Ah, didn’t know that about the locker another excellent use for it, I’ll try that when I’m on later.

I meant the lockbox, not the gunlocker, although they might have the same effect. Btw, while peering into the lockbox, you are also immune to attacks with the white flag up. So, you can go afg safely. Your cores do drain, though.

During the beta phase and the couple months after, I spent all my time grinding xp and money to rank up as quickly as I can to unlock everything. I'd switch off farming stranger missions and showdowns for xp and hunting for money, but got very burnt out once I reached level 50 and took a hiatus from the game until a week before this update.

Now I feel like I can finally take a step back and relax and enjoy the game and dive more into the immersion of the game. Money and xp come so much easier now with the roles that I haven't felt the need to really grind for either one. I spend my time exploring the map and playing as a traveler/wanderer and it makes the game so much more enjoyable than before

Before the update I was usually playing Free Roam and A Land of Opportunity missions with the occasional random event. Since the update I've only played Free Roam/ALoO missions when they're a daily objective. I've gone from ~250GB/$5K before the update to 300GB+/$10K+ and it hasn't once felt "grindy" compared to before.

I've spent the majority of my time in RDO since launch not even bothering to pitch camp but now that it's worthwhile, having a mobile home base and money making machine has opened up the world for me. Pre-update I would make the rounds of an area's free roam missions and hunt/fish with the butcher in mind during the timers. I sorta naturally ended to gravitate toward areas with a butcher handy and negelected regions like Roanoke Ridge, northern Ambarino or central New Austin. Now it feels economically viable to set up camp almost anywhere and toot around the region doing missions or bounties, hunting and collecting at the same time, running into locations and events I haven't seen before.

Non Funkable Token

Before FP I barely used fast travel. Now pretty much everyday I use it a few times to gather specific collectibles or have a quick resupply at the camp.

I used to hunt and make about $500-1000 depending on available time. Now I do collections and make $2-2.5K a day. Will do this until I get my 21 day streak and will lay off for awhile and focus on daily challenges for gold.

With the addition of the weapons locker, and the Rolling Block being the ultimate hunting weapon, I have decided to severely limit my arsenal.

I am down to having 1 Cattleman revolver(PvE), 1 Sawed Off shotgun)Anti-Griefer), Rolling Block Rifle(PvE + Hunting), the bow(Hunting + Anti Griefer) and the varmint rifle(Hunting and for egg nests) on my saddle.

I am also only eating canned food and stew and drinking alcohol for dead eye(I really wish they had some non-alcoholic beverages). So I am selling all of my meats and using the money from that to buy food and alcohol.

Just to try something different.

So far I am enjoying it, having to rely on the Cattleman as the primary weapon in gunfights makes things very interesting.

Why didn’t you use fast travel? Exploring or you just stayed in one area?

Sometimes exploring, sometimes I just changed lobbies to get to the other side of the map.

Doesn’t it take longer to load a new lobby than to fast travel? Unless it’s about not spending $

Before the update, I spent countless hours catching Sturgeons in blackwater for easy money.

Since frontier pursuits, I havent felt the need to fish for profit; having too much fun combining all 3 roles and making money/gold without even trying 😂

I used to be a guy that would have fun mainly from fighting people in free roam but I'm having more fun from doing the bounties whilst watching on youtube. Wish I bought the collector role though as I spent my gold on bounty license without researching beforehand and I fear that rockstar will need the gains from that role by the time I get enough gold ( if anyone knows of a way of good gold gain without buying please let me know lol thanks )

I like being In free mode and being able to do missions rather than loading in a mission itself with cut scenes and needing x amount of players and that

The new roles changed the way I play this game. Yes for sure.

I've been solo less.. Done way more searches/hunting.

I just switch between roles all day in stead of fighting everyone in sight.

My friends and I originally began playing RDO as pacifists. We kept to ourselves, stuck mostly to story and stranger missions, and only attacked other players when need be.

But nowadays, after being griefed and having our horses maimed by higher-level players on one too many occasions, we tend to shoot others on sight. I guess we grew tired of constantly having to scramble back to the stables on our scrawny nags, trying to escape enemy posses consisting of douchebags four- to five-times our level.

What platform are you playing on? I very rarely meet players who shoot at me first. You must have had some very bad luck. I can go for a whole week without being shot at - which can get a bit boring.

Back in the beta days, I was constantly pulled into pvp. Nowadays, getting griefed is a rare thing to happen. But it still does happen. I blast griefers with a dynamite RPG arrow and get away.

In the beta days, I was constantly scrounging for cash. Since the collector's days, I am not so worried about cash. I go after gold with the dailies.

It's a shame, but due to animal spawn frustrations, I've stopped hunting altogether.  Sucks because I really love the trader role too.

I still play the way I always have--mostly trying to rank up while actually enjoying the few things left in this game that actually work.

I have started doing easy dailies, and sometime ago found a 'feature' in the game that I won't be sharing (for obvious reasons). :) And yes, believe it or not, is also 100% legit.

Edit: Became a Collector so I can sell any "naturally-occurring" items I find. The enhanced Binoculars look like they might be useful to freeroam outside of the Collector role.

Quick question: Am I right in assuming Toxic Moonshine is only available to buy if you're a "registered" Moonshiner?

Answer is yes, but it's not worth buying unless you're frequently trying to flush players out of a tightly-enclosed space... otherwise, it's near useless--not even half as deadly as GTA Online's tear gas.

PS4. The first few weeks we played were fecking mayhem. I, too, chalk it up to plain bad luck.

Sure have changed the way I play.

As of today, I don't. I've had enough.

And I don't expect future titles by R* to be any better. Time to find another game/developer.

I have changed my gameplay for sure. First I never glitched, but now I turned into a glitching bastard to get dailies and hunting for trading done in solo LB missions.

Not sure about that but I seem to have a never ending supply of the stuff right now. Seems like we got a load free at Christmas.
