Hey guys,

I never really got into the online part of the game, but i see now they have the casino version and lots of fun updates so can you guys bring me up to scratch and tell me how online works a little bit? I have some questions first...

  1. If i wasn't really playing online until now am i starting from the start of online, or can you play any section or feature of it?  Im confused about the flow of online, can anyone explain?
  2. Is online including a lot of missions that can be done alone do you always need someone to play with? If so the earlier parts might be hard to do?
  3. In a nutshell whats the basis of gta online?  If that can be explained lol

Sorry guys, any tips or breakdowns so i can understand i know their was heists from a long time ago too id like to do those.. let me know anything that may help me understand online play.

Thanks!

  1. There's very little structure to Online beyond a few early tutorial missions, most things are available to all players as long as they have the money. Certain weapons and vehicle upgrades are locked to higher levels or completion requirements, but there are alternatives. Activities and missions that were added later are typically intended for more experienced, higher level players, but there's not many hard lockouts to keep low-level players from trying them.
  2. Many missions can be done alone, though not everything should be. Heists, both the original and Doomsday, require a cooperative team, though they pay out a lot more than typical missions. There are also occasional freemode activities which pay out money or other rewards and those can usually be done alone, though most are only accessible in public sessions, so there's a high degree of player vs. player competition.
  3. There's not really a story or goal to Online. While major updates have added their own individual story content, most of Online play is freeform, with focus on making cash in order to buy items - cars, clothes, properties, et cetera - in order to either have fun, or make the cash-making efforts easier. You can buy offices and warehouses to run car/crate jobs, motorcycle clubhouses and operate illicit businesses for profit, or a nightclub and generate income passively from multiple sources. Each provides lots of gameplay and money-making opportunities, though each has its own benefits and pitfalls, which you can find in guides such as those on the GTA Series Videos channel on YouTube.

My most general suggestion is to find friends to play with, or ask around here for people on the same platform as you to get you on your feet. GTA Online can be a hard, lonely game for a solo player, and without some guidance it can be pretty frustrating. A good group can make bank and have fun where a solo player will be left more to the grind, and with early-game equipment it's going to be rough. If you're looking forward to missions and combat, learn what tools - vehicles, weapons, armour - are best, and keep the more frivolous purchases for when you've got excess money. Fun should always come first, because it is a game, but be wary of money pits, high-risk/low-reward missions, and anything resembling gambling. Do your research! And don't turn into a tryhard. Nobody likes a tryhard.

Don't buy a Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack.

Don't buy Paleto Bunker.

Don't buy a yacht or a hangar.

Do buy a garage as soon as you can afford one, and put insurance on your car.

It'll be a while before you can afford any of that, but I thought I'd get the advice in early.

I like races and heists, though the heists can be frustrating, it's pointless I think to host the heists, so you can pass buying an expensive apartment, I like the interior of the cheapest apartments best, this plus a huge garage and you can store 12 cars. There is more to do in the PS/Next gen version, in only played the 360 version, maybe in the Next gen version the expensive apartments have more use other than to host heists.

Hey,

Yep, basically what @Willy A. Jeep and @whywontyoulisten said.

I've just started from scratch on a new platform to see what it's like and it's entirely possible to play specific sections of the game of your choosing. Without engaging in all of the 'big' activities i've got to level 40 in a week. I haven't bothered with Import/Export, Bunkers, Biker Gangs or Offices and went straight to getting a Nightclub, which was released last year. My daily property bills are less than $1500 again - that feels so good :D

The most i've found with restrictions as a low-level character so far? Paint and clothing unlocks, neither of which really hold a player back from playing.

Personally I avoid PvP where possible so I spend a lot of time in invite-only. This can potentially be boring and directionless depending on your preferred style of play or experience, but good for if you just want to take photos, explore the map or try new cars out. Invite Only can be made more fun if you play with friends, though it's not a requirement and you can play a lot of the earlier content on your own.

Some content does demand that you play with others, such as Lamar and Casino missions, Heists, etc. I'd just see what you want to engage with most and if it has a minimum player requirement (a lousy design decision in my opinion but it's not going away anytime soon) the Find Lobbies and Players section of the forum might be a good place to ask for like-minded company to help out.

P.S. if you don't engage with certain things (e.g. bunkers), you will get phone calls from NPCs basically telling you to buy their overpriced properties. This is incredibly annoying but they'll only call you once shortly after you log in and start a new session. Get used to hanging up on them, it's a necessary evil but it is also kinda satisfying not letting Agent 47 and Lester finish a sentence.

Also - as a low-level player... buying a 10-car garage, filling it with Gallivanter Ballers taken off the street in downtown Los Santos and selling one every in-game day (48 mins) is an easy way to get a small cash boost alongside missions, races, daily objectives and all the other stuff :)

There's a LOT of stuff you should know before going too far.

Researching a little on youtube first will allow you to skip things you're not interested in.

Some relaible youtubers are (not limited to, there are more): The Professional, Tylarious, GhillieMaster, GTA Series.

These are no BS authors with plenty of guides, you can pick and choose from their ideas to form your own blend of play, and will inform you of what NOT to buy, especially important when money's tight.

There are many crews online that will eagerly help new players to make money pretty quick, and you'll learn a lot from engaging with them if this is your preference.

Solo play is also certainly possible, and not that limiting, things just take a little longer, and you won't get to do some things like heists and story missions.

How you approach the game depends on your priorities.

GTA Online is not a game, it's a sandbox. If you approach it as a game (if you try to compete with other players)  - you will be frustrated and dissapponted, as there is zero balance in races and PvP

The beauty of GTA:O is that you can play it in a way that no one else previously tried.

