Better call paul on a side note I absolutely love the breaking bad universe, i want rockstar to go down the same route and set GTA6 in a “””boring””” location but with amazing characters Edited October 20, 2019 by Equatecurl

And you go to jail if you cant afford a lawyer and then have to break out If you can't afford a lawyer you get the Public defender who sucks and will lose the case. But then again this is GTA not a legal drama so forget what I said. Breaking out of prison fits GTAO very well. Edited March 26, 2020 by Zello
Zello 19,123
There could be a fee deducted every day kinda like GTA Online does with the mechanic and your businesses but that would get annoying.

That would only work with multiple protagonists though. It'd be an interesting twist on things. Maybe place an ankle monitor on the protagonist. He has to then conduct his business by phone. Why would you shoot the lawyer? The lawyer is there to help you. The only reason why you should kill your lawyer would be story related like if the feds have him on tape and he has to snitch on the protagonist. I'd like to see Probation officers if our protagonist has just been released from prison and is out on parole. This would only work for story reasons though and maybe only in the beginning of the game. Get in trouble early in the story caught violating your parole you get more cops and wanted levels on you quicker since they are keeping an eye on you. A probation officer character that gives the protagonist a tough time and then you make him "disappear" would be an interesting thing to see in a story. DownInThePMs 2,370
Tyla's Vice City concept did a pretty good job explaining how this mechanic would work in a hypothetical GTA game, I recommend checking it out.

Evil empire 2,667
I like the idea of hiring a lawyer, to develop the concept about the various more or less talented lawyers you could also have them affiliated with various more or less powerful organizations who offer more or less hazardous and rewarding jobs to fix your problems when you get caught. Once busted you would be able to call all of them and choose one of their missions. For example the least dangerous job would only let you out with your handguns and a 10% decrease on your fine whereas the most dangerous would let you go out with all your weaposn and a 95% decrease on your fine. Alternatively you could receive a mission to kill a dangerous gang/mafia leader in the prison, take part to illegal fights with various fighting styles like in San Andreas or Saints Row 2 then escape optionally with other inmates and leave with a helicopter or a boat depending on the difficulty level of the mission you chose. Racecarlock 724
I have an actual gameplay idea for this, if you'll hear me out. So, you know how when you get busted you lose money and weapons? Well, there could be different tiers of lawyers. I guess you'd start out with a low tier one, but as time goes on and you gain money (and let's be clear, lawyers would not be locked off by having low reputation points or whatever, money's already a good barrier), you could get better lawyers that could make it so you don't lose weapons and lose less money when you get busted. And this wouldn't even interfere with your ideas either, like, you could have different lawyers with the "Don't lose weapons when busted" and/or "X% busted fee reduction" perks, and then also have them unlock new opportunities for missions and crimes and such. Zello 19,123
Adding more to house arrest in The Sopranos Junior could only go to certain places like funerals or the doctors office. If our protagonist is on house arrest he'd only be able to go to certain locations for a very limited amount of time to conduct business.

The appeal of an open world game is that it's open world, so unless there were multiple protagonists again so you could switch to one that's not on house arrest, something like this would suck a huge amount of appeal right out of the game. Not to mention I don't know whether or not you'd be on house arrest for part of the story or every time you got busted, although if it's every time you get busted that would only double my resistance to the idea.

And I think it should be more like Heist crews in GTA V, where each has a different ability and a different pay. It's amazing how old ideas from PS2 era are not only great today, but are still underdeveloped.

rjmthe2nd 199
This is pointless. It'd most likely be apart of the plot like VC when you get busted and not a mechanic.
