Grand Theft Auto: Love & other Dopey Feelings (Love & Dope)

 

Setting: Liberty city, Alderney, Carcer and Vice City circa 1986 to 1990 (same timeline as VC)

 

Synopsis/Chapter 1

 

Its 1986, coke and heroin fueled benders have spread themselves across the United States and South America, leaving behinds HIV deaths, gang wars and racial tensions at an all time high. Liberty City has just started coming out of the dark after its financial meltdown of 77'. Mayor Dwyke has been extremely successful in cleaning up city transit but has yet to pay attention to the abandoned ghettos of the city. Bohan still has a project or brownstone burnt down daily, due to landlords losing too much money to pay property taxes, while Broker's race wars only grow worse as West Indians and Jews fight over Croydon Gardens. Meanwhile in Northern Dukes, Russians and other soviets are slowing being pushed out of Ashfield, by an influx of Chinese and Korean immigration, due to fascism and dicatorship tearing apart their homelands. Hepburn Heights and Atlantic Quays have been abandoned for a good decade now and are slowly being turned into High end water front property, despite its only views you'll get will be of Alderneys rustic, industrial water front. You, just turning 21, have just witnessed your mothers crack addiction turn fatal, as she's killed your brother of a dispute over get her help, and now you're out of a place to stay. Now with your mother in jail, you're younger brother about to be buried and no place to go, you begin to look for your estranged father.

 

Chapter 2

 

Its the end of 87, HIV Aids and the Crack epidemic has now started turning enough heads for people to believe of even its existence. The Art and hip hop scene have taken great steps forward to help educate people, including a younger visionary Keith Haring creating a big "crack is wack" mural on a handball court East Holland. Computer and tech stocks are on the rise and Japan has seemed to invade the American market with everything from music to cars and electronics, and has in part helped clean up Star Junction. You are almost 23, you still have yet to find your estranged father, but in the meantime have made some new connections and rekindled some old ones. A close friend you haven't seen in years has invited you do business with him down in Vice City. Tom offers you a job to be a driver for some odd jobs around the city, good pay for no questions asked. You end up saving enough to buy a small condo in Raton Bayou. Tom offers you a job to be a driver for a sketchy sounding job, but you've known Tom forever so you don't think twice and go for the job. The job doesn't go as planned, and Tom leaves you for dead, so you find your way back to your condo, only to find it swarmed by police. They book you and charge you as an accomplice to the bank job gone south, but you take the fall for Tom, because even you aren't dumb enough to cross the Harwood Butcher.

 

Chapter 3 

 

June 88'

 due to a friendly stranger posting your bail, you are released, but now only have enough money for bus ticket out of Vice. You now flee back to Liberty City in hopes of an honest job. You eventually find work as a cleaner for city transit and save up enough to save for a small house in Ocean Park, Dukes. Things are going well, you've gotten a promoted up to superintendent of transit, so you move out to East Island, you even find love interest with girl you knew since high school. One day you get a phone call, from a strange person claiming to be your dad, so you go and investigate. The call leads you to Carcer city, eventually finding out that the man at the other end of the line, is in fact your father. He brings home to visit his kids and you start going down memory road. The story he spins all seems so sweet, but one thing still bugs you. How did your mother get turned into an addict, but you can't seem to find it you to ask. As you leave his place, a group of men appearing to be dressed as police officers ambush you, saying "to tell your little brother, hello" and shoot you multiple times. You crawl to your car best you can, but pass out due to blood loss, and end up in a coma for a month, in Carcer city.

 

Chapter 4

 

July 88'

 A month passes after getting ambushed, while visiting your father, the dots start to connect. Your gut feeling is telling you to go investigate on what might of happened, and if your mother was actually set up. In the meantime you get fired from your job and lose your house, due to your "extended" hospital visit. Back in Vice City, while working under Tom, you made some other connections including Alonzo. Alonzo runs a chop shop in Willis, and like Tom pays good money, for no questions asked as long as you bring him the vehicles he needs in decent condition. So you give Alonzo a ring, and he has a job for you, hes looking for a Brand New Dinka Hakumai, straight from the dealership lot. You're kind of hesitant but you need the money. You take the job and for once things go smooth, and looking up, so up for a matter of fact, you're able to buy a nice brownstone in Croydon Heights. 

