Anyone else's game's animations start breaking once their game has been running long enough on their PC?

It occasionally happens to mine after being AFK for a considerably long amount of time, as I do tend to leave the game open for awhile.

(Because, Nightclub stock :yee:)

 

Restarting the game usually fixes most issues w/ animations and in-game functions.

Long known issue, just restart the game. It's worse if your session host is in this state though.

Wait, really? Never knew it to be a long-known issue, since doing searches online brought up absolutely no results. Also, I'm usually the session host since that usually takes place in solo sessions.

I used to play in closed community sessions and our usual host uptime never exceeded 72 hours without game starting to act weird. Lost animations, weird slow downs, missing invitations and issues with joining when someone is selling mc. Black screen while accessing interiors is often too.

So I guess this explains why we have a inactivity countdown timer even in Invite Only and even solo sessions.

 

What a mess of a game, LOL!

 

This is why I only go AFK in contact missions, less sh*t to go wrong and less probability of being disconnected, on top of no daily fees and no business raids.

^^ @Fun 2 has basically said that GTA Online's code is a house of cards, and in an attempt to keep the fragile code as intact as possible, R* keeps adding new code even when its purpose is completely redundant. Naturally, performance also tanks because of this "practice" of theirs.

 

IIRC, some of it also has to do with the fact that when Leslie Benzies was "let go"--and a bunch of his fellow developers left shortly afterwards (unhappy with R*)--a bunch of code that only they were familiar with was left untouched, since no-one else knew enough to touch it without breaking something in the process. One example is apparently the Armored Truck; it was having spawn issues, but no-one at R* could try to safely fix it, and it ended up getting removed when the Freemode Events Update dropped just over four years ago: September 15, 2015.

 

IMO, if its spawn issue had been correctable, it would have fit well with the new Freemode Events. I'm still hoping that happens, seeing as R* at least thought about it (and crate drops) back in March of last year:

The (empty) Armored Truck that now spawns at the casino is undoubtedly new code tacked on to a growing monstrosity of bugs and patches upon patches that cheaters (not just on the PC) are happy to dive into and capitalize on.

 

Though far more limited, glitches (godmode, teleports, off the radar, etc.) in R*'s code can at times be just as much of a headache on consoles as some of the malicious code running in the background on PCs.
