An Alternative GTA IV Storyline

Recommended Posts

Hitler5e6

As the story begins, things progress with normal pacing. Niko meets Little Jacob first and exchanges several missions with the Faustin Russian Mafia. However, the turning point of the story is the death of Dimitri instead of Faustin. In the early stages of the game it's quite obvious that Faustin and Dimitri had a broken criminal partnership. What once was the rise of a criminal brotherhood would end in a tragedy. But who would face their demise? In this alternative scenario, the calculating and intelligent Rascalov would be over powered by his neurotic, rough n' tough, and socially backward opponent Mikhail Faustin. The execution of Rascalov would be relatively "simple" in apperance. Niko is called by Faustin who suspects Dimitri to be planning a betrayel on Niko Bellic and Faustin. This could have been found out in any way by Faustin somehow gaining inside knowledge that Dimitri had been negotiating with Petrovic and Bulgarian, or that Faustin would simply suspect something and go with his impulsive instinct of killing anyone who attempts to cross his path. After informing Niko, Faustin would instruct Niko at personally confronting Dimitri at the docks who's waiting for him via message. Niko would at first be slightly hesitant to kill Dimitri Rascalov, considering his sly intellect and awkward charm which Niko views as potentially valuable in seeking out who he wants. Regardless, Niko also trusts Faustin that Dimitri was planning on overthrowing Faustin and in the process ridding of Niko as an undesirable side effect. As Niko confronts Rascalov, a back and forth exchange between the two would end in Niko pulling out a firearm and Dimitri fleeing on foot to his DF8-90 car. After Niko kills too of Dimitris thug goons at the docks, he would proceed in a deadly car chase with Dimitri, who would crash near the docks at Francis International Airport. After Dimitris crash, he would attempt to escape on foot. Here Niko would be met with rapid gunfire by ten or so goons who appear to be of a much larger mafioso then Niko expected. After Niko fatefully battles through hordes of gunmen, he reaches the docks and executes Dimitri. Dimitri, in a similar fashion to Vlad, rants on about how if Niko kills Dimitri Faustin will likely kill him or get Niko and the entire mafia taken into the courts or dissolved by the much larger Petrovic Russian Mafia. Regardless of this speech, Niko executes Rascalov as he falls into the beach never to be seen again. After these series of events, Niko would inform Faustin of Rascalovs death. Faustin then appears to be very pleased by Nikos honor.

PART 2:

In the second stage of the story, Rascalovs death slowly transitions into the second half of the story. If Roman's cab depot and the apartment were never burnt down, would he still make contact with the numerous criminals in Broker and Bohan? Yes, and there are reasons as to why this is. Niko had already been making numerous connections with Mallorie, who would by now inform Niko of new opportunities in the criminal underworld. Niko would end up doing a cab fair for Mallorie and Manny in the beginning of the second half, which would allow for Niko to start out doing numerous work activities for the Bohan gangs. Through manny and mallorie, Niko would make contact with Elizabeta Torres, Patrick Mcreary, and Playboy X. The major difference between this part od the main campaign is the pacing of these mission chapters and the fact that Niko is still working for the Faustin Russian Mafia. Niko continues to get caught up in the heroin trade with Johnny Klebitz and Elizabeta Torres. He gets caught by the FIB and the IAA as the story goes after the heroin bust. However, the major difference is how the story unfolds from here. After Niko killed Rascalov, things only got worse for Mikhail Faustin and also the conditions which would set Niko in even worse circumstances then in any campaign possibility. Faustin's unhinged behavior would only get worse and worse in the second half of the campaign. He would continuously demand of Niko to carry out lengthy and increasingly dangerous execution missions against the Petrovic Mob. It's clear by now that the already large Petrovic mob has merged with the remaining loyal Rascalov forces and the new Bulgarian Mafia which has taken an interest in crime operations throughout the city. Since Faustin's activities were becoming increasingly detrimental and unstable, it's clear that Niko would have no problem with putting him down. After performing the Heroin deal gone wrong for Elizabeta Torres, Niko is informed that Michelle is an IAA member. However, when Niko first meets the IAA's UL Paper, he instead insists that Niko execute a hit against Mikhail Faustin. Niko is informed that Mikhail has been under the FIB and IAA radar for some time due to multiple drug deals and outrageous criminal antics in the Hove Beach and surrounding Broker areas. Niko Bellic is then tasked with ambushing Faustin at the Perestroika club. UL Paper informs Niko that the IAA has distracted a majority of Faustin's mob potential, allowing for Niko to swiftfully execute Faustin without much trouble. Niko enters Perestrokia and gives the speech about Faustin's activities being detrimental to his own crime business and those he has known dearly like Dimitri Rascalov. After Faustin flees on foot from perestrokia and Niko battles through his muscle, he reaches Faustin to the roof top, performing a standard execution on his former mob boss and ally. Niko informs the IAA of Faustin's death, which the UL paper contact states will be covered up as just a mere rival gang hit by the long lasting russian mob enemy Kenny Petrovic. One day after Faustin's death, Niko is then informed that Roman has been kidnapped by Mallorie. Niko is then texted by an unknown contact Roman tired up wit ha shotgun aimed at him like in the Canon timeline. Niko is then called by the Unknown Contact. This Contact reveals itself to be a made man for the Petrovic crime syndicate operating in Hove Beach and around the city. Niko then angrily gives a speech on killing everyone responsible for this and hangs up. Niko this time, with the assistance of Jacob, finds the warehouse and battles through a much larger amount of goons to eventually find Roman being taken hostage. The man holding Roman at gunpoint, presumably the Unknown Contact, demands of Niko to run errands for the Petrovic mafia in order to sustain his own life and his cousins. However, Niko kills the man and liberates Roman. After Jacob, Niko, and Roman escape, four Mavericks chase Niko down. When niko properly escapes, he learns from Roman that Roman was gambling at their personal club. As a result of these events, two days later the cab depot and apartment are all burnt down. These events have occurred presumably by the Petrovic Mafia, which has submerged with three other Russian mobs controlling the city.

