I'd be looking forward to it more if it wasn't inevitable that half this stuff will be locked from Xbox for however many months.

 

Other than that, it sounds mostly good. Still need Rockstar editor, invite sessions, etc.

 

I don't know if I like the sound of huge changes to combat. Any change can end up being bad. A huge change - you get the idea. Ideally, I wouldn't mind seeing more counters to PIB. My concern is that's not happening though, and that they might just dumb the gameplay down.

I wanna know how the story continues with miss LeClerck after shooting Amos in Blackwater. And how this is connected with the marshall and the robbing army dude...

It will be interesting to see whether more cards are added. 

 

I'm not a big fan of them as they are now, but if cards that don't revolve around combat are added, that give perks like the talismans do in SP, I think that would be a step in the right direction.

Need more Revolver references and stuff too. Maybe put some old characters in for small appearances. Could work for more random encounters? Hiding grizzly somewhere in the woods could scare people.

Well, while I am totally going to play all 3 roles, I am going to focus on the Collector.

Secondary is going to be the trader and the Bounty Hunter somewhere down the line.

 

I really want the weapon locker to get rid of some of the clutter in my weapon wheel.

I also want a dog(I hope we can choose the breed). I would prefer a cat... But, I feel that they would not serve that well as a Guard.

But the Horse Lantern and Metal Detector sounds like fun. Unless the Lantern is just a lantern on the horse then... What is the point of that? To make you an easier target at night?

Maybe the Lantern has some more functionality, maybe it makes metal glint from a distance and then you have to use your metal detector when you get close? Just a theory though.

 

Anyway, I really hope satchels and bandoliers are a thing in the update aswell!

The art shows it, so I am hopeful!

I'd gladly take the Rancher role; there's something appealing about having your own plot of land, animals, and maybe even the ability to plant and grow your own herbs and the like. A nice place near Rhodes would be great or further north near Annesburg if they add a butcher up there or at least some way to sell our pelts and parts.

 

I'm still hoping for the Explorer role; where it should allow us to cross into the unlabelled parts of the map and explore those regions! Every time I look out over the water, it still just irks me how we aren't allowed to go there; especially Mexico.

The potential issue with a rancher role is where are these ranches gonna be placed, there is room for some but there isn't room for a lot of them, so it'd have to be a lot of people having ranches in the same spot and utilising phasing/instancing I guess. It's not like GTAO where you can stack a full lobby into a single building, or how there's a hundred good location options for a warehouse, club, w/e. Map expansions for some of the highly requested ideas maybe necessary IMO.

how does houses work in GTAO when players in the same session own them? It could work like that...

Or they could use the space out of the map bounds to instantiate a farm, the space to walk would be limited to the farm area, but could work...

In GTAO it's instanced. And in RDO, it will also definitely be instanced.

GTAO is instanced but the issue I'm talking about with RDO is that in GTAO there's dozens of housing locations, each new business has 8? spots on the map, totalling like what must be now 30-40 locations now for all the businesses they've added, but they could easily fit in more cause there's still an abundance of warehouses, unused buildings and parts of the city/desert, etc. GTA's modern day urban nature lends it self well to owning houses, businesses and the like. 

 

RDO however doesn't lend its self as nearly as well, say for ranches they need a decent sized of flat land and while there are spots where they could use there's not a ton of them unless they litter the map with ranches. Basically, imagine everyones home and businesses in GTAO being in the same 5-6 spots in the entire map, stepping outside would be a bit... chaotic.

I'd love to build one up too, Rhodes is just the place for me. I'd love it if they do like the casino and add decorations and let us craft some too even. So much they could add here after seeing the dynamic events in story mode like the rail track being built up and such.

 

Although, when we've got a pen full if sheep and a daily objective pops up 'skin 5 sheep' we'll have to be on the lookout. 🤣

RDO will take its lead from GTAO. Where there will be items and characters that are online exclusive and have no continuity with the SP world and storyline.

 

Example: Bunkers.

What about add some blue circle on the entrance of the ranch so each player loads their ranch with their customization.  And if you go/are outside the ranch looks like story mode.

Yea that's not the issue, Rockstar can handle people owning the same ranch in the same location the issue is that the amount of locations might be very limited. So for example if there was a full 32 player lobby and every one in it owned a ranch all 32 players might have to use the same 3-4 ranch locations which would be weeeeeeeeeeeird and potentially madness if people grief the entrances of them or something.

They can make people spawn at various locations around the ranch if there are many people using the same locations. Either that, or the entrance/spawn point can be a neutral zone of some kind. Entrance and exit don't necessarily have to be the same location.

Looks like R* finally started pulling over features they have in GTO like the Weapons Locker.  We can finally trim down the number of unused weapons!  The roles sound like the same template as GTO's Motorcycle Club, CEO, and such.  So maybe they'll eventually be GTO's Nightclub job adjusted to be the "Saloon Owner" for adding gambling tables, haircutting, food choices, bed choices to some used buildings, like the  blocked off Saloon of Annesburg or Strawberry.

 

I'm happy to see dogs finally added!  Even if it's restricted to camp for some technical reasons, I'm sure they'll expand it into the open world later.

 

 

 

Here was another idea about which touches on more options to horses...  expanding them like GTO's vehicle options.

Ranches in the world owned by players are a no go for now.

 

There are two fixes which are, in my opinion, the only viable options:

1. Scale increase, so a lot more ranches can be added on the soil of the gameworld

2. Off map ranches, using paths which lead out of the map as entrances.

 

The latter actually makes the most sense, since it could potentionally add infinite ranches, gives players their own open place without breaking immersion, and players which bought the same location could have a very different ranch layout.

 

Anyway, that is it with ranches...

 

I am looking forward to the three roles, but I wonder how those hunting carts will work. Will you be able to ride them yourself, or are they being delivered via a whistle? I hopr the first, but I know Rockstargames... 😶🙄

I know a lot of people have wanted free aim since launch and I think this might be the start of it. Keep in mind how awful free aim would’ve been at launch with the strafe speed in first person combined with clunky controller aim. It worked in GTA because of automatic weapons, it doesn’t work on Red Dead unless you’re shooting slow strafing predictable NPCS. Hopefully this change turns the game into a traditional third-person/first-person shooter

I'd imagine there won't be ranches you can own; but there may be ranches you can work on via stranger missions etc.

 

Herd cattle, clean barns and the like.

 

Although never say never. I couldn't have imagined Bunkers/Doomsday Heist would come to GTAO.

There are no kids in the majority of games, especially those with a maturing rating.

 

People also never age and stuff and the like.

 

Fiction is best when you don't focus on how unreal everything is. Like how bullets don't kill you...but a nasty cough does  :s

Without kids, who does any work? All the adults are in saloons or hanging out in the streets. Need a work force.

 

The thing is, everyone wants things pretty realistic for their "immersion" reasons. Look at many suggestions for future updates and you'll see that.
