I remember correctly, Kate encourages you to take the deal because she doesnt want Niko to kill any more, she wants him to take the most peaceful option. But on the way Niko talks about how hes only doing this deal for the money. Niko never really cared all that much about money. Weird Roman would be the one encouraging Niko to take Deal, because Roman thinks this would bring them lots of money. Kate discourages Niko from working with Dimitri because he already betrayed Niko once. Niko would do Deal because of Roman. billiejoearmstrong8
Yeah Kate encourages you NOT to do the deal, she says you shouldn't go against your principles by working with someone who betrayed you for money. Roman encourages taking deal, talking about all the awesome stuff they could do with the money. Irony being whichever one Niko listens to is the one who ends up killed as a result. As far as why Niko would take the deal I think it's more about trying to put an end to all the trouble and "get out". Niko says it's just for the money and it partly is (he isn't supposed to be super rich and is supposed to still be in want of money) but he does the same thing through the whole game, always justifying his actions by saying it's simply for the money and he has no other options to make money even when that isn't strictly true. So like the rest of the stuff he does in the game "for money" it is partly for that but also partly for other reasons that he doesn't necessarily get into. gooeyhole
Deal works because Niko gets nothing from killing Darko and after killing Ray he sounds exhausted over the phone to Roman. His dealing in death burnt him out. It fits the post story phonecalls well where still alive Kate pleads with Niko not to turn cold, but it's too late. IV is too beautifully miserable to end in a way that isn't worst case scenario. D T, Lance Mayhem and billiejoearmstrong8
billiejoearmstrong8
I think a lot of the decision is also just weighing up which will put him and Roman in a better and safer position. Will taking a chance dealing with Dimitri (knowing it's a risk to deal with him) and doing as Pegorino asks making some money if it works out put him in a better position, or will passing up the potentially dodgy deal and eliminating Dimitri against Pegorino's wishes removing one threat and getting the revenge he wanted put him in a better position? He doesn't know for sure. It's a combination of that practical side of things (his head) and how much he desires revenge or doesn't desire to cooperate with someone who previously betrayed him (his heart), and also just depends on how much he really cares at this point in the broken state he's in. Difficult decision with no good outcome. gooeyhole