Part 3:

In the third half of the story, Niko now has a burnt down apartment and is on the run. Mallorie agrees to give Niko a place in Bohan, as well as the IAA which agree to establish a safehouse in Algonquin for Niko to use undercover. Niko partially blames the IAA for putting the heat on his back. However, the IAA informs Niko that he will be safe placed where he is. 5 days after the transpiring events, Roman informs Niko he collected the insurance on the burnt down cab depot and bought a new apartment and depot. This apartment is the one you get in Canon as well. The IAA safehouse is also particularly prestigious, more so then the apartment bought by Roman. As the third act of the story rushes in, Niko performs the bank heist with Packie, offisically making him part of the rich algonquin lifestyle. He meets Ray the contact with the Pegorino Crime Syndicate operating in Alderney. In addition to this, you also learn that the Irish Mob has developed a recent connection by the now very powerful Petrovic Mafia, which has assumed control over all activities in the irish Mob. Niko, by simple word of mouth, is then found out to be an associate of Patrick Mcreary. As a result of this, Petrovic then calls Niko as an "unknown contact" informing him that he knows exactly where Niko and Roman live, despite being under government protective order. He states he is not afraid to use force if necessary. Niko then agrees to carry out numerous errands for Petrovic in exchange for money and "not looking out for him. " As a result, Niko becomes a partial hitman for the Petrovic Mafia, and later the Pegorinos. Later in the game, Niko recieves another call from Bulgarin. Bulgarin reveals himself as Bulgarin, demanding Niko work with additional activities he supplies to pay off "past debts." Niko, reluctant at first, realizes the gravity of the situation, and agrees. For awhile, Niko continues to work for the Irish, Pegorino, and mostly the Bulgarin families searching for the diamonds to exchange part of the cut. However, they end up lost as is in the original Canon storyline. In this half of the storyline, the IAA informs Niko, alongside Graveli, that they have caught Darko Brevic. However, they agree to remain silent unless Niko executes crime boss Pegorino for his Alderny activites being a "distraction" for italian organized crime. Niko then exeuctes both Ray in a similar fashion to Canon, and Pegorino in a similar fashion. With the death of the Pegorino Crime Family, Niko now coninues to work for Bulgarin, Graveli, and performs partial missions with Petrovic. After Darkos death, Niko and Roman both prepare for the wedding. In one last blow of Niko's career as a criminal. Bulgarian urges him at a popular Algonquin nightclub to go forward with a Heroin deal, reminding Niko he still has him caught. Niko can perform two actions. He canenter the PLatypus and kill Petrovic for himself (which is much harder. Or, he could work for Bulgarin and proceed in the deal with the Ancelotti buyers. If he chooses the deal, Bulgarins crime family alongside the Petrovic's succeed in gaining control of over fifty percent of the older rackets controlled by the italian mafia. At the end of the wedding. Niko is then confronted by a hitman who mumbles "A gift from Kenny Petrovic" and kills Roman. As a result, Niko hunts Petrovic down on the now moving Platypus with a helicopter. Niko and Jacob then both fight through a storm of hailing bullets and gunfire to see Kenny betraying Bulgarian and running off with all the Heroin money. Kenny escapes on boat alongside you as it sinks. After it sinks, the shockwave ends up crashing both boats on happiness island, leading to kenny's dramatic death and the end of Russian organized crime in Liberty City. In the Revenge ending, Niko proceeds to fight through the same hailing bullets and gunfire, killing Kenny Petrovic. At the wedding, a group of bulgarins goons confront Niko in person, attempting to massacre the entire wedding. Niko is able to use the assistance of packie and jacob to stop hordes and hordes of Russian gangsters storming the wedding. Kate is later found to be shot dead as a result. Niko in anger kills all the remaining goons that confronted him at the wedding. Niko and Packie as a result, all team up with Jacob to locate Bulgarian and kill him. Jacob informs Niko that bulgarian is attempting to flee the city with the heroin money, possibly fearing Niko and desiring to move back to the Adriatic with his new found fortune. Niko and Patrick then trace him down at Francis International Airport. On their way, Jacob assists them in  stop several of Bulgarians goons from tracking Niko down. Patrick and Niko proceed to kill Tumer. Niko informs packie he must execute bulgarian alone, so packie leaves. Niko enters the plane and proceeds to kill bulgarin, with the plane exloding. Niko then jumps off the plan with a parachute, revealing the final prize you get at the end of the game. The end.

The campaign stays the same in my idea up till the part where you kill Faustin in Canon. It's the other way around in this case.

I really like the idea, I always like alternative stories and ideas on how stories can unfold. The only stuff that may not exactly work out imo are these:

-The Irish being allied with the Petrović Mob. iirc in the original story they aren't friends at all (according to the MP campaign) but seeing as it's your rewrite, it's okay.

-Niko working with Bulgarin again. I don't think that psycho would let a guy who "betrayed" him work for him again, he'd just kill him here and there.

But it was a very nice read, makes you think of how the story would have been like if Niko killed Rascalov in the beginning. What I especially liked was Petrović being a primary antagonist, I always felt like him being left alive was a mistake that could've been redeemed. Guess Rockstar wanted to keep him for the MP mode, kinda like Madrazo in V/Online.

Thanks for the opinions, I appreciate it. Another alternative event I thought of was Faustin betraying Niko similar to how Dimitri did. However, I feel Faustn wasn't powerful enough to take on Niko alone, Niko would have to slay him very early on.
