I'm Alex, and I'm a 3D artist I love the GTA 2 aesthetic and I've had this idea to recreate every GTA 2 car in 3D for a good 6 years or so and started with the first attempts back in 2013. I've come a long way since then so the stuff you'll see here is the latest work I've done. A great exercise in vehicle design as well as patience, I hope to do as many of these as possible as well as sharing work in progress sketches/renders. I'm using the sprites as a rough guide rather than trying to be very accurate, as there really isn't too much information in them other than some basic shapes. My interpretations of the cars will no doubt differ from what people may have imagined. Hope you enjoy taking a look, a link to more renders of the cars can be found under every image. The beefy style fits into the retro-futuristic atmosphere of GTA2. Thank you much appreciated I started fiddling with the Ztype ages ago but I took a couple of hours to change the old design that I had and here's the result. Mostly the design is final save for some missing details which I will add when I start rebuilding all the surfaces. Your models look very true to the original gta2 styling while being far more detailed as if rockstar were making the game today. I made a high quality z type model years ago but I went for a older classic car style rather than the retro future look I think rockstar was going for. I would kill to see all the original models they made for the game but I imagine they're all locked up in some forgotten vault or they've been lost entirely. Keep up the good work bro Much appreciated sir I would love the see the rest of the GTA 2 models though I have a feeling that in the end the cars weren't actually 3d models just based on the fact that we have the Ray Larabie sprites and a lot of the cars looks quite similar. The limitation of the top down perspective in GTA 2 meant that the gang cars needed to have their respective logos/marks on the roof, but realistically you wouldn't really see that in real life. I haven't unwrapped the car yet so I will play around with the idea of the Z on the roof, depending on how it looks I was thinking of doing something along the side of the car instead. I know its not 100% 'canon' but that's not what I'm going for PS : Also wherever the Z ends up its going to be more of a gold colour rather than the sickly yellow on the sprite.
