WACKADOODLEDOO
New Showdown Series Concept by WACKADOODLEDOO While murder is not an uncommon occurrence in the American West, slaying in cold blood is still considered to be a more heinous crime than most. Someone amongst your company is a coldblooded murderer. As the Murderer, your goal is to kill everyone and leave no witnesses to your carnage. The Pinkerton has a duty to hunt down this butcher and kill them before they are able to escape with their crimes. The rest of you must survive. 5-12 Players Here is a soundtrack that could go well with this Showdown Series.Listen while you read to put you in the mood! The Players: Your goal is to survive the Murderers onslaught. Run, hide, and do whatever you can to outlive the murderer and aid in ensuring their demise. Your weapons have been replaced with ‘accusations,’ one for each player in the match, which you can use to help the Pinkerton find the murderer. Without weapons you must rely only on your lantern for light, your wits, and your fists which may be more useful for escaping dangerous situations rather than actually damaging the murderer, as your energy is drained from exhaustion. You are dependent on the Pinkerton to slay this villain in order to survive. The Pinkerton is searching for the Murderer, though their resources are somewhat limited. The Pinkerton is given a rusted pistol with a single bullet and slow reloads, so every bullet must count. The Pinkerton detective is also given Eagle Eye powers, which can allow them to follow blood trails from murder scenes and may aid in helping narrow down who the murderer truly is. Lastly, the Pinkerton is given a rope to hogtie players, but only one player can be hogtied at a time. Decisions, decisions, and a bad one might be your last. As the Murderer, your goal is to kill all other players to win the round. The murderer is hidden amongst the bystanders, but they carry with them a handheld weapon and a mask, which they can use to conceal their player name when committing their attacks. While Bystanders can grapple the Murderer, they are not strong enough to overpower them, and so the only real way to stop them is by a bullet from the Pinkerton. We can only hope that they solve the mystery before it’s too late. 1. If the Murderer kills all other players, they win. 2. If the Pinkerton kills the Murderer, the Bystanders and the Pinkerton wins. 3. If nobody kills the Murderer before the timer is up, the Murderer Wins. 4. If the Bystanders manage to kill the Murderer, the Pinkerton and the Bystanders win. At the start of the match, the players are given thirty (30) seconds to run and hide. This can allow for time for the players to figure out their roles and come up with strategies that will be used to win. Player Blips are hidden unless they stop moving for too long (just like in Make It Count). If the Pinkerton kills an Innocent Bystander, they lose their badge and become a Bystander also. The gun is dropped on the floor, and can be picked up by any other Bystander, but must be reloaded before using after a cooldown period. Whoever holds the gun becomes the new Pinkerton, and the only player who cannot be the Pinkerton is the Murderer. Bystanders can fist fight each other, the Murderer, and the Pinkerton, but their energy is low and they can be easily overpowered. They are not allowed to use items to restore energy. This means that if the Bystanders team up there is a good chance they can overpower the Murderer, but this more often than not will end poorly. The players who are hogtied by the Pinkerton can free themselves, and once they do, the Pinkerton will be able to use their lasso again. The Pinkerton can only hogtie one player at a time. Players can use mics to speak to one another, but as soon as a player is killed, their mic is cut off. Most of these maps would be played at night with storms for added effect. Streets of Saint Denis Braithwaite Manor and Grounds Tumbleweed (Inside and around Mansion) Colter (During Snowstorm) Lakay This game is based on survival, instinct, teamwork, and cunning. Only the keenest of crime solvers, or the most devious of villains, can hope to come out of this mystery alive. Thank you for reading through my concept, I hope you enjoyed, and look forward to doing more in the near future. In the meantime, stay safe, stay civil, and of course, stay alive. WACKADOODLEDOO
Imagine this scenario: You are running through the woods of Lakay, desperate calling out to your fellow Bystanders. No one responds. The icon for the Pinkertons gun flashes on the minimap. You b-line for it, realizing it’s across a deep area of swamp water. You start wading through it, desperately, clicking all you can to get across as fast as possible. You look behind you from the shore you just jumped off from, and a masked player covered in blood is watching you and your desperate attempt to slosh through the mire. He jumps in. Good luck. -LN- and Danelaw

-LN-
One thing is for certain: Rockstar has hired the wrong people. You should be given a job there! Seriously, this sounds 100x better than anything they've ever come up with! Nicely done! ☺
AStiffBreeze
I love the concept, although a few things that occur to me: Party Chats defeat it unfortunately. Maybe if no player names were ever shown, and every player looked different for everyone. So someone could yell out in party chat that it was the dude with the red jacket, but it wouldn't matter because other people would see that player differently anyway (some might see them in a blue jacket, as a woman, etc.). So if the murdered kills someone, they get covered in blood? Wouldn't that make it obvious to everyone who the murderer is after they kill their first player? It seems like the murderer could just do nothing to win. If all they need to win is to have the timer run down, and there's no way to identify them if they don't kill or attack anyone, all they need to do is chill out for the match and they win. If the randomly chosen Pinkerton is bad, you're probably going to lose and there's nothing you can do about it. That's not so fun unfortunately. If the murderer is able to take out the Pinkerton, it seems like they could easily camp the pistol and wait for the timer to run out.
Slonitram
Trouble in Terrorist Town but in RDR2, hm? Does that make it Trouble in Cowboy Town? WACKADOODLEDOO

To answer your questions, Party Chat is something that cannot be disabled, although you could do two work arounds for it. Much like in Poker you could disable party chat, but that somewhat defeats the purpose. I think, much like in 'Make It Count' party chat should still be enabled, and sure, some people may use this to cheese the game, but at the same time, it enhances the fun of playing with friends. For the narrative I wrote in the follow-up post above I claimed 'covered in blood' but this was simply for dramatic effect. The 'blood' would only by visible with Eagle Eye for the Pinkerton. He can see a trail from the body in the direction the Murderer ran, and may see blood on him for a short amount of time after killing. The Murderer can speed up the removal of the blood by swimming and washing the blood off sooner. If the Murderer would rather bide their time and survive by staying hidden that is a viable strategy to get away with their crime. There are lots of ways that either side can win! In any game, you will be paired with good and bad players. A bad Slasher in the Slasher mode on GTA:O will be less entertaining then a skilled one. The rounds of the showdown rotate the players so that will create some variety in gameplay. Everyone wants to play the Slasher at least once in GTA:O, I don't think its fair to rob players of the opportunity to be the Pinkerton or Murderer simply because of their skill level. Camping the pistol is also something the Murderer could do, but with proper coordination, the bystanders can work together to get the pistol back and use it against the Murderer. Its part of the risk-all of winning for the bystanders to try by all means to get that pistol should the Pinkerton be slain. Hope this helps! Edited August 1, 2019 by WACKADOODLEDOO Spelling. ghostsoap01
Isn't this verbatim Garry's Mod: Murder? That said, yeah it would be awesome in rdo. I used to enjoy that so much with a few buddies back around 2012, good times!

But most game types share similarities to others. I hope that this will be a building board for a interesting idea that could be expanded upon with a Rockstar twist! GTK0HLK
tbh.., it could help have a mix of many game types.., and games of the same branch.., but they will be of different veins.., kinda skipped to the end.., if more or different roles emerged(in side game options like similar games) Will there be different win conditions.., for different groups.., and or hidden weapons..,
aaron2997
I was just thinking about some slasher type game mode for rdo. But this actually sounds way cooler.
