Yeah...I felt the same at the real life pilot experience part.

Good luck getting in.

It was on that page but long gone since this was early alpha stuff.  I didn't get a spot but that is understandable if you saw how crazy the survey you had to take was.  This was obviously not for the casual flight sim person...the first few questions alone were for real life pilots.

The NDA was crazy too.  And the only reason I say that is because some site did an article on some dude who recorded a few hours of flight.  When I saw that headline imwas like "How?  That NDA was crazy".  Of course when I went to the article all video and pics were removed.

Im most likely going to invest in the Honeycomb setup this summer, the yoke for my birthday, but Id have to buy a logitech usb throttle to hold me over til I buy the Bravo throttle quad, which btw has been delayed a few months due to covid.

And, I just found out that MD-11 and DC-10 aircraft use a 4 engine styled throttle which means no real changes needed to make it work with the Bravo Quadrant.

@StellarRunnerI never even considered the multiplayer experience but it looks great.

Watching them fly around as a group in multiplayer reminded me of Trent Palmer vids.

Pretty happy my PC will run it. Although I will try to upgrade it's RAM. I think 16gbs it's a minimum.

Same. I can run it on recommended settings. I'm going to see what the console version is like first, on Series X. I don't usually play games on my laptop.

I first have to see if a flight simulation game will be a super casual experience for me or not. If not, I might run in on my PC and perhaps get a stick. I'll want that eventually, I imagine but I'm just going to try get a feel for it before I invest.

Im going for a mixmatch, AMD 3900x and just ordered a Zotac 2070 Super, but i have doubts about the 2070 I ordered, like whether it comes back in stock and lets me keep the way I ordered it(installment payments) next purchase for my computer will be 32gb memory.

Even if this does legitimately demand up to 32GB of RAM (and not just as a result of toss-porting as per usual), I would not install 32GB in a new build.

Because I can't imagine that you would require more than 32GB over the life of the build (as it will exist within the life of the next console generation, meaning RAM requirements won't increase much)**, I would purchase 16GB (2x8GB), and then after installing the sim, purchase an additional 16GB if and when necessary. If you don't end up needing 32GB right away, you'll likely end up paying far less for the additional two sticks.

** Over the life of the XBox 360 (2005 - 2013), the recommended (not minimum) RAM amount for PC games only increased from 2GB to 4GB. Over the life of the XBox One (2013 - 2020), the recommended RAM amount started at 8GB and increased to 16GB.

That's not the best advice as ram is better purchased in the kits of size you require from the get go as they've been tested together. I made the mistake in buying 2x32gb kits for a total of 64gb separately and one of the sets doesn't work with the first set even though it's exactly the same product and specs. If you're buying ram and intend on 32gb then go strait out and buy the 32gb kit it can get very costly if you don't.

Are you "filthy-casual"-shaming me? 😰 😛

Anyone sign up for Alpha testing?

This guy's voice is kind of annoying, but here you go.

I tried.  It's totally funny and a bit embarrassing.

When the first questions are about what pilot license you have and air experience you feel a bit small just wanting to fly a computer airplane around.  After that they ask you about your sim rig.  Hydraulic cockpit?  360 wraparound display?  You know...all the sh*t us gamers have.  Ha.

You purchase a second kit of the same model as the kit you already have (EDIT: Not just the same product and specs, but the same model). I've done this many times myself with no problem at all.

Yes I'm talking about the same model of the kit. I had done it a few times before like you said with no issues this is the first time it's happened on further investigation this isn't what the majority of outlets and professionals advise.

Just to make sure I understand: You're saying that RAM should never be upgraded? I admit my last build was a while ago, but that would be news to me.

That's not exactly what I'm getting at obviously ram can be upgraded but gone are the days where you can just pump any old ram into your system and it will work together like my first build back in 1999. I built my current rig about 6 years ago now and the tolerances for ram has come such a way now that the slightest deviation from spec in the manufacturing process between kits can cause them not to work correctly if you upgrade in 2 batches at 2 different times. In my case I brought 2100mhz 4x8gb kit at first for 32gb with the intention to purchase the same kit again to bring me upto a total of 64gb. When finally getting the pc up and running I couldn't get it to recognise the last 32gb correctly on further investigation into this issue I became aware of the problem and that general advice for ram is that if you want to buy kits of ram its advisable to purchase a 64gb kit comprising of the amount of sticks you require as that's a guarantee that all the sticks within the kit have been tested together and will not have issues with each other.

So in your advice it's possible to buy another 16gb and hope the tolerances between the 2 separate kits are good enough so that they will work together nicely. But proper procedure entails you selling the current 16gb kit and purchasing a specific 32gb kit to replace it in order to make sure that they will work together correctly.

It was news to me aswell and seeing my £320 worth of 32gb kit still sitting in the packaging after putting it back in it is a constant reminder of the issues that can arrise and being as it was past the return window I've been stuck with it for 6 years.

I hope it's not as bad as you say. You'll forgive me for withholding acceptance of that advice until I do some research on it, though! Also, I've never tried to maximize RAM speed or overclock RAM, but it would seem to me that that would be much more likely to be an issue at higher speeds or tighter timings.

Don't forget that Flight Simulator is coming to Xbox One. For those who don't have a PC, or a PC with the correct specs without shelling out lots for upgrades or even a new one.  Xbox an option! 🙂

Although, I do admit that the PC experience probably will be far better. At least the console is an option though & it'll give people who may not be necessarily 'hardcore' Flight Simmers' and/or for the reasons above give console gamers the chance to have a go of what looks to be a fantastic title.

Yeah that's right obviously the better performance and higher the performance of the ram has more of a detrimental effect to what I'm talking about but it's still pretty sound advice when shopping for ram especially when most ram is pretty high performance theses days.

I'm excited but a bit skeptical.

Me and MS flight sim go back to the very first one and playing it on my green screen pc.  There were no shortcuts.  IT WAS A SIM!  I used to spend all the real time hours flying from Philadelphia to San Fran or Oakland...usually crashing midway when having to land for fuel.

The sim only got better.  Eventual they added slew(or whatever it was called) where you could kind of fast forward time but not crash.  The simple vector geometry turned into a 3d map.

Then it got associated with the 9/11 attacks and went away.

If they release this as a real flight sim it better be keyboard only for the xbox release.   You can't have a true flight sim input be a console controller. :)

Can you please remove the 2020 from this thread title?

This is going to be great. I’m just puzzled on how it will function on a controller.

Turns out MSFL 2020 will release for Xbox One as well.

In the video below the guy compares ideal specs released for PC vs the console specs.

FSX which came out in 2006 was controller capable with the Xbox 360 being the preferred controller, I dont see MSFS being any different but with a current xbox controller(on PC as well)

The console aspect confuses me unless they are going to push for an addon keyboard and mouse unless the console version will be a neutered version.

I wonder if you’d be able to use flight control sticks with the XB1 version
