The controls for this are f*cking ass

I recommend using a controller since its easier and not confusing. Meanwhile, your brain can be caught on fire on keyboard controls, making it confusing which key next to press. I had this problem months ago, but I tried it with an Xbox One S controller. It worked pretty well.

HINTS: Learning to fly

All the missions can be completed.

Flying.

1. Go to the Los Santos Airport.

2. Jump to the Guard House Roof, the gate will open from the inside if you do not park too close to it.

3. Steal the Shamel (Jet) at the far end.  (Fly it for 13± minutes,  OR the Dodo for 25± minutes to get a "Gate Pass". The game calls it a "Pilot's License" it not, you must still do the "Learning to Fly" later to proceed in the game.

4. Practice flying with either or both of these aircraft.

A. do not use the Rudder for turning (except on the taxing until you have some skill) TURN by banking, this is the key to circling the airfield in the tests.

B. Keep the throttle engage during most of the flight.

C. For the most part let the Plane fly itself.

D. Make flight corrections by just tapping the controls lightly and only when necessary. Let the plane fly itself.

E. By keeping the Throttle engaged the plane will have a tendency to climb naturally.

F. When landing do Not forget to lower the landing gear.

G. Use the "reverse" key to force slowing of  the plane.

H. Letting go of the throttle key will also allow the plane to drop naturally.

 

 

(Aircraft) FLYING BY KEYBOARD;

DEFAULT Controls:

Enter – Enter/Leave Vehicle -- (pick-up burglary items)

Arrows Right/Left. Bank Right/Left.

Arrows Up/Down Climb/Dive

A or D Bank Left or Right

W increase throttle (When held also allows plane to climb naturally).

S decrease throttle

E turn Rudder Right (also Taxi right)

Q turn Rudder Left. (also Taxi left)

NumPad + raises/lowers Landing Gear.

NumPad 0 or Left Ctrl fire Main Rockets.

Space Bar = Lock on Target.

HUNTER Left Ctrl or NumPad 0 fires Machine Guns.

HUNTER Right Ctrl fires Rockets.

HYDRA Left Alt or Right Ctrl – Launch Defensive Measures.

HYDRA: NumPad 8 sets thrusters for Forward Flight (hold key until image jiggles.)

HYDRA NumPad 2 sets thrusters for Hover Flight (hold key until image jiggles.)

OTHER Aircraft: NumPad 2 Look Down

OTHER Aircraft: NumPad 4 Look Left.

OTHER Aircraft: NumPad 8 Look Down

OTHER Aircraft: NumPad 6 Look Right.

VIEWS: - V cycles through Long, Short, Personal, and Panoramic Views.

 

If you don’t hold a key the Aircraft will/may maintain normal level flight.

Don’t over control, do use light taps until you get comfortable.
