This game is a beast technically but are we sure it's not a console exclusive like RDR1?

You are in for a treat. 4K max details 60 fps?

My ultrawide only goes to 1440p, but that should then make it an even better chance I can max things out still.

The real question will be in any photorealistc mods.

Yep, this was found within the companion app too. i.e. see my Location in my profile. :p

DebugCarRecordingsPath? Might be for the NPC's wagon but it's strange to let it be called like that but then again, they know what is what and they have docs so...

They're shared functions from GTA, so they keep the names. It's a humongous hassle to change all function names in an already established engine that was primarily developed for GTA.

All being said, this thing should be the opposite of AC Origins which is the ultimate middle finger to PC players.

Every Ubisoft game is f*cking optimized like garbage on PC even tho they earn the most from PC market.

Ubisoft uses Denuvo + VMProtect so that uses CPU a lot...

And I hope no bigger DRM will be used on RDR2.. though they already used Arxan for GTA V..

I hope RDR2 is optimized better than GTA V, GTA V was fine expect that grass that f*cked your FPS up, I'm sure they fixed that with RDR2.

I got somewhat close last time. Let's see.

Minimum Requirements (Remember, these are for Normal Settings)

OS: Windows 10 64 Bit, Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit

Processor: Intel Core i3 4170 @ 3.7GHz (2C/4T) / AMD Ryzen 3 1200 @ 3.1Ghz (4C/4T)

Memory: 8GB RAM

Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 750 Ti 2GB / AMD Radeon HD 7870

Storage: 120GB~ Available Space (HDD)

Adjusted Requirements
OS: Windows 10 64 Bit, Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit

Processor: Intel Core i3 8100 @ 3.6Ghz (4C/4T) / AMD Ryzen 5 2500G @ 3.9Ghz (4C/8T)
Memory: 12GB RAM (Averaging)
Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti 4GB (or 1060 6GB) / AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB

Storage: 120GB~ Available Space (HDD or SSD, SSD preferred)

Recommended Requirements

OS: Windows 10 64 Bit (For DXR), Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit

Processor: Intel Core i5 8400 @ 4.0Ghz (6C/6T) / AMD Ryzen 5 2600 @ 3.9Ghz (6C/6T)

Memory: 16GB RAM

Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1070 8GB (RTX 2060S/RTX 2070 for DXR) / AMD Radeon RX 590 8GB

Storage: 120GB~ Available Space (SSD)

I usually don't account for hardware that's too recent because the requirements usually also don't.
Just look at GTA V, the minimum GPU requirement on the NVIDIA side was the 9800 GT.

EDIT:

A few observations. The RDR2 engine, as confirmed by both developers and game files, uses Raymarching.

I speculate that this will be possible to be hardware accelerated using DXR.

According to the SIGGRAPH 2019 PPTX, the game currently uses a solution that runs at a low resolution and gets a temporal filtering after about 4 frames (I believe so).
I suppose that if they use DXR, owners of RTX Cards will be able to increase the quality of the raytracing/marching in the game. Making for an even more realistic and mindblowing experience. That's why I listed RTX cards in there.

Another advantage is that RDR2 will feature DirectX 12, while GTA V only used 11 as highest.

That also gives another performance boost i suggest.

This will help CPU optimizations in the big city for sure.

Just swap GTX 750 Ti with GTX 660, 750 Ti is close to Xbox One in power, not PS4.

My PC specifications are:

i7-8700k

GTX 1070

16GB RAM (running at 3000mhz)

Also I'm planning to buy an SSD to install this game on it once it releases.

I just hope I can play the entire game smoothly at high-ultra settings @ a steady 1080p 60fps even though I have a 144hz monitor, without any huge dips when walking in

Spoiler

Valentine or Saint-Denis.

I can almost guarantee you'll be able to play at 1080p 60 FPS with that setup. You don't have to push very hard to get 60 frames on a 1080p res anymore. The struggle has now moved on into higher resolutions, leaving us 1080p sitting fairly comfortably in blissful stagnation. I've been running stuff at 1080p, 60 with this GTX 980 since 2014.

