The Summer holiday for teenagers in the north [who make up a big portion of their playerbase] has ended, and the Winter holidays here have ended as well. All the kids are back in school, and most adults no longer have any work/bank holidays on the near horizon to be able to play. They’re only hurting themselves pushing the date back so far.

if my memory serves me correctly, and I may be wrong, they only  posted this in the august 2nd newswire didn't they?

all the may newswire stated as far as I can remember was "starting this summer", which is in all honesty, still correct, regardless of who's back at school/work.

also, seeing as the game isn't targeted at school kids to begin with, I don't think them basing the release dates around their timetable is the right thing to do anyway.

Summer update was first announced in May and then they revealed more about it a month ago.  So they did give us more info as they stated.  Four weeks without any info except “coming soon” is disappointing nonetheless but a summer update is just that: a summer update.  Again, that could be today, the 10th or 17th.

Sometimes they just don't need defending, they're a big grown up company and can take some heat. Might motivate them knowing potential paying customers are getting frustrated with the cloak and dagger approach. Plus, it feels good to bitch, lol.

RDR2 UE is 55% off in PSN store. Can't remember GTAV got a decent discount in it's first year. It didn't need sales to be promoted at all. Apparently, RDR2 does as this is the so manieth sale on this game. Priority is probably not too high...
