What are some small details or mechanics you'd like to see in GTA VI?

Recommended Posts

There are plenty of great smaller features in Rockstar's recent RDR 2; fishing, the ability to interact with NPC's, the fact that your horses need to be fed and groomed, environmental elements interacting with one another such as fire spreading, vultures circling dead bodies, meat decaying, horses being spooked by active hot springs and so on.

What sort of smaller features or details would you like to see included in GTAVI?

A couple I've come up with:

Dust, mud, dirt, sludge, snow, grass, weeds, etc should gradually accumulate on your outfit and character overtime, in addition to this keeping the same car without maintaining it regularly should result in build up of environmental debris in areas you've visited, if you've tracked through mud the inside of the vehicle where you sit should gradually start to get caked in the stuff, leave a car out in a snowy environment and the windshield should gradually freeze over and snow should accumulate on top of the vehicle as well as dirty the insides of it if the doors are all left opened for whatever reason in any form of weather that blows debris around.

Pressing a directional button in whatever vehicle you happen to be inside should enable or disable it's indicators. In a similar fashion doing the same thing near the trunk/boot of your vehicle should allow you to do the same thing, similarly holding the button you use to enter the vehicle down should result in the character putting on their seat belt which would prevent you from being flung out of the windshield during a collision. Double tapping the button in quick succession could be used to enable the door locks to keep the police out.

Depending on the vehicle, holding the enter/exit button in addition to holding up or down on the arrow keys should allow you to roll the windows of the vehicle up or down, doing so would obviously alter the temperature inside the vehicle and potentially let in or out any effects going on inside the vehicle; if consuming drugs such as cigarettes, weed, etc is part of the game like it has been in previous Rockstar titles, the effects of the drug last longer and are more drawn out when in a smaller, enclosed environment and dissipate faster when not in one. The main character may also lower/raise the windows/sunroof etc of the car to let in more air/keep the warmth inside dynamically (or in the case of a crazed mad character ala Trevor just kick the door open while driving).

You should accumulate an unknown wanted factor; see Move Along in RDR 2 for a general idea, you're not wanted as much as you have an NPC asking you to move or following you, if you're seen using the in-game cell phone while driving by a police officer, maybe they'll follow the car for a bit or if on foot make note of it by trying to take a photo of your license plates (if not obstructed by dirt).

If the outside of your vehicle is completely obstructed by dirt or debris it should make it much harder for police to identify the individual inside the vehicle, meaning that if you're in a situation where you're likely to be chased or followed by a gang member, NPC, animal, police officer, etc they will have to walk up to the side of the vehicle and try rub the dirt off of the windows to check the inside of the vehicle, in a high-speed chase when collisions occur, thick mud, snow and dirt should dynamically be thrown off the vehicle.

Your vehicle could also much like the horses of Red Dead Redemption be used as storage, with you able to dynamically acquire pick up via the use of a button and place/throw stuff into any part of your car for later use, whether this is food/drugs/weapons/people whatever. Additionally, if your vehicle contains items that are not legal for the character to have and you're close enough for a police officer to spot you, having any form of dirt, debris, etc that isn't blood will help aid in concealing them, as will black-out windows should you choose to add them to the car.

Both the AC/Heater in the car are toggle-able through the radio selection wheel or dynamically. Speaking of the radio, you should be able to visit a streaming website on your character's phone during the game and play whatever curated tracks you have in your library through that cars sound system, you could also be able to record in-game video and sound with your phone and use your car as a playback device for those things too; it could be used as a way to attract attention such as the recorded sounds of screaming or gunfire and so on.

If you have stolen a car with it's keys in them or acquired them through other means: stolen from the owner, got a pair forged or whatever you should be able to lock and unlock your car from a distance in the same way you call for your horse in RDR.

Crouching and crawling along the floor should result in debris from the floor being caught on some of your clothing, you should also be able to use this feature to crawl underneath vehicles and to be able to store items such as drugs/explosives/whatever into the undercarriage of the vehicle as well as hide under it when being searched for.

During close quarters combat, by pressing or holding down the attack button near your car could allow you to use it as a weapon, kicking a door into someone or someone into a door, throwing someone through a window or across the bonnet/hood/trunk of the car similar to the contextual environmental interactions you use in combat in RDR2.

Details don't impact the gameplay experience, it's more a wishlist of features that you want to see rather than a details list.

- I want the interaction Menu to come back. Specially the option to open and close the doors of your vehicle.