Dips every now and then, and of course every once in a while you have games like AC Origins and Odyssey come along... but aside from that, no real complaints thus far.

Depend on how much R* optimized their game, based on last previous titles(GTA V, Max Payne 3), the time they are taking to make it to PC and how RAGE have developed : I am expecting RDR2 to be well optimized on PC to let as much players as possible to play it.

And this is my prediction for the specs:

MINIMUM SPECS (GTA V RECOMMENDED SPECS) :

CPU : Core i5 or Ryzen 3,5

GPU : GTX 660

RAM : 8GB

OS : Win 7 64 bit

RECOMMENDED SPECS :

CPU : modern i7 or Ryzen 7

GPU : GTX 1060 6GB OR even a GTX 1070

RAM : 12 GB or 16 GB

OS : Win 10 64 bit

Storage : 100GB+

The game will support Vulkan, Dx11 and Dx12 API.

The good thing here is, because of how good this game looks, something tells me that it'll still look pretty good even on the lowest settings if it were to get to PC 😄

To the posts above, isn't i3 and GTX 660 too low for such game?

Weekly reminder about the Companion app directly referencing itself being able to connect to a PC version of RDR2 (other than all the other evidence) presented before:

Offset: 3334066 - PARAM_companionAutoConnectIpDurango
Offset: 3334102 - PARAM_companionAutoConnectIpOrbis
Offset: 3334136 - PARAM_companionAutoConnectIpPC

Durango = Xbox One

Orbis = PS4

PC = well...

Maybe an i3 is, but the GPU support is correct for a 660 and above....

You probably will get a 660 to run it.  Don't forget there's multiple modders and simple config edits that'll allow lower spec cards to run, simply by changing certain settings below what is possible in the game menus.

It'll look like utter dog poo, but it will run.

For minimum specs, i don't think a 660 2GB can keep up, a 770 4GB should be enough just because of the 2GB VRAM added especially when you consider that every Nvidia card up to the 400 series has been moved to legacy and don't receive any drivers now. There's only the 500 series left before the 600 so i expect them to lose drivers support in the near future too. The 660 was released back in 2012 (before GTA V even released on PS3/360).

For me it'll be more like this :

Minimum Specs:

Core i5 4th gen / i7 3rd gen, AMD Ryzen 3 1st gen /Ryzen 5 1st gen

GPU : GTX 770 4GB / R9 290/X 4GB

RAM : 8 GB

OS : Windows 7 64 Bit / Windows 8/8.1 64 Bit / Windows 10 64 Bit

Storage ; (that's kinda hard but based on the One X version i can clearly put) 110+ GB

Recommended Specs (for 1080p 60 FPS on High graphics) :

CPU : Core i5 6th gen / i7 5th gen, AMD Ryzen 3 2nd gen / Ryzen 5 2nd gen

GPU : GTX 1060 6GB / 1660Ti 6GB / RX 560 4GB / RX 570 8GB

RAM : 12 GB atleast, 16 GB better

OS: Same as minimum specs

Storage; Same as minimum specs.

Eh minimum CPU specs feels too much don't you think? More like i5 3rd gen and AMD FX series.

I feel like they changed the compile target name between versions of RAGE. Used to be win32, then win64/x64, and now just PC. Likely to reflect the fact every single platform is 64-bit now.

i wonder if that means that the game .rpfs for RDR2 on PC will change from x64a-x64w (maybe they go to z this time too) to PCa-PCz or something

I currently have an i5 4440 3.2 GHz and I'm planning on upgrading my GPU to a GTX 1070Ti (hopefully) and I'm confident that my PC will run it smoothly.
They will make the game very much optimized so that they can sell as many copies as possible!

If you're upgrading to a 1070Ti, you're gonna want to upgrade your CPU as it will be bottlenecking your new GPU quite a bit.

As soon as I'll find a job and start earning some money I'll do that. Although I have to say, judging by other people's benchamarks, it seems to do very well.