 

Chapter 5

 

Spring 89'

 Things start slowing down, and Alonzo eventually closes up shop due to building pressure from the Triads. So you go looking for money again, but being so used to the fast life, you look for the next best thing. Crack. So you start selling in Croydon Heights and eventually become the neighborhood supplier, and completely forget about your mother, until the strangest thing stops you in your tracks. You pass out one day while selling, and lucky enough someone calls you an ambulance and not the police unaware you're a dealer. At the hospital, the doctors check your vitals and everything checks out, so you're released and back to slinging the next day. Lately you been starting to lose sleep and are always awakened by either your Mothers face, asking you why and begging you to stop. Other nights its a replay of the night you got ambushed in Carcer and other nights its of your younger brothers face, blaming you for his death. Still you soldier on, until one day, your next customer ends up being your mom. But she's not here to buy, shes says been looking for you, and heard you were slinging dope in Croydon Heights. Not sure whether or not you believe her, you take her home and try make sense of everything. Apparently Tom started your moms addiction, and eventually your brother realized this and tried not getting in the way but still trying to sober up your mom. One day Tom finds this out and tries bribing your mom with a years supply, if she silences your brother. She didn't do it, she always had you and your brothers best interests at heart and could never sell either of you out. One night she was resting on the couch at home coming down from a high, your brother sleeping on the couch in the next room, Tom came to pay a visit. She begged and pleaded but Tom didn't care and took your little brother. 

 

Chapter 6

 

Autumn 89'

Filled with so much anger and hate, you pack your bags and fly out back to Vice City. You give Alonzo a ring to see if he can help you stay low profile, and he sets you up in a small place off vinewood beach. Something still bothers you though, what connection did your mother and Tom have, and thats when it hit you. Your dad, worked with Tom when you were younger. You don't remember much of your dad, just what your mom told you when you asked, if she was older enough to tell you. Apparently he used to beat you and your younger brother so your mom left him, and to you and your brother with him.

 

Chapter 7

 

January 90'

Now with Tom out of the picture, its now time for you father to get his. So once again you pack up for trip up. One night just as you're just about finished packing you get a call from Alonzo, who you hadn't heard from since dealt with tom. He says its urgent and needs you to meet him in Industry park, Alderney. When you arrive you find Alonzo in a warehouse bleeding out, you trying wrapping his wounds up be he says its not good. He said its a trap, he said his dad came to try give him money for taking you out or your location but he refused. But eventually the pressure was too much for Alonzo, so he called you out here. Now the warehouse you thought was abandoned is illuminated by gun shots and car lights. You find a piece on Alonzo and start firing back, hoping one of the goons turns out being your father. But none of them are, and then you hear shot from a rifle, and check yourself, your safe. You look turn around to see your dad drop to the floor, a hole in his head, behind him your mother guns in hand, she puts its down, grabs you close and apologizes.

 

Epilogue 

 

Summer 90'

 

You eventually find a new clean job, get your mom into rehab, and one day at work you pass out again. You're rushed to hospital and find out you have aids and only have the til the end of the year to live.

Calvin Broadhurst aka you:

- Born right after the famous Global Jamboree in 64', he grew up in Bridgestone, South Bohan, and dropped out of high school, but never got into any real trouble. He had dreams of playing for the Liberty Penetrators, but he had to help support the family buy working odd jobs, due to his moms addiction.

Alonzo Melendesta

- Originally a member of the Uptown riders and Former henchman for Tommy Vercetti during his take over of Vice City in 86'. After a failed bando raid, Alonzo parted ways with Tommy and moved to back to Liberty City. He eventually sets up a chop shop in Willis, Duke where he later employees Calvin and helps him get revenge on Tommy and Calvins father.

Duke Broadhurst

 

- Calvin's father, a oil rig worker that worked out of Industry City, until he got hooked on selling dope and killed his younger son William. Born In Croydon Heights, Broker, one of hardest neighborhoods in the city, he grew up hanging with the wrong people but eventually got a proper job after graduating high school, where he meet his wife Anne Marie.
