I really don't get why R* doesn't let modding into their game. Police mods were such a big part of IV and kept the game alive for all this time. It's pretty ridiculous if you think about it. Wake up and smell the coffee R*.

If the scripthook .dll starts to be blocked, couldn't someone contact R* to try to get them to add an exception for the .dll if it matches the proper .md5 for the non online script hook?

Pretty much. Rockstar needs to sell that shark, they won't if the online is littered with little kids making stupid videos about destroying other players gaming experiences.

 

I think these types of updates will start to happen more often, and what will happen then is that we all have to kinda settle in on a version and keep that offline...

That program looks to be Cheat Engine, very useful. Lets you disassemble the game code.

Rockstar went on record they are against all forms of modding, be it in GTA Online or single player. So I don't see this happening anytime soon. With the added checked with the latest update to check for injected DLLs and modified and injected hashes as a sign of how much they "support" mod.

Why don't rockstar add community servers for people with mods and cheats to go on and stuff, it would be hosted by the community. Rockstar could then have their servers which you have to use a different character on or something like that.

This game wont succeed on PC if rockstar dont find a way of allowing mods while keeping the game fair.

I've bought this game 3 times already (PS3, PS4 and PC), and neither of those times, it was for the online mode. I'll be damned if I can't mod it.

That's why we can't have nice things.

 

There needs to be a discussion on how to better manage this going forward. However, we are just a community of disorganized players - we need Rockstar's help on this.

Many who used the trainers online should be pretty worried about their GTA:O stuff now. It's just odd that there wasn't much of an anti-cheat system in this beforehand.

Ah... not surprisingly, Rockstar is up to their old tricks again. Good thing I made a copy of my game directory (which you should ALWAYS DO when modding). At least other types of scripting can continue on the old code.

 

For the future, if you're not into MP (like myself) - keep your good working copy backed up somewhere and/or block GTAVLauncher in Windows Firewall w/ Advanced Security:

 

 

Quick Rant

 

Rockstar put too much of their eggs into the GTA:O basket. I think they could have made some decent chunk of change selling a R* Mod SDK/Creation Kit of some kind while sealing off MultiPlayer from modified files. Cheating will never be stopped, that is a fact in today's world. There is always going to be someone to ruin it for someone else.

 

I get R* has to look after their bottom line. Cheaters keeping the paying masses from R* online services eats at their bottom line. This was a short term emergency solution to stop the bleeding. I get it. Still, they could have planned this out more and made themselves richer at the same time while their customers have their way.

 

We can work together... REALLY. R*, you need to trust us a bit more. Look at what is happening with Police and regular citizens in the US, it ain't pretty. Distrust never helped anyone. Remember Valve and Bethesda? So much potential that went down the tube due to piss poor planning and decision making.

 

Rockstar, its a love/hate thing. I love you guys for what you do but use your minds and...

Honestly, R* is just doing its job.

Could have been done better, no doubt, but frankly what kind of reaction people were expecting with the mess going on online now ?

Just imagine the rage on the forums if R* had said : "oh, you guys f*cked up GTAO ? Well that's your problem now, we're already working on our next game".

 

Really if people want to hate, hate the hackers/cheaters, not Rockstar.

If it wasn't for them, there wouldn't be a GTA in the first place...

the simple answer for mods is ONLY allow it for single player and block them online, nobody likes a cheater online.... i just updated my damn game and i was about to use the mod to do the 5 mile run mission because i dont want to spend about 20 mins tapping the damn run button to run the 5 miles, i tried it last night and gave up at 1.1 miles, hope this mod gets updated to work with this new patch and on the social club version of the game just so i can do this 1 mission faster

false, R* made a Scriptbypasssystem, if you mod to much then you can only play with players who have modify the game (findout on console) but i didnt understand why R* let this unpatched, they have to ban all trainer user, and then it will not ruin anything. Sorry for my bad english

Hey Rockstar, here's another idea. Make GTAV:LAN for modders and other deviants. Or even a private session for modders only. Throw in a modding SDK Kit. Sell it for another 60-100 bucks. I'm already wasting time learning new scripting and figuring out what natives work and what parameters it accepts. Time is money. Solves many problems. Give the modders, deviants, and yes - even cheaters an outlet.