- Realistic hair Physics

- Beard growing passing the time, just as RDR

and

- Realistic steak

This one may sound a bit weird but "hitmen" in a sense. - More people you kill or maybe you kill certain NPCs, the more likely hitmen will be sent after you (Something like 4 of them in a blacked out 4 door sedan or SUV and they follow you for a while or maybe even try straight up blasting you) They also shouldn't show up on the map as enemies until they fire.

Criminals roaming map - What i mean by this is people like muggers (bump into you and apologise but doesn't show that you lost money, if you start to chase, they run). Carjackers - A.I that tends to steal parked cars, maybe more likely in certain areas. It can help to make the world feel more alive and challenging in a sense.

Maybe "Hot Zones" - Increased police precense in areas that you may have shot a lot of people in. (Maybe last for a game day so like 24 ish mins perhaps)

Yes they do? Even the smallest details in RDR2 interact with the rest of the environment, people pick up on your appearance, it effects your stats, and a lot of the small features like the speed at which you pull back the hammer for the next round you fire in your weapon, even the time you spend tending your horse has an effect on gameplay and it's stats, you can murder people, wait for some vultures to show up as a result and accumulate a lot of feathers that go toward crafting items.

These elements though small do interact with one another.

- The ability to grab and throw random small objects, could even be used to distract enemies in stealth missions.

- Throwing melee weapons, like knifes and hatchets.

- The game world changing and evolving, like a house that is under construction at the begining of the game being complete and inhabited by the end missions, potholes being fixed, billboards being replaced, etc.

- In-game arcade/computer games.

- Realistic steak and pizza.

Yes but in your list everything impacts the gameplay way too much for it to still be funny. Everything in this list is everything from RDR2 convert for the next GTA and you only want those because you think it will work on a GTA because it works for RDR2 but the Red Dead Franchise has always been a more grounded experience compare to the GTA franchise.

No it doesn't. You could literally play the game just like any other GTA even with these features, the only difference is that these features would allow more player experimentation and freedom throughout the game.

In what way would of any of these features impact the gameplay in a negative way as even cumulatively, they're far too small to be noticed unless you're looking out for them?

This is a neat idea, in certain shady neighbourhoods you could totally have someone try to steal a car that's unlocked and has it's windows open, so having the ability to lock the vehicle would be a neat little feature that you wouldn't notice a lot of the time, but this little feature could add a lot to the immersion.

It's more the one with "Your car is like the horses in RDR2, they're use for storages", imagine seeing a luxury high-end car and you decide to take it but then you remember that you will need to move everything from the trunk of the car to the other one and it's just annoying in a game that's called "Grand Theft Auto". For the rest, you're right, those details are more like "if [insert something] is activated then [insert the result of if here]".

Just because you can use the cars for storing items and such doesn't mean that you have to do that, hell in RDR 2 it's a simple as shifting the satchel over so in GTA it could be as simple as a 5 second cutscene playing of the character switching stuff over, or something that's done instantly if you take it to your base of operations, safe house or garage.

like i said it works in RDR2 because stealing horses is not something you'll do every time you see one but for GTA it won't work at all. What if the car with all of your stuff gets destroyed or is broken in results of bullets shot by police officers?

I cannot believe that some people think the RDR2 system can work in a GTA. GTA is a far far different franchise.

Ownership has it's privelages, you could say buy insurance like you can in GTA V and it'll back-up everything you may have lost at the nearest safe house, if you're using a stolen car then tough luck you'll have to go and grab that gear again, this works mainly for stolen items though, rather than buying a gun from the gun store steal a bunch throw them in the back of your car and don't pay a cent. It gives the players more options while still allowing you to play GTA more traditionally if you choose to do so.

Even still outside of that one suggestion none of the features mentioned would go too far to effecting general GTA gameplay. Just let players interact more with the game world.

-more variety on the same vehicles. example: emperor can be found more rusted, less rusted, with engine variations, small dents, different wheels, missing a wheel cap or something, all cars should be like this, if the car is more recent model, less variations of "worn/damage/wheels" because it was bought recently obviously.
-900 degree ingame cars's steering wheels. cmon, we have this in LFS that is a old ass mfkn game, not hard to make it happen, something close to lfs or assetto steering wheel mechanics.[this should also be optional in the game pause menu, so people who dont like it or feel confused driving like this on a controller/keyboard.]
-choose the size of at least some clothes like tshirts, and few pants. sometimes i want some baggy ish tshirt and pants but even san andreas witch was set in the 90s didnt had it [i understand the limitations from the time it was made, but after iv it was possible and even had some large SHIRTS and pants to it in V, and GTAO.
-be able to buy worn used cars, like beaters, and also good shape used cars.
-car engine turning off sometimes, from a crash or if your car is old/bad condition, and you have to turn it on again
-online folks can hear your "custom radio" if they are very close or inside your car
-car bass from stereo sounds more realistic, like the metal bumping if its too loud/ expensive sound system
-better turbo/engine/transmission/ tuning in general, cmon wee need some deeper tuning with better results [more power]
-better car sounds, V car and gun sounds was whack af imo. V cars sounds like they aint fully trottling/struggling to accelerate, IV cars did it better imo
-better, louder and more BLASTING gun sounds. V gun sounds sucks and even dialogs are louder cmon...

