Leftover Pizza

What from GTAO, would you like to bring over to RDO?

Recommended Posts

Leftover Pizza

Or the other way around? Or nothing at all?

For me, I'd like to bring over the controls mapping from GTAO to RDO, the Interactive Menu and perhaps the lobby type choices.

Things I'd like to bring from RDO to GTAO are the phones, because there are none. The freeroam stranger  encounters and defensive mode in a more cultivated form. Oh, and 4K HDR graphics.

It's probably been discussed already, before I registered. While playing either one of the games, I keep running into little titbits like I mentioned, and I'm just a bit curious about what other players think on the matter. Of course, this is Rockstar, so I know nothing of it will ever happen, but still, posting about it could be fun.

I think the only thing I would put from RDO into GTAO is the ammo limit you carry on yourself, it drives me nuts that in GTAO you could carry 9,999 rounds, takes a way from strategizing. Just spray and pray

Ammo limit AND weapon limit you will be wearing visibly would be good indeed.

I haven't played GTAO in a very long time, but I guess... A parachute? There are times when it would be useful, like when you get launched into the air for no reason =P

We should have a clothes chest at camp where we can store X amount of custom outfits and have the fkn saddlebag fixed so we can actually save 5 outfits.

Exactly. If R* want to keep the "realism" of only being able to carry a limited amount of outfits, fine, but let us have 10 or 20 saved in our wardrobe so we can change things around at our camp or in tailors/general stores.

Having to create new outfits from scratch every time we want to deviate from the 3 we can carry is annoying.

Oh yes, I forgot about this. This ranks high on my list as well! Even if it's just renting a room above a tavern, it would be great start. I'm kinda over Cripps and his packing up and/or moving my camp. Anything that has four walls, a roof, and remains consistently available in the same location would be welcomed. Also, a bath or at least something that works for cleaning ourselves up. The water bucket at camp is useless.

The Oldsmobile Curved Dash was mass produced in 1901. It is a bit stretching the limit of plausibility to introduce it in RDR2.

The Deluxo is plausible if it comes with a Flux capacitor. 😜😜

I'd like the option to do this even if/when purchasable properties come along just for roleplaying purposes.

I quite like the idea of having a small cabin in Ambarino as a permanent base while renting a room in the hotels and saloons when I travel around the map.

I actually like the idea of that better than being able to own properties across the map as I don't really want RDO to go down the GTAO route of everyone owning everything.

Cars have existed since 1886, and have been common enough to be purchasable by the upper classes since 1895. There’s an advert for a runabout in Tumbleweed Saloon that has it listed with an as new price of $800 or so. Motorcycles would be even more common and cheaper.

My online character has over $10,000. Why shouldn’t I be allowed to buy a car if I want one? St Denis is a major modern city and an international shipping hub, with direct connections to Europe. All I’d have to do is talk to the right people. In real life, there were cars made in Louisiana at that time. There were more US car marques in 1899 than there are today. In fact, almost every major city in the US had at least one local car manufacturer by 1903, sometimes as many as 5.

Yeah, agree with much. Don't want cars really, and especially not a Deluxo, lol. (I don't mind NPC's having the odd car and we can steal it to drive, but once players can buy them, many would. Too many IMHO and it'd feel too modern for me to see cars all the time).

Lobby choice, job freedom, camp/property to spawn into, survivals and content in general. All the creative tools from GTA too like video editor or job creator etc. More to add to the games flexibility all round like GTA has as that's clearly why that game still thrives this far in.

So much freedom and choice. This is bare, too forced, and too restrictive.

No. That would completely ruin it.

I don't really care if they would be accurate and correct for the time, they would completely run the atmosphere of the game. And you do realise a car from that time would only do about 10mph, don't you? And that would be on a nice flat road. How many of those do you see in the game? So as well as costing a lot of money they would be totally impractical for the map we have.

I didn't say "existence" was the reason. Rarity, availability and price is why they're not in the game. Having cars in the game just wouldn't be period correct for the most part. The same went for RDR, which takes place 13 years later.

As much as I like cars; especially classic cars 😍, I'm gonna have to agree and say they probably shouldn't be added.

Lol, can you imagine; all of those cars being sunken in the Bayou; it'd really kill the atmosphere of the game! The whole map would be littered with broken car parts and you'd probably have people using them to block off shops, run people down who were fishing, etc.

I'm very opposed to them adding weaponized wagons as well. Though definitely more common in a sense, I hate to think of what they might do to the state of the game. A supply wagon would be great, but nothing that can be used to encourage griefing.

That would be the funny thing about them. It's a hard enough job stopping your horse tripping over stuff, can you imagine how often a car would lose a wheel when it tried to drive over a rock. What would you do then? Light a fire and send up smoke signals to get 'johnny on the stop' to bring a new one out to you? I can seem them bringing out weaponised vehicles but I really hope they don't.

You're right; the roads, or should I say paths, would not support a car from that time period. It's mostly one lane trails and if those cars were to drive off "road", they'd likely not last very long. I can see people now trying to drive them through Ambarino and getting stuck in the snow or falling off the edge of the mountain. It just wouldn't work and is probably best to keep the modes of transportation they way they are with horses and the like.

survivals.

Yeah I second this and anybody who recognizes me knows I've been saying this for a while now. Not only do we need Survivals we need the Job creator that not only does races, showdowns, etc., but a Job Creator for Survivals. They can't just toss in maps and then decide to let the mode die like it did on GTAO. If R* wants to stop making Survivals....then for those of us who still play survival to this day could have used a job creator for survivals....let the fans/players who like the mode keep that mode alive.

The land speed record as of 29 April 1899 was 66 miles an hour. A high end ‘production’ [I use that word loosely] would manage closer to 30. About as fast as the trains in-game. The Mercedes 35hp which went on sale in 1901 was capable of over 40. “Ruins the atmosphere” no more than having a modern eastern city in the form of New Orleans. Or allowing us to use imported European semi-automatic pistols.

“Rarity” because of the price. “Availabiliy” there were more than one car manufacturers in New Orleans and St Louis [which is close to NO] and Denver [which is in the same state as where the majority of the eastern half of the map is based on] at the time. “Price” I have 5 figures, and so do many others. Money is no object. Rockstar already has plans to sell warwagons with maxim guns on them. I reckon a steam car or an electic buggy would be more realistic for an outlaw to own than an armoured horse-drawn tank. We couldn’t own cars in Redemption 1 because John specifically didn’t like them. They showed up more than once. There’s even an automobile repair shop in Blackwater in 1911. But in Online? Our player characters are whatever we want them to be; that’s the point. If I want to own something that was readily available to the people with the means to own them in that time period, why shouldn’t I be allowed to? Because it won’t be good to look at for YOU? I don’t like people using Mauser pistols and dressing like fat clowns. But I can’t tell them not to do it, because ultimately a game is supposed to be fun, and because that stuff might be fun for them. And maybe my idea of fun is driving a veteran car off the side of a mountain in the old west. And who are you to tell me not to have fun how I want.

Spoiler

Just kidding! :D  One thing I'd like is the wardrobe and the possibility to save more than three outfits. I can get that you can't store that much on the horse. But in our camp and at wardrobes it should be an option.
