lumper
Hello, So today I bought GTA-V for xbox-one. I bought the version "Premium online with Megalodon shark card" I am hoping to take advantage of the Twitch/Prime promotional rewards. I have never played any of the GTA games. I am a huge fan of RDR2 and its online counterpart. As a result of the twitch/prime promotion, the new cards distributed in the game that reward a future RDR2 reward and the sale that is going on, I decided today was the day to get in the game and check it out as well as reap the rewards of these promotions. If you were starting today, with no past knowledge or information, knowing what you know now after having played this game in some cases for years, if you could go back and start over, is there any thing you would do different, or anything special that you would do that wont be obvious to me as I start this adventure? The game is probably a little different if you start off with the basic game and less or no money to begin with, what is the advantage of starting with money and what is the best way to start thinking ahead about how I may want to save money for later or use it now on things that will make the experience better? Thanks very much for reading this far, and thanks to anyone that takes the time to steer me or enlighten me a bit on things that may really help me as I get started. Lump Just play the damn game the way you want to and have fun. If you are talking about Online though, I recommend making a new thread in the Online section, since that's probably the best place to get tips on how to play the game and what to do with the money in the beginning. Again, just have fun, yeah? KingAJ032304 and marcolinomarcol

The online part of the game though is freaking me out, I am so lost. But I will follow your advice and post in the online section. To be honest I dont play many games, I am 50 years old, disabled so now I spend a lot of time at home alone, I bought an xbox one x and a 70" 4k tv and figured ok, lets see whats doin'. I played COD ww2, and a few other games like golf, and boxing, but nothing too serious. Then I found RDR2 and fell in love with this type of game, I never experienced anything like that before, I ended up playing it 3x all the way to the end, I am actually still working on 100% the game, I am at 97%. Also, I dont usually play online games, I just dont like what goes on usually between griefing, cheating, trolling, I dont need that in my life so I have managed to avoid it for many years, last game I played online a lot was counterstrike and Quake 2, lol. So I tried RDR2 online and to be honest at first all the way til level 38 I didnt like it and I didnt get it, but then I turned a corner and they made a few tweaks to the game, the day they added defensive mode I was pretty psyched. Now I am a pretty high level, 165 or something, and I know my way around the game very well, I own everything you can own in game and I know what I am doing, I have been part of a couple of groups on there etc.. I really enjoy it very much. But I figured while I wait for the online summer update to RDR2 online, I will take a look at GTA V, same company similar type of game, open world for the most part, etc.. So, I bought it and dove in. Now, after reading some, and trying the game I am getting it and I think I will be just fine on the story mode, but the online is hurting my brain, I am so lost and confused I dont know what to do etc.. I wont go into any of that here though as I realize this isnt the right section for online talk. I think I am going to make a new post to get some help from some very patient and thorough folks over there that want to take on the challenge of explaining it to me. Thanks for your reply, you made me laugh a little and that was well worth it. I noticed you said expensive as one of your adjectives, the main reason I bought the game was two fold, one, I love RDR2 and you can achieve a handful of RDR2 related items in GTA V, so I wanted those items, and the game was on sale so much that I just had to buy it. I paid $40.40 for the base game with the starter pack, criminal enterprise pack and megalodon shark card, plus something else that I am forgetting right now, plus I had done the twitch prime thing and linked my social club accounts, so I feel like for the money I paid I got a great value and hopefully having a bit of a head start as opposed to starting off with the base game will help me a little online. If it werent for RDR2 I wouldnt have bought GTA at all, and even then, I wasn't buying it because I am on a very strict budget as I am not working and dont want to burden my wife with such things, but as it turns out she loves me having something new to do so it all worked out. Thanks again for your comments. Edited August 1, 2019 by lumper

I played through most of the missions in GTA 5, launched On-line, and it makes no sense. But when you launch it there are different options, so if you can guess the right ones then you can just jump into a race for instance, which is more logical. Thanks again for your comments. Oh I think I have another video game you might like. Since you have an XBOX ONE you should try saints row 1 and 2 and if you want 4 as well (Saints Row 3, and Saints Row Gat Out Of Hell are awful downgrades Saints Row IV is fun tho but NOTHING serious)! They are honestly the most fun I ever had in a video game ever! Saints Row 2 on it's own was quite ahead of its it's time (and kind of still is) in terms of features it had being the most diverse open world sandbox game I ever played. Be warned as the graphics aren't that well (even back then) and the multiplayer is less than average but all of this is EASILY made up for what it offers. It has the best customization ever seen in a open world AAA game to date and you will find yourself sinking 100s of hours into it. It also allows for 2 people to beat the story together instead of just one in the GTA games. Best part is since their old mediocrely-popular games, you can get them as cheap as $3.99 a piece at gamestop or something! lumper
Thanks again for all the tips and advice and information. So quick question please. I bought a few items, an attack helicopter, an oppressor, an armored truck, etc.. where do they go after I buy them? I got a notice saying they woudl be delivered but to where? I searched this and heard in your hanger, but I dont think I have ever purchased a hanger, so what then? Can I buy one now and then my vehicles will show up there? I bought the MOC I think it is, one of the attack helicopters, a Cargobob, etc.. I just want to go see them and understand where they are on any given day. I had made some money and I Was reading guides, etc.. I have since decided I will wait til I play the story before I do anything else in game online, But I do want to see my 8 or 10 million dollars in purchases and I cant find them anywhere. Any help with this would be great, Thanks
lumper
well I figured it out, I had to go to MAze bank and talk to my assistant, that allowed me to chose by location and sure enough the items I purchased were all available so that part I got, Thanks everyone for helping me understand a little more about the game. Thanks for the suggestion, For me a huge part of whether I will try a game are the graphics, I have played every game since Pong that was an advance, ie: Zaxxon, MArio 64, Goldeneye, Quake 2, Half life and HL2, COD and COD world at war then WW2 my favorite, and then RDR, and now RDR2. I did play Far cry 3 I think 3, the one in Africa, I played the original Crysis and Veitcong, also an amazing game at the time, so today, if it isnt as good as GTA V or RDR2 I am probably not going to be able to stay interested, I just dont like going backwards. When you have a 4k tv you want to see the graphics in all their glory and anything less just falls flat for me, I am a bit of a graphics snob I guess lol. Being that there are so many games, I have tried many like Halo, gears, etc.. but they were just ok. I am already looking forward to GTA VI and a sequel or add on to RDR2. So as much as I appreciate the recommendation and I am sure it is a great game for what it is, I would just be bored. I tried Fallout 76 recently and despite it having pretty good graphics and what seemed like a cool story it just didnt do it for me and I was very bored very quickly and un-installed it to make room for other games. Even though they arent open world I still enjoy Star Wars Battlefront 2 and COD ww2, they both look amazing and I am an old Star Wars fan from 1977 when I saw the first film in theaters, I was in the 4th grade, so I saw it at the perfect age, and back then it was so far advanced from anything else that had ever come out I became a life long fan and Lucas can do no wrong as far as I am concerned. I remember Flash Gordan and Battlestar Galactica so Star Wars was life changing to me and my friends, heck, that was pre cable tv days, once you saw it in the theaters you didnt see it again until the 1990's when they released the vhs remakes which I still have, they were available at McDonbalds believe it or not as a promotion back in the day. Anyway a little back story, so thanks again very much, Ill look at it, I have heard of it, but I doubt it will make the list for me.
