IS90
Should I go for the PS5 when it launches or start building a PC that can run upcoming GTA? What would be the specs and price range when it comes to PC? Edited August 6, 2019 by BlueLion90 CrimsonFolo
MrQuiche
The game is not even announced and you already want people to speculate about the PC specs, we still haven't got RDR2 on PC by the way. If the game is to be released in 4 years on PC, everything will be different in the industry from prices to performance, there's even a good chance raytracing will be available in almost all games. Patience is a VIrtue which I do not have :). I was only thinking that it would be easier on the pocket if I build a PC during this wait and use an emulator (if any) when this game and others come out. MrQuiche
An emulator?? We have yet to emulate the 360 and the PS3 at a smooth playable experience and you already think we'll be able to emulate the PS5/Xbox Next, we still haven't got an emulator for the PS4 that don't crash in the main menu. Damn. Thank you for the wake up call . I am not up to date at all with this stuff and was looking for guidance. Topic can now be closed as the next gen consoles have won. Cheers! Zello
R* doesn't release the PC version at the same time as the consoles so be prepared to wait a long time. GTA V came to PC in 2015. RDR2 PC hasn't happened yet. CrimsonFolo and IS90
CrimsonFolo
PC been getting the short end of the stick really by rockstar. A suped up PC is very good but if it's simply for GTA 6 and Rockstar follow their old paths, they're like to not release PC version up to 6 months - a year after console release. RDR2 hasn't gotten PC and its coming close to a year. Plus depending on knowledge, PCs can be annoying to use or maintain (e.g. crashes or compatibility issues are far more frequent from my experience ) IS90

fdiuhywsu
The PC version will be better but it will launch months after the console release because Rockstar. It depends if you are ok with waiting or not. CrimsonFolo and IS90

Len Lfc
If you're considering a PC, then bear in mind you have a long ass wait lol. If GTA 6 releases in 2023, then the PC version will be in 2025... Lotte
im pretty sure every GTA since III (more or less) has been released on consoles first and pc a year or so later so if you want to play it asap then get a console but if gta is the only thing you're getting it for i'd wait for an announcement IS90
Timcatgt5
I'd be fortunate to have my PC run GTA VI on medium settings with a solid framerate when it's released. Considering that I struggle to get at least 40fps on ultra for GTA V, I would wait a few months until they optimise the game to suit graphics cards from 2016 to play on medium, at the least. But I have already made plans for my new gaming computer in 2 years time. An investment for the future. IS90
Lioshenka
I'd say do a PC. You can use it for other things, so it will be money well spent, and also by the time the game comes out you will probably get a slightly better version. Lordani_66
Console, of course. PC gaming is dying nowadays. Less and less people play on PCs today, as the prices got crazy. Plus you will get al the AAA exclusives, that PC platform lacks. IS90

