Railroad baron

How do you play this? I've won a few of them before but now don't bother trying because there's more xp to be made hanging around at the back and killing people. Instead of going for the train and waiting for someone to blow you up with a dynamite arrow I think it's far better to pick off the stragglers. Do you go for the win or just play for the easy kills?

The Dedito Gae

Personally, i dont know.

But theres an strategy to these, theres always some people who do good in these poorly designed barely tested game modes with sh*tty spawn points and i truly have no f*cking idea how.

I was close to have fun my first time, there was only three people and i was doing pretty well (mind you, this was with a low level character and didnt had special ammo and neither of my cheese cards were maxed up) was on the lead for a miracle despite not fully grasping the concept of it... thats it until a sore loser decided to start using explosive ammo.

Couple that with PiB and he was untouchable. Event went to the sh*tter.

My second time there was way more people and it was impossible to even move due the sh*t spawning and excessive ammount of players. Just quit after getting killed for the 54th time in under a minute.

This is the one I like to use for the "free roam event kills" challenges, it's too easy.  I sit at the back of the spawn area and get my kills with whatever weapon is required(if one is required) and then usually exit to free roam before the event ends.  I don't like it.  I think it would have been better suited as showdown mode with two teams

Death match PvP kills most free roam events, Railroad Baron is the worst. The objectives are poorly defined, and then allowing/encouraging all the non-objective players to kill eachother is always just a clusterfork. Cold Dead Hands, King of the Castle, ok, those are death matches, then why does every other event have to be an open death match? Kills the objective, and the winner is only by chance. Railroad Baron, understandably you have to kill the driver of the train, and kill to get on the train, but imagine if the event only let you kill players on the train, instantly much more fun and based towards the objective. Fools Gold, just a random death match, when everyone should work together to go after the armored players. Master Archer, this would be 100x better with no PvP.

I don't participate in the dumbassery of any of the events unless it is for a Daily. Honestly, no one should "ruin" the game modes by playing against the objective (just killing), but I guess if that is what you want to do, and the mode works that way, enjoy it. Just more poorly thought out R* crap, good potential wasted.

Slippery Bastard and Never Without One make a big difference to any PvP on horseback.

Also - the people who win these things tend to be the people focussed on the objective rather than the killing.  The person who wins always has only one or two kills.

Well if you won a few, then you should know.

Completed another 28 day streak today, after breaking it before.

Got a treasure map for the Kamassa River this time.

It was my assumption that the players who won RR Baron usually used teamwork. Holding a car solo for any duration is really hard to do.

Get close to the relevant carriage, activate  slippery bastard, keep topping up dead eye.

Jump aboard, from in front of the target carriage if possible - working your way back is safer than moving up the train.

Stay in cover.

Defend your position with fire bottles and dynamite.

Twin sawed offs are a good weapon choice as you need to snap fire at attackers - and if you take the time for a head shot, you will get picked off.

Top up health where possible.

Try to hold out for a reasonable amount of time.

Once you die, defend your score by killing people from outside the train, don’t bother with trying to get back in there.

This mode, just like most of Free Roam modes is a spawn kill fest. Since i'm already high enough and XP doesn't mean much, i don't play Free Roam events cause i'm not having fun when i play them. And that's my endgame - having fun.

This is pretty much it for me as well; the last time I played, I was in and out in less than a minute after completing the daily challenge.

Indeed, what could be a fun concept is ruined by ability cards, tonics, and player owned ammo/weapons. They'd work much better if they were structured like Capture or LTS in GTAO; with forced + pickup weapons, no gimmicks, and a clear objective. I do not enjoy these and it takes a lot for me to even want to join one if it's required to complete a daily challenge.

I read it wrong (too many beers) I thought you were asking how to play, lol. I've only done like two, once when it was new to try it out, which I quit. The other was just for a daily challenge.I won't try it for real, it's just one big clusterf*ck.

DeadEyeAdler

I usually play this with a posse so capturing the cart is always the primary focus, when solo it honestly depends on what type of players are in the lobby. I don't like going out of my way to farm noobs, its dishonourable and takes the fun away for many people.

The key to this one is getting on the train safely as early as possible.  If you can be first on the train you've got a good chance of winning as everyone else takes each other out.

I've had matches where I've been on the train over 3 minutes without firing a shot because no one is even getting close.  I've also heard equipping your preffered weapon before accepting the invite helps, I just keep forgetting to try it.

Failed Again

I played this one 2 times, I didn't like it.

And I will soon add Master archer as a no go..

Just spoiled the targeting event..

It's basically designed to be horrible except for the guy winning.

When it comes to taking out the King, just keep riding or board safely and wait for someone else to start fighting him.

Kill the winner. This goes for fools gold and other events tbh

For me personally, I know I could do much better in all of these events if I was not so frugal with the tonics, special ammo and etc. I'm always putting profits over winning.

I've also won matches by being virtually ignored. It's like everyone forgot the objective of the game and went psycho.

Also purposefully veering off track right at the start of the match works.

Dont be afraid to use special ammo. My only regret was not having enough.

This one and King of the Castle is an xp fest. Try to do the objectives but give up in the end.

This is easily one of the most poorly thought out and Ill concieved game modes I’ve ever played. It’s incredibly bad
