Craigsters
I'm pretty sure Jim Hansons children are involved with this production, if you look at the wiki The Jim Henson Company in the column window on the right side a link well say wiki page - for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance on the right hand side column window under production well be The Jim Henson Company Big Molio, Ivan1997GTA and Is this The Guy? 3 "You don't understand! Well that’s just a couple of minute’s worth, it is incredible to think that they are going to deliver ten hours of that. If the story holds up against the visuals, I can see it becoming something truly lauded. Craigsters
Yes but can today's generation appreciate the The Art of Puppetry and more then one person moving a big puppet around to make it work smoothly etc? Big Molio
I watched all ten episodes with my son this weekend. I was utterly blown away. This thing is the most visually gorgeous TV show that I have ever seen. It was superbly written too, with some great voice acting, especially the Chamberlain (take a bow Simon Pegg) and Aughra (Donna Kimball), both of whose original voices have since died. The new voices are almost indistinguishable. I was pretty tentative about this. The Dark Crystal is one of my favourite films. It is a true work of art. Thankfully, this series has been made with a great deal of love and reverence to the source, but in fact expands and widens the lore, enriches it, and manages to tell its own story. "Mother" Aughra especially is a highlight, she is just magnificent. I wasn't totally sold on many of the Gelfling designs, some looked out and out weird, especially some of the female ones. But overall, the rich, whimsical, geekiness soaks right through this show. The pillbug things that became the wheels on the Skeksis three-wheeled coach for example. Bonkers. Clever how each episode is named as a line of dialogue from the movie too. The comical episode with the Heretic skeksis and his mystic counterpart putting on their own puppet show to explain Thra's history was genius An absolute gem, a treat. I could laud this all day long. I've waited 37 years to go back to Thra. Netflix absolutely nailed it and then some. If you are a fan of the original film at all, then check this out if you can. You won't see anything as brilliant as this until season 2. Edited September 1, 2019 by Big Molio

darthYENIK
It isn’t a movie?! I didn’t realize until the end of the first episode. Pleasantly surprised. I like it so far. It’s much more rich a story than the movie. Although I liked the mystery of the movie. Not knowing fully what the history and lore is. It feels like a reverse Hobbit/LOTR sort of thing. The movie is more of a pure hero’s journey, where the series is that plus a half dozen other stories going on at the same time. Except in this case the prequel comes second.