i guess most of it is possible and can make the game more immersive and explorable

Another small feature would be to have the player character's phone accumulate small dents and damages if you've got it out while doing something stupid like ragdolling off a building.

Also keep and add a few animations for holstering and drawing any weapons you've got, like in RDR 2 where if you double tap the trigger when putting the gun away the character twirls the pistol around while doing so, adding that feature but to more things would be cool, sometimes it could be manually done by the player and other times it could be done dynamically; entering and exiting a vehicle in hurry may lead to your character kicking the door shut behind them rather than closing it, just small animatable variants.

I would definitely want to see the ability to interact with NPC's the same way as in RDR2.

Beard and hair growth would also be great. As would wildlife. It doesn't necessarily need to have as much animals as in RDR2 but more than in GTA V at least. It would work great with a Vice City setting with swamplands outside the city.

More realistic blood animations.

Realistic car damage and physics.

Many enterable buildings, even if there isn´t a lot to do.

I pretty much want all of RDR2's interaction mechanics like being open to basically open anything from drawers, cupboards, dressers etc and scavenge for random items. The only GTA game I feel that tried to be a bit more interactive than the usual was GTA IV like how you could pick random things up off the ground, but sadly we haven't really seen a GTA go further since so I think RDR2 needs to be looked at for some inspiration.

I would also like to see hair and beard growth. I thought it would've been a nuisance in RDR2 having to wait for Arthur's hair to grow, but it never felt like that much of a burden due to the hair tonics and stuff. Sure it's only cosmetic, but it's a great immersion tool IMO. in GTA V when Michael and Trevor hide out in San Shores I like to imagine Michael lets himself go a bit without shaving and let his hair grow out, but it's silly going to the barber coming out with a full beard and longer hair. I didn't mind this in San Andreas, but I think the mechanic should be changed to stay up to date with the more grounded and believable games R* are making now.

I'd love to see the reintroduction of rpg elements that where in GTA SA and all the shops and activities that came with them. For example the reintroduction of clucking bell and well stacked pizza where you can go to replenish health (no more regeneration, but you can buy snacks like you can in gta online) and if you eat too much the character gets fat; gym where you can go to exercise, the more you exercise the stronger you get so you can do more damage in melee combat and learn advanced moves; weapons mastery so you can double wield smaller weapons.

I feel like they should also reintroduce properties like houses that can be customized and shops that generate income and missions to improve the income.

I hope they also keep improving the in-game internet with new websites where you can buy vehicles and properties.

I also like the idea of being able to utilize the in-game Internet more.

IV had lots of cool details like a person you could date that would write a blog about the interractions, it would be interesting if they had the same thing but for other gameplay instances, like a police dispatch logging site, the blog of a current FIB detective talking about on-goings in the story, social media interaction to a degree perhaps even the ability to see NPC's post clips and videos of your goings-on in the game world. Get into a rampage with the police, there's a video online taken by a pedestrian of you in a firefight.

Drive a flashy car past a bunch of NPC's and one takes a photo? They upload and share the cool car they saw while they were out today, drive past some dude in rainy weather and splatter him with water off of the road? Dude writes an angry rant on one of the in-game social media sites the game has about having to get his suit dry cleaned or something to that effect.

If you can order food in the game, why not allow it to be delivered? Could be a useful way to give your character a small health boost or stamina increase or something, as well as provide you a free vehicle to steal when the delivery guy arrives. Book travel in advance, travel from City A to City B?

More TV channels definitely, like I'd be amused to see GTA's version of MTV or Comedy Central. Realistic car damage would be nice too, like if I were to crash into something hard enough the front of the car would completely unrecognizable.

I would just like to hold people up like in MGS2/MGS3. It was cool to sneak up behind and whisper “freeze” then you can hold them up or make them lay down or just grab them and use as a human shield or choke them out.  Just so many options for gameplay...

Can do it in MGSV, too. Considering you can interact with pedestrians, and rob them... I'd hope we could do the same. Holding them up like MGS would be even better lol
