It's not even confirmed to be real. Just something the british tabloids decided to publish like they always do. 007 is just a codename. In some of the Fleming novels Bond loses his 007 status. If it does turn out to be real I'm sure he'll be 007 by the end of the movie. Anyways, I'm very excited for Bond 25. I thought this is just another another cynical woke marketing ploy that's contaminating lots of popular culture at the moment. This trend of making protagonists female and of colour to be down with with the vocal woke minority. But as you said in the series, Bond some times loses his 007 status and if it goes to someone else, why not. Here's a chance of having an interesting character in the Bond universe. And I hope it's just motivated by that. I would hate to think that the idea was born out of some agenda for inclusiveness for sake of appeasing some sensitive people. I remember Idris Elba's name being thrown around as a contender for a new Bond. I would support that. He has the chops. I'm keeping an open mind. We'll see how it goes.