DOUGL4S1
I'm nearly certain the game will be released for the PS4/Xbox One first, just like GTA V was first released to PS3/Xbox360, and later remastered into current gen. They may have to cut some stuff from the game, but they'll get a lot more potential customers.
Eternal Moonshine
Waiting for a PC release might be a bit painful so it's better to play it on a console first. PC version as always will be superior in terms of graphics and won't be FPS locked. The only good reason to play GTA games on a console is because you can play the game as soon as it's released. Once the game is ported to PC there's no reason to go back to playing it on a console IS90
MrQuiche
There was a time where it was easier to wait for a PC version of a game made by Rockstar, first because it actually took less time to come and second, there was actually other interesting games to play while waiting. Now, the games (open-worlds ones) are pure horse sh*t compared to the GTA or RDR franchise. IS90
Casualplaya
I've always been more of the PC type - I think both has its merits, but PC should be a must in any case. IS90
PUTKA
I'm doing both. PS5 and a 3080ti build. I'd also hire a couple of prostitutes to blow me while I'm playing the game for the first time on release day. My GF wants to watch me play the first few missions though... maybe she knows... I don't mind her watching though. IS90
GTAhare
GTA 6 would be best as a next-gen game. Seeing how Red Dead Redemption 2 struggles on current hardware there’s no way GTA 6 as a current gen title could surpass or even equal Red Dead Refemption 2 in things like details, AI, graphics, etc. I bet if Rockstar would’ve known how popular GTA Online would’ve become and how GTA 5 is still relevant almost six years after it’s release, they would’ve at least considered making it for the PS4 and Xbox One to make it more future proof. Strauss Zelnick did say the games are taking too long, yes, but I think people could’ve taken what he said too literally. Seeing how Rockstar could sacrifice some initial sales as an early next gen release and keep the game profitable for years with Online and potentially single player DLC I believe GTA 6 could last even longer than GTA 5. What I mean is if Rockstar expects GTA 6 to last 6+ years I think it’d be more profitable in the long run to make a game for next-gen consoles so it can be future proof instead of making a game on hardware that’s really showing its age and porting it to the next-gen. ArmaniAdnr
I would think first of all if you are someone, who would like to use mods after few years of playing new GTA. If yes there is no other question and you should choose PC. If not there is another question and it's youtube, if you are youtube content creator I think aswell PC is better choice. If you are not, then I would like to say even I'm PC player, for offline PC, for online could be better game experience from console, or use console controllers on PC I think console would have from start more + in graphic etc as new gen console but after some time PC will get on higher level even when was speaking about mods. Best choice - get both IS90

marcolinomarcol
If you want to play gta 6 as soon as it comes out, go for a ps5 (as long as they don't double dip) but trust me a mid-level pc build is always worth it, yes it is more expensive but games on pc are way less expensive than console (keys are cheap af) and you usually have more freedom with them (modding) and better graphics especially if you get a new rtx card. anyways they say ps5 will cost upwards of 599 (even tho i don't believe they'd sell that much with a price that high) so a pc isn't going to be that much more expensive. About 900€ if you want fancy ray tracing, 750/800€ without, we still don't know the specs for gta 6 but a pc of that range should be able to run the game at least on max (if it is as well optimized as gta 5 was at its time) if it comes out in 2021/2022. 38 minutes ago, XXVIII said: 19-S! Jimmy
A few months ago, I settled on getting a PS4 Pro before the PS5 leaks surfaced. My gaming setup back home was out of commission (courtesy of faulty wiring and lightning strike). It was time to decide between a build that would last for the next 5 to 6 years and would run all the upcoming games effortlessly in 1080p resolution at most ( I don't have space for a 4k Monitor at my current residence) and a Playstation 5 (would be a long wait). Weighing in budget and reliability, PS5's expected price comes around $1100 (80,000 INR). At the same time the price of a proper gaming build (good cooling tower, liquid cooling, good gpu, Ryzen 9, a good monitor) comes about $1800. The only downside on the PS5 as it may seem atm, is the lack of an optical drive (if it actually ships without one). I have got a good Giga Fiber connection and a can easily save $700 by waiting just a bit longer. For all we may know, GTA VI (or whatever they call it) will release on consoles first (V did). Tips the scales in favor of PS5, not to forget the fact that it's easier to transport if I ever move houses. On top of it, my laptop (Lenovo Legion Y540) does everything I expect on it and saves the trouble of building a PC. So, there you go. IS90 1 i5 10400F • MSI Z490-A PRO • XPG 16GB DDR4 3000MHz • MSI RX 570 4GB • NZXT H510 • Cooler Master MWE 650 V2
IS90
Well, to be honest, as the game will release on consoles first and being the only reason why this thread has been created, most likely a console will do the trick. Big thanks to all of you for your thoughts. For the moment my 360 handles the GTA's pretty well (except VC and III, can't find them anywhere for this version) On 9/9/2019 at 9:52 PM, XXVIII said: 19-S! Hut... hut! 927 Gold!
