Do you have drive space somewhere? Copy all 60 GB somewhere and backup your GTAV game folder. If you want to play with mods, play with your unpatched copy. If Online, then patched folder.

 

Apply yourself, research and stop giving up. My wife was the same. When it comes to technical things, she's all up in arms. I told her, calm down, think, and learn. You'll eventually get it, if you have the passion.

Strange. Steam just forced me to do a 30 minute validation for GTAV. The game re-downloaded the vanilla files. I was able to quickly replace them with the modded files and the game runs perfectly. I wonder if that was a one-time event or if it is something I will have to do daily. I kept restarting the game and the problem never came back.

Are you sure?

 

You have to block the update via firewall, hosts file, unplug the ethernet, cut the wire, jam all comms, whatever.

My chrome blocked the files that guy gave me for the previous patch so the trainer could work. Can I just use my own files from the 4/21 update? I haven't updated the game yet. And I only need the 3 files right? gta5.exe, GTAVLauncher.exe and update.rpf?

I really don't get why R* doesn't let modding into their game. Police mods were such a big part of IV and kept the game alive for all this time. It's pretty ridiculous if you think about it. Wake up and smell the coffee R*.

 

 

 

If the scripthook .dll starts to be blocked, couldn't someone contact R* to try to get them to add an exception for the .dll if it matches the proper .md5 for the non online script hook?

If you look back a few pages, you will find solutions for both the steam version and the retail version. All of my questions have been answered on the few hours I have been on this thread.

I don't call downgrading your game a "solution": You're just moving the problem to create a new one, at best.

 

Plus, that update shows that Rockstar clearly doesn't want modding. And that's the real problem right there.

 

While i can perfectly understand that a company want to protect their product (in this case their new cash cow for kids, GTA O), i can't understand and support that they also f*ck the modding capabilities of the solo in the process. That's a f*cking disgrace, not only for GTA V, but for the entire franchise. A GTA game without mods is a like a new Elder Scroll title without modding capabilities. Dead and forgotten in three months flat. Totally killing the replayability of your game in the process. Stupid f*cking sh*t i have no words.

At those people who don't know how to block GTAV from updating: pull the internet cable off and plug in your penis inside your ethernet connect

and GTAV will never update again.

 

Jokes aside, this patch is pretty useless of it's all about online... GG, R*.

My Launcher Updated It Straight Back. Help Anyone

 

You need to set the game to offline mode and block your launcher from accessing the internet in some cases.

 

How Do I DO This

 

Block connection with the windows firewall for both "GTA5.exe" and "GTAVLauncher.exe". Works for me.

Create a new text document inside GTAV installation dir, rename it to steam_appid, write 271590 inside and start the game from GTAVLauncher.exe.

Alexander, looks like it is time for you to make a anti-patch.dll or some other method of breaking there patching crap.

An alternative to that, would be to have a function in the custom dll that blocks it from being patched, until the script hook has caught up, and then patching the game, as well as updating the script hook

But that would require switching the files over, in order to play the game, because R* didn't think people might want to have multiple game files, and so when the files are moved, or you try to load the launcher in a different location, it checks the original install location, and runs from there.

 

TBH I dont understand why R* didnt just create two sets of files, one for GTAV and one for GTAO, they are counted a seperate games anyway.

I was planning on it, as part of something that is/was "coming soon". I was excited to create body-part movement physics/"animations". After today's news... I'm not sure that it will be possible to release the project at all, simply because a bypass for the new client-sided anti-cheat (IF it's for single player too) is not something anyone is prepared to deal with legally.

 

Today's update didn't break any of our code though. Silly stuff R*. Stop clowning around and hire some anti-cheat professionals. Find a way to culture & moderate an ecosystem (and maybe even an economy) of mods for single-player. There are ways to do it securely.

 

I'm expecting the onslaught of games that require hardware virtualization to start happening. GTA V PC is one of the final catalysts. What a disaster.

I got ahead of myself. I believe the scripthook needs to update the hashes (if Bucho's findings are correct). Otherwise updating them in the natives.h would be useless as it would be calling incorrect hashes in the scripthook with the current hashes. I hope my understanding is correct, Alex can comment.

i believe you are correct.

 

I checked and it is indeed the case; at least, adding four doesn't achieve anything. On that basis there's nothing that individual mods can do.

AGREED. GTA was always about the story mode, now it looks like all they care about is this crappy online mode that only kids play. I don't want to play as a muted guy who looks exactly like the rest of the people, with no personality. It's just not interesting, and this crap is ruining modding which is the best of the game. They'll have to understand this eventually, GIVE US WHAT WE WANT NOT WHAT YOU THINK WE WANT.

 

And of course, then you see tons of Youtube videos in the Newswire about cool mods for the game. Sure. Give these men their medals.
