Unable to lock onto delivery vehicles?

I was protecting a crew member today whilst he was delivering Bunker Supplies (in the Phantom Wedge).  I was flying an Akula.  (Akula's homing missiles work fine, as I was able to lock onto enemies no problem).

 

I wasn't in this crew member's CEO or MC at the time, I was in my own one.

 

I wasn't able to lock onto him at all.  I switched targeting priorities to everyone, and it still didn't lock on.  I was definitely in homing missile mode.

 

Has this been a stealth patch?  Can anyone else confirm??  If this is the case, then fantastic!!

 

Otherwise, what could have caused this for me?

I don't think bunker and I/E stuff could be locked on - just biker cargo and cargo crates.

Wow really?  In all my years playing this, I didn't realise Bunker sales were immune.

It's been like this for ages, ever since the Import/Export DLC came out you weren't able to lock onto delivery vehicles anymore. The only ones you can lock onto are Special Cargo and MC Business vehicles. Everything else - Air Freight Cargo, Vehicle Cargo, Weapon Shipments, Nightclub Goods, etc. cannot be locked onto.

I only ever thought it was Nightclub goods.  It's great to know now!  I wonder why they penalise Special Cargo and MC Businesses?

Maybe it's not necessarily the fact that they penalise them, it's just because back then there wasn't many griefing tools so there was no point in the Delivery Vehicles being lock-on-proof. Of course, as the years go by we got more and more weaponised vehicles and they had to block lock-on for the Delivery Vehicles, otherwise they'd get destroyed within a matter of 2 seconds. 

 

I guess they just never bothered to change the MC Bussines and Special Cargo Delivery Vehicles. Either that or, for some unknown reason, they don't want to. This is just my best guess but it seems logical to me.

Having sold most of my business products in solo sessions, or in populated lobbies with heavily armed guards -I did not know this myself.  I'm not one to attack others shipments so I can't verify if this truth or not.

I have noticed from time to time you can not lock onto certain players who are in some kind of business mission but never paid attention to what they were doing at the time.