Yes, dig into the guides, but remember to carve your own path.

Filter the search to the last year, since most of the guides are outdated.

Yes, very good point, only the most relevant guides including recent additions.

Don’t forget vip work, $50k min in your bank.  Sightseer pays $23k+ and helis can be found around the map.  The blue sentinel found at eclipse towers at night sells for $16k.  Stick to the basics while doing contact missions,  while spamming rockets is fun it’s expensive for new players as it’s not helping you to lose $$ doing work.  And as said above try to find other players willing to help or just starting, your not the only one just starting.

There are quite a few cheaters and op flying dildos killing everyone they can. Some session can be quiet, others not. I make it a point to just load the game and make sure i'm alone. The option join crews (2), does it for me. Then simply join Simeon repo and Martin dispatch missions. You make about as much money as a business. If it's a 2x week, you get far more money than any business in the game per minute.

I thought this was supposed to be an online forum where people with genuine questions can come and get some actual answers? Why is crap like this from toxic users even allowed by the moderators?

Maybe OP didn't post his question cuz he wanted to read some dumb joke? all you ever do is go around posting garbage like that. if the "joke" was funny at least, that'd be a different story

DrKrankenstein

just get a ceo office, a vehicle cargo warehouse, and a fully upgraded bunker, from there you are set to expand any way you like.

want to go full automated: cocaine lab, meth lab, bunker, nightclub.

everything else is luxury.

Don't forget the Little Seoul location, which spawns earlier (~6 p.m. to midnight in-game time) then the Eclipse Towers spawn--giving you at least more in-game hours to grab it.

Just note that it won't spawn until you drive another Sentinel XS somewhat slowly toward the location (gas station):

You're forgetting a few things.

Have a barcode username, have an organization name like "GOxPASSIVEXD" and become Danny Phantom (going ghost)

Don't forget EWOing and teleporting to Orbital Cannon as well.

- Play missions and heists until you can afford a 10 car apartment, buy one
Now you can store cars, but much more importantly, you can host your own heist and take the biggest cut of the paycheck at the end

- Play missions and heists till you can afford a CEO Office, buy one
- Play missions and heists till you can afford a Car Import/Export warehouse for CEO, buy one (use computer in the office)
- Source cars (using computer in the office)
- Fill up the entire warehouse full 100% and then only sell 'Top Tier' cars, once you start running low on 'Top Tier' cars source more, you will only get new top tier cars (never bother selling 'collections' btw, theres no unlock or anything, and it even pays LESS then selling the cars separately, and really you should just only sell 'Top Tier' cars)
The above CEO office/car stuff (once set up, and theres quite a steep buy-in) should net you 80k per 15-20 minutes, pretty good money, after 25-30 sales you make back your office&car warehouse investment, after that its all profit.

Some more stuff:
- Nothing wrong with buying criminal mastermind pack if you're willing to spend more on the game, but know that you can also have all that stuff for free if you just play the missions/heists/etc to get money to buy the stuff ingame
- DONT buy a nightclub early on, its a complete waste of money unless you have a bunch of other criminal companies already (so if you buy the above pack then its fine, as you get a bunch of companies and prolly even a nightclub)
- Get yourself a bunker if you like weaponized vehicles, as a ton of them require you to unlock certain weapons trough bunker research
- Stay away from the Casino for now, or keep very close watch on your funds when you do go, its very easy to LOSE money in the casino, and as a new player with limited budget thats obviously an issue.
- Work towards getting level120 as quickly as possible, as you will unlock everything (all weapons, vehicle modifications, clothes, etc) once you hit that level

I suggest noob read all the instructions carefully and listen to the phone call,it save u a lot of time....(there's a lot of idiot never read or listen....)

For experienced players who aew going to solo a new account from lv 1 .....I will suggest a shortcut:

1.Do the tutorial.

2. Buy a lucky wheel membership ,a jockey club membership in casino. remember to visit the wheel every day.

3. Take the Flight missions, maximize the flying skill and get 200k for a high end apartment, buy the rh8.

4. Complete the bounty hunter mission (It give the golden hatchet with 30K)

5. Treasure Hunt for 250K( I am not sure if the event still available)

6. Collect all casino cards(There will be similar event in future weeks, do them as well) to get huge xp.

7.Open a new character in different gender.(This character mainly for lucky draw, u may use the daily objective to earn some money )

8. Buy a lucky wheel membership, remember to visit the wheel every day.

9.Complete the bounty mission, treasure Hunt and casino collective missions as mentioned. Buy him/her a high end apartment or a 10 slots garage.

10. The main character should be in 2x to 4x level , around 1M fund.

11. Read some videos or posts to learn the basic of jockey, spend some time on it. Even the probability of jockey seems changed, the reward still good, 200K to 400K per hr is possible. Finish the daily objective everyday.

12. Once the fund hit 1.8M. Buy a basic room in Casino(1.5M).

13. Finish the casino story in easiest level as host to get 0.95M reward(And the armor sport car), if u can't find buddy for the missions, focus Ms. baker missions and vip missions

14. Rise level with baker missions and vip missions(their cd are separated.) Buy buzzard when u have enough money.

15  Host the "apartment Heist" from Fleeco job to Pacific heist in lv 60(Unlock grenade Launcher),buy the heavy suit and watch the video in utube, prepare to carry ur whole team by ur own. Buy armor kuruma

16. Invest the Farmhouse Bunker

After this.....office, vehicle warehouse, mc and factory(except document factory), small warehouse(big 1 if u like) nightclub factory and hanger....

The game is now very friendly to new players.....if u not trying to buy all vehicles, cloths and items.
